I did not tell anyone but my family. It is kinda hard though because I do not want to lie. I just felt it was no ones business and I was just not comfortable telling. Now I feel that it is too late and I will never tell because people will see me as a liar.

Foods you used to love but now hate
Deb replied to citizenwill's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The food that is the hardest for me to get down is chicken...fixed anyway. I do not know if I just can not seem to chew it enough or what. Most foods do not taste the same. I will think I want something but when I eat it it just is not as good as it used to be. Unfortunately, potato chips do go down really well. I think it is because it crunches down so much. I really have to ration myself. I actually try not to buy them too often. I still want sweets sometimes too. I worry that I am not changing my habits enough. I really want to succeed at this! -
Struggle to get in enough protein
Deb replied to greeneyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved Dec 29th and I still rarely get in 60-70 grams of protein. I feel like I eat all the time trying to get it in and I am soooo tired of thinking about it. I worry sometimes that I am eating to much. I have stalled in my wt loss so I feel that I am eating too much. I want to lose about 15 more lbs. The protein drinks that I have found that I like only have 10g p 8 oz and too many calories. I just wanted to be able to eat a little bit and kinda be "normal". Surely all these natural skinny people do not get that much protein in each day. I am about to just forget about it!!! -

1) How long have you been sleeved? 7 months 2) Who was your surgeon? Dr Steven Webb, Jacksonville FL 3) What were your experiences with your surgeon? Very good 4) Would you recommend your surgeon? Yes 5) How much weight have you lost since your sleeve date? 53 lbs 6) What type of sleeve do you have? I have no idea 7) Would you recommend the type of sleeve you have? Yes 8) Do you find you still have the necessary level of energy to sustain a good workout? Yes, plents of energy. 9) Do you find it difficult to keep the weight off once you have lost it? I have not gotten it all off yet! 10) Do you have trouble eating, such as getting “stuck”? Sometimes. Chicken has been hard for me to eat since the surg. 11) What is the one things about getting the surgery that you regret? No regrets but it does take a little while to get used to it. Believe me, when you can buy a size 10 in stead of pouring yourself into 18s, you are glad! 12) Would you do this surgery again, or would you have made another choice? This is the choice for me. -
Congratulations. You do look great! I am so glad it has been the life changing experience that you wanted!

I do not care how hard I try, I am doing good to get in 40 gms of protein a day. I am drinking a 10 gram shake, and 2 protein bars a day. I get in a little more other stuff...Maybe 10 more grams on good days. Oh yeah, I also try to get in a 10 gm yogurt but not every day. It is like every thing I put in my mouth needs to be super protein charged and I still NEVER get 70 gms. I just can not eat that much. How do ya'll do it???

Where do you get BSN lean dessert?

Odaisy, When you say a shake has 20 + grams of Protein, how many ounces are you talking about? I have started drinking the Naked protein shakes and 10 grams is for 8 oz. Tiff, chicken has been very difficult for me to handle since the surg. I do like your idea of adding yogurt though. I may just try that. Do you actually weigh your meat or are you eyeballing it? If you are weighing it, is that raw or cooked? I also like your suggestion of eating 15 grams 4 times p day. Is 60 grams what you shoot for? We do not have a cosco anywhere around me. I did pretty good today. I have had 60 + grams. I have pretty much had to eat all day though. I really do not want to eat if I am not hungry. That is a habit I am trying to break. Today = 2 protein shakes = 20 pr bar = 10 2 string cheeses = 12 2 slices ham w cheese rolled up inside = 16 cheese nips = 2______ 50 GRAMS Then I had a piece of fried venison = ? butterbeans = 6 So I would say I got at least 60 grams!!! WOO Hoo~!

So glad to hear you are doing well. When you say you have lost 50 lbs, is that from surg day or your highest before you went on your pre op diet? What about hair loss? That is what is sooo hard for me right now. I have lost about 53 lbs since surg. I weigh about 165 ish. It goes up and down between 164 and 166. I want to weight at least 150....140 would be even better. Your pictures looks great!

