DAN :bandit YOU LOOK GREAT!!! A HARLEY MAN TOO! You should be very proud of yourself. Thanks for sharing, although I am envious of guys, you can lose faster, but also know you have to work at it. toni as usual you bring great humor to the boards. pippz how are you doing it? I think out of most of us, you seem to be the one who has met most challenges with positive results. We will all get there, but like suzzie and others said, some habits are not as easy to break, but day by day we are working it! TGIF It is weekend time again, yahoo! It is going to cool down here on the east coast which will be nice. My dh and I plan to go out for crabs at this shack restaurant on the water. I feel I can eat that, because if you ever ate hard shell crabs it is bit by bit bites! You can eat for an hour and not get to 4 oz. the only sad part is NO Corona's :cry

:whoo:Stef and Dan....Show Off Just kidding, you two are doing great!!! I wish I could get that much exercise in. On Wednesday I planned to go to a class at the gym at 7:30 but it was 104 out and by the time I got home, I was so HOT. The air conditioning in my office building went down around noon, so we all sweat our butts off for the rest of the day. Thursday, 60 min of step class. !! I will total my month so far after my two hour class tomorrow.

Marga I don't have much restriction. I had my fill a week ago, July 31, and I can eat just about anything. After surgery I would get chicken and some fish stuck, with the pain in my chest and sliming. I still don't eat white meat chicken, but I have not had that happen. Maybe I am chewing more, I don't know? I have had this weird thing happening with food feeling like it is stuck in my throat. Like after you vomit. It is gross. Yesterday that was there and after about 2 hours from lunch I felt like I was going to pbing, but I didn't. So, maybe I have some thing going on, I just don't feel it? I have my next appointment on August 24, and should get another fill. Munchkin everyone is so different. I did not have a good experience. It was not due to pain, but due to my anxiety when they could not find my port and they had the needle in me, searching around. I kept trying to talk myself out of the faint feeling, but I could not control it! I felt so stupid, because it really did not hurt! My port is tilting a bit. I am not looking forward to the next one, but I WANT IT!!!!!! You will do fine.

musicalmomma!!! thanks for doing the charting!!

Dan I live in Virginia. We are breaking records this week. It is really humid in this area to begin with. No exercising outside at this time, in the gym is healthier this time of the year. I think the entire east coast is being impacted with heat index and no rain!

DAN I would shout to the mountains and to us, looking as GOOD as you do!!! where was the picture taken? were you at a wedding? Vey nice pic! joey I have not been feeling so positive these days. I have not given up and keep on the program for the most part, but I have had little restriction from my first fill and the scale is stuck again! I am going to the gym, on my third week, 4-5 times a week, and I feel I am where I was when I am on Weight Watchers, or another diet I tried! I know the BAND works and it is there, we just need to wait for when it kicks in for us:(. Hang in there! serena I think we learn so much from LPT, I am looking forward to my support group next week to see how that goes. I am sure all the groups are similar and helpful!

Suzzzie sorry that you had to go through that emotional roller coaster! It is very hard to get others to understand if they are not in the same place emotionally as those that made the band choice. You are 100% correct, this is not easy, and weight loss surgery is a very large decision that one makes. I think this is why we dont' tell to many of our friends and family, because it is hard for them to get it! Hang in there, you are doing great!
-
insub GREAT weight loss! Keep up the great work. bcrazy I was told the same as mell, drink a lot before, nothing during and wait an hour after. I think the after is hardest! I agree if the food is dry, take a sip. Does anyone ever feel that the food is caught in your throat? Like a speck of food that won't go away? This has been happening now for two days after meals. Any thoughts?

I went to the gym for a 60 min step plus class. It is really fun. My grand total now is: 315!!!!!!!!!! I am a little sore, but it is worth it. It was very hot today, 100 plus a 110 heat index. YUK.

I did 75 min today, 15 min on the ecliptic ( not sure how to spell it?) and a 60 min weight lifting classes.

Dan what a great picture!

