    Just got off a cruise

We just got off the carnival valor a week ago! I personally fell in love with the smoked salmon. They had it on bagels from the deli, but i'd just have them throw it on my plate. LOVED snorkeling in roatan, such a great destination. Don't get sucked into the "cave tubing" excusion in belize, we thought it was a huge rip off. Spent 3 of the 4.5 hours just in a bus, and then about 45 minutes hiking in the jungle with wet bathing suits and water shoes.
  2. So I am about 2.5 months out, surgery was 12/22/2009 My stats: Consult weight (Oct. 23): 362 Surgery day weight: 350 Current weight: 312.8 But my NSV is that I was, for the first time ever, able to use the elliptical today! I've tried in the past and never made it more than 3-5 minutes without dying. Today I went 30 minutes on the fat burning program. So while my weight is slower than it should be and I have lost any clothes sizes... I'm getting more fit! I even had an older woman at the gym come up to me after and say "don't take this the wrong way, but I didn't think you were going to be able to do it, THAT'S AWESOME" I didn't take it the wrong way, I am 300# and can now start to keep up with the best of them!!

    My first NSV

Congrats Angel! That is awesome that you were able to give it another try and succeeded! Good luck with all of your weightloss and fitness goals, big and small!
  4. I had really awful issues with dairy products during my first month and a half... as I have transitioned to normal foods (I'm 2.5 months out now) I can tolerate cheeses a stuff... straight up milk/ frozen yogurts/ etc still don't work for me.
  5. I was sleeved 12/22/09... I have lost 46 pounds as of today. But all my clothes fit just fine still. The only rationale I've been able to come up with is that I was wearing my clothes way, way too tight to begin with, so now I'm actually a size 22/24, where I was probably more of a 28 to begin with. Congrats on your weightloss so far!
  6. Congratulations! I had the exact thing happen to me! I was sleeved Dec. 22 and was stuck for almost a month, and the scale just went down two pounds! Good luck with your weightloss!
  7. My doctor told me I could supplement with biotin, however, I was not told a dosage. The pills I bought are 1000mcg each and the bottle says 1x daily. Is that what those of you who have tried it took? i notice that they are scored and could be easily broken in half, so did you take half each day, only half once a day, or all of it at once? I will probably follow up with my surgeon but i was just curious

    biotin/hair loss question

Hmmm well my doctor still hasn't called me back. I've been taking it everyday anyways, I see that a lot are 5000 so my measly 1000 shouldn't be too much, which was more of what I was concerned about. Mine are flat little pills that I bought from target. So far no skin problems, but thanks for the heads up so I know what to discontinue if it starts!! Thanks for the responses everyone!

    Rings??

I'm having the same problem! I just recently got engaged, and my ring is getting loose. My finace bought me a beautiful chain to put it on. I know its not the same, but it is another way you can still enjoy it and wear it (I just don't have the money for the bumps )

    Soft Solids

Hi Anna! I got sleeved the same day you did, and am supposed to start mushies tomorrow. I cheated and am trying to slowly eat some tuna fish right now as I am having a hard time with protein drinks... its definitely a learning proces
  12. I find it interesting that the post op plans by different surgeons are so different! I am only a day after you surgery wise, but I cannot do any exercise except walking (up to a mile by day 30) and I can't start mushies for another week. I'm feeling pretty good and ready to go, but patiently following my surgeons plan! Its awesome to hear that you've done so well! I've lost 19.8 pounds in 16 days (the 8 day preop and at my 8 day apt) LOVE the sleeve!
  13. Hey Olivia! so glad to see that everything went well for you! I just got home from the hospital, I agree, the gas pains were a killer. I'm so sore and my tummy is swollen, and I have bad reactions to pain meds so I'm going it with a brave face and a smile. I'll post more when I'm feeling better. Any word from out "sleeve brother"
  14. Olivia, I am right there with you! I had a 5 day 1000 calorie diet followed by 3 days of clears... I'm at the end of day two and I'm exhausted and irritated and emotional. I too am scared of the surgery but am at the point where I trust my medical team and know that I have the strength, and I'm sure that you guys do too! Its nice to have 3 of us on here getting sleeved in the same couples of days and dealing with the stresses of family and the holidays! Best wishes to both of you!!!
  15. Hi Olivia! I'm getting sleeved Tuesday! I wish you the best of luck and look forward to hearing more of your story
  16. I just got all my test results and I am cleared for surgery the 22nd! I just ordered a whole bunch of small protein samples/containers to try! I start my pre-op diet the end of next week! I'm so excited! Thanks everyone for all the information and sharing your stories, it is really helping me realize how I can do this, I can change my life!
  17. Hi everyone! I have been lurking around for a couple weeks and decided to share my story! I am a 22 year old in my first year of law school. I have been overweight my whole life. I am 360 pounds and ready to finally change to a healthier lifestyle. I am getting sleeved on Dec 22 and am extremely nervous, but have found all of your information soo helpful! I'm especially nervous about having to do this through the holiday season/ my birthday, especially since I will probably be in the hospital while my family celebrates on christmas eve. I hope that this is the best decision I've made! I look forward to being part of this web community!