Can everyone please tell me when yours stopped. I know Tiff said her stopped in about 3 months but it has already been that long for me!
-
I am almost 7 months out and my hair is still falling out a lot. It is freaking me out too. I am soooo ready for it to stop. I was hoping I would escape this side effect since my hair had never fallen out before with the many other surgeries I have had. Mine has been falling out since the end of March.

What do YOU eat in a typical day?

What do YOU eat in a typical day?
Deb replied to JillianMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So so you write down everything you eat? I am concerned because I do not feel I am getting enough protein yet (how many grams are you eating a day?). I know I am eating the wrong foods too which scares me a lot! It just seems the the crunchy stuff goes down so much better and I can eat more of that stuff....like chips. I have got to get myself together!!! I have lost somewhere around 55 lbs but I want to lose about 20-25 more and I am not loosing much anymore. I go up and down between 164 and 166. Chicken is very hard for me to get down. Other meats seems to be easier. It seems if I chew everything else good enough, I should be chewing chicked enough! I really do not want to go backwards but I am finding that old habit die hard. Anyone got any advice for me??? -
weak, tired, forcing intake
Deb replied to delawaregal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will get better. I was trying to hard to get in protein. When I went back for my check up, my Dr told me he did not want me to worry about protein yet. He told me to relax and let the surgery work. It helped me a lot. I did not want to eat either and getting in liquids was hard too. -
Still Having Big Problems and I Need Suggestions
Deb replied to tbarnes18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same problem. What was so weird was it was several days,,,maybe even a couple of weeks before I had trouble getting in liquids. Try chicken broth. I agree that warm liquids may be better. I was taking pepcid too on the advice of my Dr. but Tiff told me to try prevacid. It helped me a lot! -
bruising. I bruise so easily now and I never did before. I seem to have bruises all the time and I do not know how I got them. Am I low on something or is this something that just happens. Will it get better?

I was hoping I would escape the hair loss delima but it has arrived. I noticed my hair falling out about the end of May. I take Biotin every day and I am using the 3 step shampoo system from Sally's for thinning hair and I pray. I purely dread to wash my hair because that is when I get lots of hair in my hand. Is there anything else I can do that anyone knows of? I have fine hair anyway and I just can not afford to lose much more hair!:001_tt2:

I have some saggy skin too. I think my arms are the worst. I wear sleeves that go to my elbows. I notice the skin on my legs too. It is wrinkley but not floppy like my arms. I have lost over 5o lbs but I am also 51 years old so I am sure that makes a difference. I hope it will get better but at this point I am not sure. I was sleeved on Dec 29th. I plan to have a tummy tuck if I can get the $$. If anyone thinks it really does get better, please let me know.

I have been using Nutri-ox...which is Sally's brand of Nioxin, I thought. I have been using it since the end of April and I am still losing too much hair....especially at shampoo time. Do you think the name brand Nioxhin is better. I am willing to switch to anything. I am taking Biotin and added the zinc. I sure hope this ends soon. I have had lots of surgeries in my life and I have never lost hair!!!
-
I think mine is coming from all over my head. It is not to the point that I need to wear a wig or anything. I doubt anyone else can even notice it at all. It is just really hard to ignore when I brush or comb it and it is everwhere. I have never heard of taking the zinc. I think I will add that too.

This may seem like a strange question because I am not sorry I had the sleeve. I am soooo enjoying buying a size 12 pants. But...I do miss one thing and that is being able to drink with my meals. I know it is healthier not to drink with your meals even when you have not had the sleeve but I sure to do miss that! That is the one thing that will make me feel ucky if I do slip up and drink too soon. Do any of you miss anything?

I remember someone posting that they wanted to run into their old boyfriend. Although I really never thought about that, I have been very embarrassed over the years to see people I had not seen in many years because of my weight. BUT THEN IT HAPPENED. Friday in Wal-Mart, I rounded the corner and there he was. It was so nice to see him and feel like I looked decent! We talked about 20 min.

I get hungry...or maybe I just want to eat still. I do know that nothing tastes the same anymore. I can think I want something but when I fix it....it just does not taste as good.
