  1. Hi there, I am 4 weeks 3 days out from surgery and I am on mushies at the moment, but am able to tolerate a fair bit which has me a little concerned! I am able to eat scrambled eggs no problem at all, and what I think, quite an amount, probably over half cup, and I am also eating mince o.k, and last night tried some chicken and mashed potato. I have eaten a peach (with no skin) and that was fine, and also when we were out and I was hungry, tolerated fine about 5 french fries. I am starting to worry that I am eating too much!.. Oh I can also drink quite a bit!! I have had soda with no problems, and juice but mainly stick to water!. Am I am going too fast, but it is causing me no problems!! Do I worry, is this eating pattern normal at this stage? I am still losing weight which is great though :-) !!

    Is it too much?

Thanks MidwestGirl, that really does help. They are pretty much the foods that I have been sticking too, so it is good to know I am kind of on the right track. The main difference I have been doing is probably having 2 meals per day, not three, and they would just over 1/4 cup. I have an appointment with my surgeon in one week, and have started a food diary so can go through it with him to make sure I am on the right track. Everything I do eat is blended and the peach and those pesky 5 french fries (which I won't do again) were chewed to a blended consistency. I definitely get the feeling of fullness and stop as soon as I feel that which is a new concept to me :-) Thanks again for your reply, it really helped. Good luck for your journey, I hope it is going well and you are healing nicely :-)

    Is it too much?

No nobody has told me that drinking soda is against the rules, and I have only tried it once but as I said mainly stick to water!. The nutritionist that works with my doctor didn't give me a list, just said everything has to be blended into a thick mash or scrambled eggs, thick soup e.t.c. I am sure you are right that french fries are not on the list, which is why I am asking for advice, it is all a learning curve!
  4. Hi there, I am on day 6 too!! I am feeling really good, surgery went well, no complications, I got to stay in hospital 3 nights which was great, my dr thought since I have young children one more night of rest would be good before getting back to mommy mode! I weighed myself this morning and since surgery morning, have lost 5 pounds. I think we do not lose so much in the first week with retaining Water. In regards to the bowel question, I have been a few times, it was more like diarreha (sp?) but my doctor said both this and not going at all was normal since we are only on liquids. He also said intiially it could have been in there ready before surgery if that makes sense? I am struggling a little with ideas on what to have, as I am not hungry at all, but am conscious of getting "food" in. But so far everything I have had is going down normally and very comfortably which is great. Take care :-)
  5. Hi, I am going in on the 15th and am not sure how I am feeling. One minute I am freaking out thinking this is crazy, what am I doing to myself, the next minute I am excited about the end result. My two week preop has been really easy so I know I will cope with the post op diet, but I think I am struggling with the irreversible side. I am filled with so many thoughts, nerves, being excited, doubts, I am a all over the place a bit!! Good luck to everyone else who is getting sleeved, in the next day or so, I look forward to hearing about your experiences!!
  6. Hi everyone, I am new to this site, have been a reader for a couple of weeks! I am due to have surgery in about 4 weeks, and am starting to get anxious. I only made the decision to do it a few weeks ago, although have thought about it for a few months. How long did it take all of you to make the decision once you learnt about the sleeve. Is it normal to feel anxious? I am a big sweet eater and also have always been a fast eater and I am so worried that my head hunger won't go away and that I will be battling with cravings. However, I know that I need to do this and have the support of my husband and family. I also suffer from irritable bowel and am worried it may get worse. Has anyone else suffered from IBS and got the sleeve. On another note, this is a fabulous forum and so informative, which is just great, and I look forward to posting alot (hopefully successes) in the future :biggrin0:
  7. Hi everyone, thanks so much for your replies. I am pleased to hear everyone seemed/seems to be in the same boat as me! I am really excited about it, and the most part I am looking forward to is obviously the losing and getting to goal, but just feeling normal in everyday life, and having the energy to keep up with my children. I guess I do freak out about the enormity of it and how "drastic" it sounds, but know that out of the three procedures, this is the one that would be best for me and suit my lifestyle (or the one I want when I am at goal)! Thanks again, I have my first meeting with the surgeon this week and once I talk to him one on one, I am sure my nerves will subside a little! Thanks everyone!!
