    Monday Morning Weigh In

Can't remember what I was last week, but here it is already eight weeks out, and I'm down 31 pounds since surgery and 47 including my preop diet. I lost well this week as it was my TOM. I've decided that's something to now look forward to since twice now I've lost during that week! HA!
  3. I will be eight weeks out on Monday. I am cleared for any food I want, but I still stay away from bread, pasta, and rice. I limit my carbs to 30-40ish a day, and my calories average between 650-800. I am getting anywhere from 70-100 grams of protein, and I drink my 64 ounces of fluid. Dense beef, and even ground beef sometimes is harder for me to enjoy. I eat a lot of chicken, greek yogurt, deli cuts of meat, cheeses, tuna fish, any fish or shellfish, chili, eggs. I have a few reduced fat wheat thins(eight) when I have tuna fish, but I don't add intentional carbs very often. I get plenty from my dairy intake. I still have a Premier Protein Drink from costco every few mornings as it's packed with 30 grams of protein and helps me on days when I'm uncertain what the rest of my meals will look like. I use myfitnesspal.com to track my meals each day.
  4. I can't wait to see you!!!!!!!!

  5. It's weird how we all lose so differently. You and Barb both lost much quicker than me early on. I've been pretty steady though. I am on the elliptical every night, and I think that seems to help.

I know we have to lose at this rate, and I keep thinking about what it will be like six months down the road. And,you have to remember that you have so little left to lose comparatively speaking.

Will I see you next week at the support group meeting?

  6. GRR..JUST LOST THE WHOLE MESSAGE I WAS SENDING! I couldn't get the myfitnesspal.com to allow access. Generally, these are the staples for me:

lean turkey and ham deli meat with havarti rolled

Wolf Brand Lean chili and a bit of cheese

    Lump crabmeat with cocktail sauce

    Greek Yogurt

    Cottage cheese

    One scrambled egg w/cheese

    Roasted chicken breast

    Meatloaf

    Tunafish salad

Roasted Edamame for a great crunchy snack

    Light string cheese

    Babybel cheese

And, if I don't know what the day looks like (I usually plan ahead), then I will have a Premier Protein Drink for breakfast. I'm eating what the family is eating most nights. I get about 30-40 grams carbs, but the nutritionist suggested more. I don't want to add more just yet. I have a few reduced fat wheat thins with tuna, and I've had a thin corn tortilla w/chicken. And, I had 1/2 of a panini made with a thin slice of italian bread over the weekend. No pasta or rice yet.

How are you doing? Will I see you at the support group meeting?

    Monday Morning Weigh In

255 here.......down 28 since surgery day seven weeks ago today....44 since December 1. I'll take it, but I'm hoping to see something less than 250 before Valentines Day. I usually don't set date goals, but that would be really nice!

    Dr. Nick Nicholson Patients

I was sleeved by Dr. Nick on December 14. I love his manner and his staff too. I asked at my seminar how many sleeves he did in 2009, and he said about 200 if I remember correctly. I have been very happy with my results so far as well as my care.

    Weird ?

Funny! I never had blue urine that I recall.

    Dawn

Congratulations for what I'm confident you will be very happy to have done in a short period of time. Those first couple of weeks are a bit difficult, and I had unmentionable dreams about refried beans...ha! I couldn't wait to get to the mushy stage. I'm afraid I don't have much to offer for the full liquids other than I was also able to add thinned mashed potatoes.
  11. Thanks! I post on myfitnesspal.com. If you sign up and "friend" me then I think you can see my daily journal of food.
  12. My six week followup was today. I was so happy to see how happy the doctor and his staff was with my progress. My nutritionist was also blown away by my daily Protein, calorie, and carb intake sans shakes. I am down 42 pounds since December 1 and 26 since my surgery date of December 14. I am clear to add strength training and running to my current exercise routine. And, best of all, I get to add fresh fruit and raw veggies again. I ran to Whole Foods to buy blueberries, blackberries, and asparagus just after the visit!:laugh0:
  13. Hey girl! I love, love, love dim sum! I think Tiff is right, Soup is gonna be your best bet. You could try a steamed dumpling, but you would be having a bit of Pasta that way. I won't lie, I had one in week five (without the doughy ends of the pasta, just the meat in the middle and a slight bit around the middle) because that was the day I tossed my Cookies, and I felt week, and China was the next stop at Epcot. You could always have the dumplings without the pasta at all. Still yummy and quite tender. Have fun! Having japanese tonight, myself. Tomorrow is six week check up with Dr. Nick!

    Monday Morning Weigh In

Better late than never.......I'm down two pounds from last week, but it's PMS week, so I don't expect a loss this week at all. Sucks being a girl! HA!

    Food obsession?

I fully understand your plight! But, food has always been a big deal, and I have always loved to cook. But, six weeks in, I've become VERY organized with my meal planning, and I am constantly thinking of food. I think that DeeDee is totally right. Once we get our own routine going and feel comfortable with a variety of food choices, it won't be so bad. Or at least, I hope that's the case.

