Kicking my PPI - Day 7...
Itstime replied to Keys Pirate's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't know about anyone else but my doctor is aware of this issue and I am well aware of the pros and cons, not any willy nilly here. -
Good for you Rob!!

Kicking my PPI - Day 7...
Itstime replied to Keys Pirate's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well I am heading into my 5th day and it is getting somewhat rougher. Each day I notice the small burning/ sloshing at the top of my stomach that I am trying to ignore. It is worse in the late evening when I go to bed so will take Zantac at bedtime, mostly o.k. during the day. Nothing I can't handle now, will see as time goes on. I am drinking small glass of soy milk which helps. I don't want to start an issue with reflux that will hurt my esophagus so must do this right. -
Caution for using PPI's

I stopped my prevacid 3 days ago and have had no problems with reflux or anything. First day I had slight nausea after eating but only lasted briefly. Now nothing. I am amazed! At night sometimes sleeping on my stomach would get that roll up the esophagus of bile few times early on after surgery, but haven't had one thing!!! Hope this continues. Have not used anything else but do have gaviscon for backup if needed. -
Update on me 9.5 months out
Itstime replied to TennJenn's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Glad to hear from you again TennJenn, watched your posting when I first came on here in November. I agree with staying busy will help the grazing and eating dense protein holds me so well. I am losing slower than you but every week or so drop half pound, slow, but not complaining. My skin now is starting to sag and hope that will snap back in time. How about you? You had less to lose than me I see so maybe you don't have skin issues? Anyway thanks for posting, love to hear success stories! -
The first step is recognition that you have a problem and know you need help. The next is for the family to learn how to deal with the healing and new life for all of you. I wish you the best in the new direction that your family is taking.

Cheesy enchilada stack (similar to a Mexican Pizza from Taco Bell)
Itstime replied to Tiffykins's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
O.K., officially a hit! I modified a little with taco seasoning in the hamburger/red, yellow peppers onion hamburger simmer, regular onion instead of green onions, (store didn't have them) and cheese. Layered like you said, sour cream, black olives and additional jalpeno peppers on the top for the DH and he raved!!! I wanted more but heavy and couldn't eat more than 1/8! Thanks Tiff. -

Speak up those with leaks & infections!
Itstime replied to Can.sleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Greenbaygirl, thank you for posting first hand what happened. I am glad you are home and hope your husband continues to heal without complications. I shudder to think what could have happened if you had not been by his side. The follow-up care was deplorable and your husband was helpless to care for himself and would have been a statistic I fear. Thank God he wasn't. -
I had a get away weekend recently that started with a margarita and then another and a third with some snacking and some more carb snacking and could not believe when I got home and had gained 5lbs!! I said WHAT! Surely the scale was wrong. Then I found out how many carbs and calories those nasty drinks have and it all went downhill from there. It took me all week to get those pounds off too but I definitely have to watch it. Am so glad I could get those pounds off in a week and pre-sleeve it would have been so hard to do, but must budget those calories in the future.

I go to the pool a lot and started with the classes and learned which exercises worked for me. Some instructors are better than others and you can actually do your own thing if you want to spot exercise. It feels so good and I push for a half hour and then go to the treadmill or bicycle for another half hour. Seems the more weight I lose the more my back and neck need attention and the pool execises seem to strengthen my core muscles. Works for me.

Kicking my PPI - Day 7...
Itstime replied to Keys Pirate's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
O.K., encouraged by all the comments about stopping the PPI's, guess its time for me also. Good for you all stopping and continued good tummy vibes. -
Lady in red! You look fantastic DeeDee.

There is a learning curve with the mask, nasal apparatus that is comfortable for you. My husband has one and when he has a good fit you can hardly hear him breathe. He would yawn all day bf he got the cpap, what a difference.

Keys, Can yu let us know how this works for you. Zantac is not a PPI? I am not familiar with all the OTC drug specifics. Thanks Linda -
Question about Dr. Bello, have you heard about his work on the eyelifts? I am seriously starting to think about this in the coming year anniversary in Dec. along with a breast lift. Thanks AJW.

Lan I just wanted to respond to your question about cancer and implants. I used to do mammography which included implants and I had never heard that there was an increase of breast cancer. It is however more difficult to image the natural breast tissue around the implant with mammography alone. We use ultrasound as another tool and also advanced imaging with MRI on certain cases, but you should know it is harder to always be certain. I have to say that my husband says pop a couple in there anyway, especially since they have gone south on me.
