My Last Supper... And Emotions...
Itstime replied to Keys Pirate's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I agree with Chancie, your relationship with food will change forever and there is no going back. I am 6 weeks post op and still learning how to keep up my liquids, protein and vitamins and then when confronted with my favorite foods not to mourn that I can only have a few bites. You must get your head around this and don't let this sabotage your desires for good health and a new start to the rest of your life. Only you know if that is what you want. "Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results", won't give you good health. You will have to do something different. Dr. Aceves has many fans on this site and we all had wonderful experiences there. Very clean hospital, excellent care and the best surgeon. I felt very well cared for. Good luck on you surgery! -
Tiffy, When you said you put up a little barrier from being hurt, I know what you mean. I've held myself back so many times bc of assumed rejection and it has kept me from doing so many social things. My weight was a hugh barrier and I am sorry I let it do that to me. I was also thought as stuck up and little did they know! My husband is the opposite and will do anything to get out and mix it up with people, consequently he has way more friends than I do. You are young and on your way and have so much to look forward to (babykins) etc,. I hope all you young people have the best life bc of this surgery that frees you up to live it to the fullest! I plan to do the same with the life I have left and hope for many more healthy years!

Sounds like you have a good plan to get where you need to be for your pregnancy. Good luck on stopping smoking. I had to quit several times bf it finally took. I replaced it with exercise and would do a deep breath when I was really craving a cigarette. Such a tough habit to break but your lungs will thank you for it!

Thin, I'm glad you are having some good NSV's, know what you mean about climbing stairs and huffing and sweating. Good for you. These make it all worth while and take the sting out of the days when you can't get one bite in comfortably.

What do you want to do that you couldn't do before the sleeve?
Itstime replied to *susan*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I want to get down on the floor with my grandkids and play. I want to run a 5K with my daughter. I want to be in more pictures instead of hiding. I want to play golf with my husband and walk the course. I want to walk in the room with my husband and not think people say what is he doing with her? -
I just want to "chime" in also but only bc I get so much info from you Tiffy and being post op I need all I can get. I saw your other thread about putting it all out there in the open "confessions" and think that is the best one yet! I will be posting on that. Love it.

Good for you! I am so glad my husband got ours up and running....feels so good!! I am so glad you are feeling better, I felt so bad for you dealing with that abscess. Better days ahead!

I have one and it does help with abdominal exercises. It felt good on my back with stretches and you can lay on your tummy on the ball and do push ups, extend all the way with your ankles on the ball to increase the Resistance. It will work your abs if you sit on it at the computer.

Vegas, So glad you weren't hurt and also that your mother is doing so well. I will be thinking of you both and hope she makes an uneventful recovery from her surgery. Linda

Well I found out what the senior sleevers are talking about when they say they got the slimies. My husband and I went to St. Augustine for a couple of days and I have been slowly introducing soft foods. I had some zero water before, waiting 45 min to eat and was so hungry for the talapia I ordered. I just started eating small bites, no problem. Then it got stuck, no other word for it, wouldn't go up or down. I kept swallowing and made it worse, sitting there in a room full of heavy eaters and I was in a panic. I had to get up and found my way to the rest room where it just came up, no vomiting, just up the pipe. NOT something I want to repeat. I can't have anything to drink bf I eat. There is no room for it. I am also amazed at how much food people can put away and I was right there with them before. No More! The sleeve rules.

what can I use for pain relief for an injury
Itstime replied to Tracy46545's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tracy, Do you live alone? Can anyone stay with you. I am so sorry this happened, what horrible timing and it does sound serious. Maybe you could take the pill with some applesauce or yogurt to protect your tummy. You are in my thoughts and a big hug. Darn this horrible weather!! -
2nd day post op, not feeling good at all, how long does this last?
Itstime replied to Megan_SF's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear you wingrider. They came in and lined 4 of those medicine cups of blue dye for me to drink on the second day and I dry heaved! I only got 1 down, it was not happening. I was good to get ice chips down. More meds!! I think I was so terribly bloated, nothing moving. That's where the walking helped. Megan I am so glad you are feeling better! -
I went to Dr. Aceves for my sleeve surgery, not a revision and the cost was $9500. I flew into San Diego and Ernesto the driver picks you up at the airport or if you stay at a hotel till the next day, they rec a hotel with a special rate which was very nice. (my flight got in too late to go on to Mexicali that first day). The drive is 1 1/2 hrs and then you have your pre-op tests done. On your pre op day you will meet with the anesthetist, Dr. Aceves and the nurses that will be working with you and there to answer all your questions, health issues etc. Then off to the very nice resort for dinner and sleeping pill to help you sleep. Next day picked up by Ernesto to go to the hospital for surg. You will stay there 3 days with the best care, responsive to anything you need for comfort, 3 leak tests and then sent home with meds/ Nexium, pain pills etc. and instructions. Very clean hospital, wonderful staff and the best is Dr. Aceves and his staff. I felt very cared for and safe. Everything included except your flight and the extra night at the hotel in San Diego if your flight comes in late. I am one of many on this site that has used him, not one bad experience reported. The last I heard he has done over 700 sleeves. Research very carefullly and there is a site here on picking your surgeon you might read. Good Luck Linda

Thin, I noticed a big difference when I went to soft solids from liquids. I didn't feel too much restriction on liquids which surprised me but a whole different story when I moved on to solids, way more restriction. My bougie is a 36.

I also had bad nausea day 2 and was still on IV fluids I think with some strong meds for nausea. The only time I dry heaved was with the blue dye since I didn't want anything to pass my mouth! Thank God for meds. Then day 3 was so much better! I'm glad you are going in to your surgeon and get some meds. This will pass...

Going alone to see Alberto Aceves or......
Itstime replied to tennessee1031's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Jillyr So happy you are on the other side. You sound like you are doing great, posting so soon. I felt so nauseous the 2nd day I didn't want to look at the computer. It only gets better from here. I had the nurse Adriana who was an angel, think she only works on the weekends, but such a sweet person. I'm so glad you are doing so well!! -

Ernesto told us that he had had the surg and I believe I had heard that Dr. Campos also had it. I bet Dr. C doesn't weigh 100 lbs! Also the anesthesist is serious eye candy, if I do say so myself...I'm allowed! -
Thin, I remember early on feeling light headed and felt that I wasn't getting any carbs in and I think you need some carbs for energy. So I would have a Naked protein drink that has more carbs than I would like, the ones with fruit in it. I felt better with that during the liquids stage. How about your blood pressure? When you are stressed it goes up. I would let your doctor know if it continues. Linda

Stacie, Great weight loss! I know what you mean about not exercising in this weather. I love to walk but the temps are around 18-20 degrees, so sick of this cold weather. My husband got the treadmill out so off I go. Linda
-
Shontel, I know you must be tired of all this, but you are on your way to healing. Are you still getting all your protein in? That is very important for healing tissues. Keep your chin up and keep us updated!
-
Bored, you are doing so good, down 40lbs since surgery in 4 weeks!!! I'm only down 25lbs. Way to go. The introduction of solids for me has been a slow process and I always put some liquid/sauce to mush it up, for everything. Doesn't always look appetizing but have to or pay for it later.

Itstime replied to Megan_SF's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thin, you brought a smile to my face, what a hoot you are. Where do you get these exotic dreams? I am so glad you are finally sleeved and on your way. What a journey this has been and looking forward to all the discoveries ahead for us!