Mary I was looking back at the posts on our thread, and I saw you posted the end of June first, right? Was this about the same time you started with the Doctor? If you have not had the above as thenewme posted, it can take a while still. you have to go through all those steps. If they have not provided you with a date, you may be into September before you are scheduled. try not to worry to much, it will happen. I know that it is hard, waiting! Probably one of the harder aspects of the entire process. You have to be patient before and after the surgery. we all want it done now! Keep us posted. Good luck. support group next week, is anyone going on Monday night, August 13?
-
Heather GREAT to hear from you! I know the feelings you are having, not knowing if the band is working for you, but I really trust that we all did the right thing! We are learning together through the process, and in the end hopefully we will be there, with great weight loss! 02bthin/Serena I am only on my first fill experience, but your explanations all seem to be fill related and may pass as the fill settles? others ahead of me may be able to confirm. I know after I eat, the burping increases, I attribute this to fast eating or eating to much. Serena my hospital also has a support group for only bandsters. It is next Monday, I plan to attend for the first time next week. It is an hour away and it is a 2 hr meeting. I am not sure who leads it? There are support group meetings all month for different groups. One for all weight loss surgeries, post opt, and pre opt. I think there is one related to nutrition only. Let us know how it goes!

Darr, I think so. I was really worried too because when I had my tubes tied, the anasthesialogist said that he had a hard time getting the tube down, short neck or something. He told me to be sure to tell the next doctor if I have surgery again. So, when I told him the day of surgery, he did not seem to feel it was a problem. They gave me a shot of something to help out with it. I was not sore at all the next day!!! Don't panic to much. One of the other things I stressed over was the blood work ahead of time. I have asthma and when I was diagnosed about 18 years ago, the blood guy could not get a blood gas, which means drawing blood from my artery. I was so faint because he was terrible, I told him to stop and would not let him stab me one more time!! Well, at the hospital for my band, WOW, she did it with out a problem and I was so happy. So, the reason for telling you this, is every one is different and so are the hospital staff. YOU WILL DO GREAT.
-
Toni You make me laugh!!!! If it makes you and Suzzzie feel any better, my shoulders are killing me and my thighs!! I did feel full last night when eating spaghetti and turkey/meat sauce. I put about a cup in a bowl and could only eat half. So, maybe my fill has some impact....Yah! Now if I could not drink wine on the weekend, I would be better toooo!!!
-
Darr I stayed the night mainly due to insurance purposes. I have federal bc/bs. that is what my doctor's office said. but I may have stayed anyway because my surgery was not until later in the afternoon, 5PM. You will find that the doctors are different on many things, pre opt diets, post opt diets, fills, exercise and more. it is a bit frustrating for sure. I have only been banded since June 7. Good luck to you. you will learn a lot from this site, it is full of GREAT people.

Great exercise Saturday! I went to my two classes, and the body pump, a group weight lifting class to music. It is really a fun class and a tough workout. My legs felt like jelly after going into a step class. Here is my August #s to date: 180. I have my grandaughter today for an overnight, she is 22 mths old, wish running after her would count! she is taking a nap. I love being a Grandmother.

Goodmorning, I have posted a few times, I am a Junie bander, but like to read your thread as well, we are all so close and it helps to read your experiences. sue11 I understand your feelings of willpower and not feeling restriction. I finally had my first fill on Tuesday after 7 weeks, 5cc in my 10cc band. I feel hardly any difference. I can feel some things moving through, but they go right through, no issues. I did not want to pbing or slime every bite, but I wanted to feel something and be restricted from some foods! 4re4me you are almost all full, what did the doctor say, can you have 10cc in a 10cc band? How are you feeling now? I was hoping not to have to have more than 2 fills, but I might have to get this much too. twinmommy WOW great weight loss, you are doing a great job. One of the hospitals here that has a weight loss clinic( not the one I went to) has a clothes exchange one time a month. Maybe that would be something available near you. I will suggest this at my support group this month. I have been buying clothes on clearance, so I don't feel like I am investing in clothes I won't be wearing long. I bought two shirts,I think to big to begin with and now I will have to give them away, like you they hang and my bra shows... a good feeling! thanks for listening.

