  1. How long were you in surgery? About 1 hour ---I was in a pre-op waiting area for around and 2 hours. Did you have a private room post op? No, I was in a short term area with around 12 beds, separated by curtains How many days did you stay? just overnight At the worst point, how would you rate your pain? (o-10 with 0 being the least amt of pain) 10+ the evening of my surgery, by next morning it was a 5 What kind of pain killers did they use? Gave me shots of morphine in my arm...was in heaven! Gravol for my nausea every 4 hours What did you do to pass the time? moan, sleep, stroll around the room What did you take for entertainment? brought a book that I never read..had no tv..didn't listen to my ipod..I really wasn't even up for having visitors.. I slept the majority of time. How did you pack and what would you leave at home if you were to do it over again? I only stayed 1 day..so I didn't need anything except a toothbrush and clothes to wear home, and my cpap..nothing els.. There was a point where I thought 'why did I do this?'..It was worse then childbirth--but after a couple of days I felt great, and I wouldn't ever change a thing!
  2. I've been reading post after post about post-op diets etc.. My doctor never went too much into detail about the do's and don'ts post-surgery. In the last few of days I have been eating 6 small meals per day. But my concern is what I am eating. I was given yogurt in the hospital after my surgery. I was never told to eat liquids only...just soft stuff (cottage cheese, yogurt, skim milk, soft boiled egg whites, broiled mushy fish) Today I even had a little blended up chilli for dinner. I never eat more than 1/2 cup of food at a time. But it seems like a totally skipped a stage! I haven't had any problems as of yet. I drink plenty of water, have bowel movements once a day, and feel good overall. Should I be worried? Have I sabotaged my weightloss already? Should I backtrack or just continue to do what I am doing? I am down 14 lbs since my surgery but I am concerned that my weightloss won't continue. Could I have caused damage to my stomach even if I feel great/?:confused1:
  3. I had my surgery last Wednesday, so today is 1 week.
  4. I am on my 4th day out. I had my surgery at Royal Jubilee in Victoria, BC by Dr. Bradley Amson. I have to comment that the staff were AMAZING. All the nurses were so kind and genuinely concerned with any little complaint I made about pain. They were so accomodating with my family visiting as well. I was sleeved on Wed. Nov. 18th. Left the hospital Thursday morning. I am still taking T3's for the abdomin discomfort. I was seriously asking myself why?why?why? Wednesday night. The pain was unbearable. But now I think I am at the stage where I am feeling myself again (in a good way). I am happy that my wait is over and I had no complications. I am finally on the other side!
  5. I love this forum. Everyday I check new postings. I can find the answers to any questions I have on this site. I am having VSG surgery in Victoria by Dr. Amson. The surgery is covered by our BC Medical. Because the surgery is covered it is a long wait list. I am going on my 4 th year in waiting, from my first consult appointment. I innitially was waiting for RNY but switched to VSG last summer. My surgery is Nov. 18th. I can't wait to start my journey.

    Any other Canadians out there?

Dr. Amson hasn't given me any pre-opt diet for my sleeve surgery other than liquids the day before surgery. Is that normal? I hear about pre-opt diets that last 2-4 prior to sleeve surgery. I am thinking about doing a liquid diet for 1 or 2 weeks before my surgery.

Hello! I am also a patient of Dr. Amson. I live in Surrey, BC. I have been waiting it out these last 4 years. When I went to see Dr. Amson in September I got a DATE!!! I could not believe it. I go to Victoria for surgery Nov.18th for the vertical sleeve. It is a long wait, so you must be patient. Some days you get so frustrated but eventually your day will come. We'll have to keep in touch. Angela:smile1:
