I have been trying to get this done for the last 15 years. I have seen some of my friends get the sleeve done and was excited for them with their results.
The primary reason I got this done was because of numerous medical conditions I have . One which has pretty devastated me financially, mentally and physically. That is stage 4 BOWEL cancer which has metastasized to the lung. They managed to remove the tumors in the BOWEL but had spread to the lymph nodes which a year later went to the lungs. I have had to postpone the treatments till 6 weeks pre op and post op. No treatments for 3 months. It is worth or else the oncologist would not have cleared me otherwise. With this being said. I was able to walk only so far, my AIC was out of control, blood pressure was nuts, weight was up through the roof, lungs sounded like crap and it just goes on. I became depressed and anxious. My will to live was not there anymore. I lost my career, my mental health was deteriorating as well as physical health. It was awful. So all the medical team discussed it and it was to my advantage to have this done.
I am now 3 weeks po stops, beside the flux in the diet , everything is going as planned. I have had to stay at liquid diets because I can't tolerate pureed food as of yet. Yogurt and protein shakes just weren't cutting it. I did find some protein drinks that work for me well. It was the Atkins one at Walmart . Cheaper than the premiere protein ones. At this point of time, cost is helpful due to the numerous medical bills from the treatments and now the surgery.
I hope with this Bariatrics process that I will be able to walk longer distance, lower my AIC, get off the majority of meds, improve my mental health as well as improve my lung capacity.
On a personal note, I am a nurse by trade, mother of 4 children and grand mother of 7 . I moved to Wisconsin few years ago to get married to wonderful guy however I am pretty isolated. I have no family here. My support system is my husband. I'd like to touch base with anyone from the Wisconsin area. I live outside of Appleton.