Dan thanks for the update, I guess I was ahead of you! I did experience some twitches of pain after my fill when I jumped up and down at the gym in a class. It was a bit tender. But I have a titled port and she had to move around the needle in there and that may have caused some muscle soreness. NO RESTRICTION! I was a bit depressed last night. I waited so long for my fill, 7 weeks, when some of you are going for #3, and nothing, I can eat what ever. I had two slices of pizza last night( small pieces from a frozen thing). I did feel full, but I was hoping to get a signal...."NOPE, can't eat this"!!! But it did not happen. I will have to wait now another three weeks for the next one! I feel like I don't have the band... :help: I know some of you all have had this experience too, I am not giving up, but it is frustrating after going through so much and still not being there! I am off to the gym this morning for a double class. I will catch up later..
-
I plan to go to 2 classes at the gym tomorrow morning. I have been easing back into the gym. I can't wait to get through an entire class with out stopping to wipe sweat or take a drink! I will post my weekly tomorrow after my classes!! Yahoo. This is great. I wish it was cooler here, to walk.

Toni, GREAT to have you back! How was your vacation? bcrazy, sounds like your fill experience regarding restriction is similar to mine. I am disappointed that I don't have much restriction. I did get a full feeling last night after eating a tortilla/quesadia thing. I should have stopped 3/4 through. but it did not get stuck and tasted so GOOD! insub says that the restriction sometimes comes later or alternates one day and then another, this is what I have read. I am hoping for a surprise vist of restriction!!! bigbaby GREAT news for you. I am glad your doc acted so quickly and did a fill at the same time, you must feel better! nv sorry to hear your news, bigbaby's experience gives HOPE! Hang in there, keep us posted!! stef glad to hear you can eat again! You and I are at the same wieght. Your loss is ahead of mine, I will keep you as my inspiration.. mj glad you are feeling better, it is nice reading how everyone begins to feel and understand the band, and be assertive with the doc's! You sound like you have a great one. DAN Where are you? Want to hear about your fill? TGIF!!!!!!
-
musicalmomma do we just tell on our post what the amount is daily. do you keep the total or do we? I don't want to do another ticker, it was hard enough to get the one working right!
-
o2bthin! I was just thinking the same thing, stef your picture of you and the baby is so cute! How old is she? Stef where is costco are the salmon burgers? fresh or frozen? My dh is a costco King! If costco has it he will buy it. I love salmon. lo2usI will look for the v8, it seems hard sometimes to find different drinks in on store. I have been looking for this premade ice tea I bought a quick mart, but can't find it. It was neste with berries and honey, diet. very tasty! I have NO restriction! I can't beleive it. after 5cc, nothing so far to speak of. I can feel it go down, but no real problems. Not that I want a problem, but a tighter feeling. Can it be delayed? I did lose 3 lbs:whoo:
-
missy Wow, your dh is amazing! He is our inspiration!! o2bthin just having my fill yesterday, I keep thinking, am I full, what do I feel? So far not much. I had a business lunch at the Olive Garden with 3 men, so I ordered soup and had a few bites of salad, cut extremely tiny and really only a few bites, no problems. I ate about 1/3 of the soup, no problem. I only stopped because of fear, not because I felt full! I am with you, I want to feel full, some tightness, but not to the point of not being able to eat at all, or pbing all the time. But what that feels like I am not sure at this point. others have more experience than I!
-
Stef I agree like everything else, the fills are different. I observe some go for fills 2 weeks apart, maybe those doc's put little bits in. My Dr. put a large amount and I don't go back for 3-4 weeks for a check, maybe a fill, maybe not. ladyhr I am not sure but maybe 12-14cc? lo2us Did you have any Fluid in your band from surgery? that could make the 1.5cc tighter. I know some have up to 2.8 put in at surgery and you don't even know it, the dr did not tell us. I thought I had some in there too, but I didn't? sliming I remember someone saying that at night when you went to sleep, food would come up if it was not digested? I had that last night, but all I had was some tomato Soup, about 1/2 c at 9. About 12 I woke up and I was sliming, felt like I was going to vomit, it went away. that was weird. dan I talked with a guy a the hospital today who was banded in April. He reminded me of you, in the sense that he had no fill, and was losing alot, yesterday was his first fill when hit a platuea.
