Hey there everyone! I have been reading the boards for a few weeks now and decided that i needed to introduce myself to everyone.My name is Danielle and I'm 28 years old. I have been researching the VSG for awhile now, and I've decided (with the help of reading the wonderul information on this board) that it is the right path for me. For awhile I was leaning towards having the Lap Band done but that is soooo not for me. I have a wonderful support system. My parents are totaly suportive as is my younger brother. I've also gotten alot of good feedback from other members of my family. I think the moment it was real for me was when I decided I needed to talk to my 16 year old godchild about me having the surgery (I just wanted to see his reaction) He got the bigest grin on his face and said "O Man! A skinny Nanny! You have to do this!" It made me want to cry.. lol.. I know I'm such a sap. I also have the best boss in the world. When I told her I was thinking about VSG she wanted to advance me sick leave and have surgery the next week. LOL... I had to explain to her that it didnt work that way.. lol that I had to meet with the Doc and do pre op tests and stuff first. I have meet with a local Doctor in Baton Rouge. Dr Hausman. He has actually done surgerys for people I know. He did my Aunts VSG last dec. (She has lost like 148lbs since dec) Also did a freinds lap band and a freinds husbands VSG. I attended their support group meeting and found it very informative and helpful. I have not set a date or surgery yet. But I am thinking of schedualing for the begining of Feb. My birthday is January 11 so i was thinking I can start the liquid pre-op the day atfer my b-day and then I'd be set. All that being said "I AM TERRIFIED!" I have never been in the hospital before, never had surgery and HATE doctors! I know I have time to work myself up to this and I know its the right thing for me to do and i'll be starting a new life but im still scared.
