help in need of serious protein ideas

YES IT IS !!! I have had the naked Protein drink and it is very good, BUT, It has 2 servings in each bottle which are 220 calories EACH serving, which ='s 440 calories 70 carbs, and only 30 grams of protien. If you were to drink two bottles that will = 880 calories:blink: , 140 carbs:scared0:, and 60 grams of protein . Although you do get your protein, you over load yourself with carbs which is really bad! I personally don't want to use all my calories on two 16 ounce drinks. But if that's all you can keep down, it may be a good thing. But that many carbs is not good for loosing weight. I work for Kroger which carries all the naked Fruit Drinks, they are ALL wondefully good tasting, but are loaded with carbs. The NON protein naked fruit drink has, 2 grams of protein, 58 carbs, 260 calories per bottle. Although I used to drink them pre surgery, I wouldn't drink them now. They are good but not worth using that many carlories and carbs. Just my opinioin
  2. lebyvr We are not supposed to drink orange juice, no acid. I've not had that at all. And I've been told juices have a lot of sugar and carbs in them, that may slow down weight loss. Just to let you know.
  3. Well girls, we are all in the same boat here. I am 15 days out, and I too, feel hunger. Have since the 2nd week. I find myself grazing all day. Trying to keep my calories down. I've been stalled for 11 days now. I'm walking, eating the right amount of calories, I'm drinking more than 40 ozs of liquids, but still no change. I will fix things I now I can eat, like sauteed shrimp or eggs or refried beans, and nibble on them all day, until I get my protein in. I crave things also, crunchy salty things..like crackers or chips, but have only indugled in ritz crackers a few times. I am trying to be patient and possitive, but it seems to get harder as I go. I was hoping for 20 lbs to be gone by now. I guess the saying really goes..."good things come to those who wait" but DANG....

    Feeling weak

Your Ticker say's you've lost 45lbs. Is that TRUE? How much since surgery? I've only lost 12 so far, with NO pre-op diet. I'm so frustrated !! I"ve been stalled for about 11 days.

    Feeling weak

Hi everybody I've been feeling GREAT the last two weeks, but this week has started on a down note. I woke up nauseated, weak, with no energy. I was up in the middle of the night with watery bowel movements and some intestinal pain (just gotta go pains). I've been doing this all day. It's now 3:39pm and I've not eaten much because I just don't feel well. I took a nausea pill, and that helped. Could it be my water/liquid intake. It's been real low. Only about 30 oz's. This is the first time I've felt bad. What should I do? thanks Judy

    Total frustration

I'm 15 days out. I've adjusted my calories to 600-800, I've increased my water intake. Yesterday I lost 2 lbs, this morning they are back. I don't understand why I'm not loosing. How can this be? I used to eat 3000-4000 a day, and I'm barely eating anything, WHY can't I loose? I'm a positive person, but this is really getting to me. I'm even checking inches and nothing. Is normal to get stall THIS early in the game? Back to total frustration. sigh.............................

I had way more energy today, but still not enough to walk, but tomorrow I'm sure I'll be back on track. I did some house work, washed my dogs and painted (artwork) all day. SO I'm good. Feeling better all the time.

Can you tell me more about what happened to you? Did you just not drink enough liquids? What were you averaging per day, etc. What finally made you go to the hospital? Judy

    Total frustration

Cajun You were absolutely right. I was consentrating on Protein and totally over looked the calories. The first week I did great, averaging 400-600 calories, but the second week was awful. I added it all up, and was averaging 1000 to 1400 calories per day. I had been drinking Ensure, full of protein but 230 calories per 8 ozs.:bananajump: I ate some pork too, I had NO idea it was 315 per 3 oz.'s. Only 1 oz of cheddar 114 calories. I had that too. Then I had peanuts 162 calories per oz. :bananajump: I also haven't been drinking enough liquids according to what you are drinking. I was only getting about 40 oz.'s. Thank you for the pep talk. I will go back over everything and redue my diet plan. If you haven any suggestions on what food are high in protein but low in calories, please feel free to pass it along. THANKS!!!!!
  16. AWWW Susan...that is wonderful...HALELUYAH!!!! I look so forward to the day I can blast those words out loud!!!! I only have 25 lbs to go to make that a reality! YOU GO GURL !!!!
  17. I will start mushies next week also. I have cravings, I want things, I don't think anything will take that away. I've been doing pretty well with my food. I did however go to my first restaurant and Christmas party all in the same day. My husband invited me to join him and his staff for lunch. I said sure, before I realized what I'd gotten myself into. When we entered the restaurant I thought to myself "I hate this, what was I thinking". While everybody there was pilling there plates at the buffet, I was just sitting there. I checked out the buffet, there was NOTHING I could eat on it, not even pudding or mashed potatoes. I was just hating it...but I sat there an just stood it, after a while I was ok, and just sipped my Protein drink. I started looking at what people were eating, and it was kind of sickening. Everybody was eating things that were terrible for them, and shoveling it in like there was no tomorrow. At that moment I was glad to be different, the need to be like them went away. I'm not sorry I did this, I will be healthy when others are suffering from what they eat. It's pretty sad what I used to do to myself, and I'm happy I choose to change it. At the Christmas party it was the same, people were gorging themselves with party food. I did find things to eat, cheese, cheese dip, grapes, and egg nog. I also had 1 one inch square of cheese cake. I would only take a couple of bites every 30 minutes or so. So I did fine and didin't over due anything. I was very proud of myself. Today I had a soft scrambled egg for Breakfast, I sauted some shrimp about 6 pieces, for lunch. it was fabulous!!!! I was so happy to eat something with flavor. I had some tuna for dinner. I did fine, no problems at all. I'm finally getting the hang of the sleeve. And I love it. Good luck to you , you'll do great.

    Do I really look "sick"?

Tiffy you look fanstastic....I don't see sickly at all....Don't let them get you down.

    feeling really down

Bren I am 9 days post op. I've had hardly any problems either, and I am very HAPPY because of it. Would you prefer being sick? NOT ME !!! I cheat here and there, but I'm not down about it. I CAN'T eat tons of fried chicken & mashed potatoes or 3 hamburgers or a whole pie. But I CAN eat 2 oz.s of trail mix with chocolate chips in it. I can eat 2 oz of mashed potatoes, 2 oz of refried Beans, I've even pulverized 3 doritos or some pork rhines and eat them. I've taken a bite of pie. Nothing hurt me, I'm fine. But I ate TINY bits, nothing big. The whole purpose of this surgery is to eat SMALLER portions, not deprive yourself the rest of your life. I don't think anything will stop our cravings, we are all food addicts. You may always have them, BUT you have a tool to make it easier to say no. I was down the first few days because I still craved, but I wasn't hungry. And for that I am very greatful. I feel good, I'm eating 10 less, HOW could that be bad? This will take time, it's not a magic fix. Give you self time to get used to it. I have, and it gets better as you go. I've even had a small stall, but I know it won't last, it can't. Our lives will improve so much..I can't wait! Keep you chin up girl...everything will be alright !!!!:biggrin0:
  20. HI everyone !! I got home Wed. evening, and I'm doing great. NO problems what so ever. Just taken it easy, drinking, walking, and sipping. I feel much better that I thought I would at this point. No nausea, not much pain. SO far everything is great! I'm glad to be home.

    Sleeved 2 days ago

I am 8 days post op. I had the gas in chest for about 3 days. I too have liquid lortab. I only took it 3 days, that's it. But more to sleep than for pain. My pain completely went away by day 3. I had gas the first 4 days, but not bad. I do the hickup thing, but it don't hurt. I sneeze and cough and laugh with no problem. I bought 3 boxes of gas-x, but have not used it yet. I have had very little pain, I've walked a LOT, in the house, and the last 4 days I've been walking 1.5 miles daily. I got tried of the liquid diet after 4 days. I started eating SF pudding, that helped me feel more satisfied. This week I've added more things thicker. Like sucking on oyster crackers until they melted my mouth, and ritz the same way. Refried Beans and mashed potatoes. All very tiny portions. I even pulverised 3 doritos and ate them for the taste. After a while the broth is just nasty. Same way with Protein Shakes, and SF popcycles. Eating something more substancial made me feel great. But all cannot do this. Do what feels best for you. I've had little to no discomfort, so I must be the acception. I wish you the best, it get much better as it goes. How can we NOT loose weight. We are eating nothing compared to what we all used to eat. It has to work, and it will.

    1 week post op question

I am only 1 week out. I just had my first bowel movement this morning. It was very firm/hard. It took a while but everything came out ok (pun intended) LOL. I was worried about being constipated. I don't get much noice from my tummy. I was pretty "windy" the first week though. Everything is GREAT, I've not had one problem at all. I've tried some things here and there, especially this week. Peanuts (chewed to mush) pureed porks chops in gravy (only ate an oz) very good. I've had a couple bites of refried Beans & mashed potatoes. All went down well.
  24. Has anyone heard from Mountain_lover? She had her surgery the day after mine, but I've not seen her on line yet.