    Six weeks today!

I'm down 24 pounds since surgery day and a total of 40 since my December 1 preop date. I think I'm gonna be a slower loser than some, but as long as I lose, I'll take it. It could be that I started mushies and regular food sooner (according to docs plans) than some others do. I am still averaging 750 calories daily, 30-40 carbs, and now about 70-90 grams of protein. I only include a protein drink about three days a week, but it does take quite a bit of planning, which I don't mind, to get in my protein via food. It's PMS week, and my followup appointment is Thursday. Bummer. I know I will be higher in weight that I would have been otherwise, but it's LIFE. I am getting in exercise of some sort every day. Generally, we are walking two miles in 30 minutes, and I'm also on the elliptical for 15-30 minutes daily. I decided on surgery for the long-term health benefits of a slimmer me, and if it takes longer term versus shorter term to shed the wait, then "thems the brakes."
  17. Hey, friend! Just checking in on you to see how you are doing. I have my six week checkup on Thursday. Hard to believe it's been that long. Frustrated because it's PMS week big time, which means the scale won't be my friend on Thursday, but it's the life of a woman, I suppose! I am officially down 24 pounds since surgery and 40 since preop. Not a speedy loss, but I guess I'll take it. I'm certainly doing all the things I'm supposed to do, so I'm "trusting the process." It will come. So, how about you?

I have never worked out so hard!!!

You are doing so WONDERFUL! What an amazing accomplishment in such a short period of time. And, think of the lives you will be positively impacting as an instructor! Keep up the great work! (and......for what it's worth, I think I'm running neck to neck in the weight loss department based on the stats that you've shared with others, so I can relate to the slow and steady pace that you have lost, and you have done a GREAT JOB!).....you have become my poster sleeve girl!
  19. So, we decided on a last minute, and I mean last minute trip to Disney World this week. We just got home, but not until I threw up twice yesterday! I will be five weeks out on Monday, and this is the first I've hurled. I lost my lunch and my dinner. I did not try new foods, and I did not overeat. Looking back on each experience, the only thing I can figure is that I ate too fast. I ended up with a VERY TIGHT and uncomfortable feeling....I felt so full that it was difficult to breath heavy or even talk. It was after about 30 minutes each time that I finally threw up. It just stayed uncomfortable until my mouth started watering profusely and then here it all came. I instantly felt better. Fortunately, today was much better, and I did fine at lunch and now dinner. I really think I just ate way to fast and did not recognize what I was doing! I don't want that to happen EVER AGAIN!!!!!
  20. Bless your heart! I can eat chili pretty well, but I have been sticking to the Wolf Brand lean canned, or I made ground turkey white chili and did okay with that. I haven't tried my own beef chili, and I have a feeling it wouldn't set well. Funny, my family just had a dish I made with ground beef, and I opted for a piece of tilapia. Fish and shellfish go down really well. I see the scale is moving! Woo hoo!:lol0:
  21. I don't start my cycle until another week and a few days as I'm on birth control pills, but I think the Water weight is already starting to creep up. I lost a few pounds last week, but nothing this week, and today the scale said a one pound GAIN! GRRRRRR........And, to make matters worse, I have my six week doctor visit next Thursday when I will most likely be at the peak of my water gain. I hate the vicious cycle. Do others typically see a slow down or gain a week or so before their cycle?
  22. I monitor how much I drink over the day. I can't see where drinking would stretch our tummies as the pyortal (sp?) valve is opened when fluid enters the stomach and empties to the intestine.

Five weeks and one day down....

...and I've decided that there is too much drama on OH, so I'm gonna have to bail from that forum for a while. Why all the venom when folks are just looking for a place to garner support for a healthier life? Crazy! Anyway......I'm down 38.5 pounds since December 1, including my 16 pounds from preop. I think I'll stop dividing the two weigh losses and just claim it all! I have my six week followup next week, and I just realized it is at the same time as I will generally have major PMS and weight gain...delightful! Things are going well, and I'm averaging about 650-800 calories daily, 25-45 carbs, and 65-100 grams of protein. I feel good about tracking and making healthy food choices. And, I'm getting in a two mile walk and a little on the elliptical each day. I hope to add some light weights next week to help with the flabby arms! I'm a little annoyed with my clothing right now. As always, I'm losing all upstairs, so seven people could live in the top half of my shirts, but the bottoms are still fitting. I have a closet of either too big and sloppy or still too snug around the ol' hips and booty. Sigh.....

    Monday Morning Weigh In

Well, it's Tuesday, not Monday, but Monday was my first day back at work and crazy as expected. I had a break from the scale during our four day Disney World trip, and that was good for me. I am down four pounds this week for a total of 22 pounds since my December 14 surgery date and 38 since December 1. I'm happy with my results five weeks out!

    Today I bought a size...

Precious! I need to start scouring fashion magazines. I have no sense of fashion anymore since I spent so many years avoiding snug-fitting clothing.
