For everyone considering the sleeve surgery I wanted to post my progress and say go for it!!! I was so worried about it and somedays now I forget I had surgery and just go on with my life. I have lost 71 lbs. and feel great. I am off my cholesterol, blood pressure and sugar medications. I exercise every day and feel great doing it. I have 30 or 40 lbs more to go and feel I can do it. I am so thankful for this website and the people who take time to post and help everyone out. It has been so helpful to me Diane

Thank you! Barbie: No real complications, I also had hiatial hernia repair with my surgery and have had no problems. I did notice some hair loss about a month ago, but luckily I have thick hair so it isn't really noticable and it seems to be slowing down. Best of luck to you. I also have 2 friends who have had this same surgery since mine and they are also doing great!

No regrets at all, it isn't always easy but it for sure is worth it!

What was your first step?
Timetofly replied to sychadelic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi... My first step was getting the nerve to call the dr.'s office for more info. I thought alot, researched dr.'s in my area and then called. They suggested a seminar and it went from there. Went the the seminar, then made an appt. after the appt. it took me 4 months to make a decision (I was very nervous) once I made the decision everything fell in to place. They helped me coordinate all the testing, saw my family dr. and then scheduled the surgery. Best decision I have ever made! No regrets. Hasn't all been easy, there are rough spots, and no one can tell me I "took the easy way out" but I am so happy I did it. Best of luck to you as you move forward. This board is one of the best spots for information and to get all your questions answered. I know I have counted on it many times Diane -
Wow you look great. Congrats to you. Hope to be able to say the same when my year is here. You have done a great job Diane

Last night I fell (or passed out, I am unsure) when I got up out of bed in the middle of the night. My husband looked over and said "what are you doing" and I realized I was on the ground. I have been getting dizzy alot when I stand . I was on BP medicine and was taken off of it about a month ago and I was thinking that would help but it hasn't. I am going to go in to the dr.s and find out what is going on but good to know others have the same thing going on. Must be the body adjusting or something? -
I know that happened alot to me the first few weeks and ten it just went away. Be patient you had major surgery and your body is adjusting to its new stomach Time is the cure!

Question about taking pills
Timetofly replied to PamelaAM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took any of my regular medications right from the beginning. As far as vitamins, I took chewables for the first 30 days and then began regular vitamins. Diane -

BM after the Sleeve
Timetofly replied to M_Bigga_M's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had an occasional problem since surgery so began using the powder form of fiber sold in the drugstores in my coffee in the am and I also take a few fiber tablets each day. It seems to help Good luck and if it doesn't improve you should definately talk to your dr. Diane -
Every day gets better! I am almost 5 months out and notice improvement each and every week/month. Best of luck to you! Diane

Hi, I had surgery on Feb 8th and I am able to start adding foods as tolerated. I know raw veggies are difficult but that aside I am wondering when people started to try salad. I love salads and I miss them :lol0: Seems like it would be a difficult thing to get in but was wondering how you did? Also, I know alot of people say they aren't hungry. I can't say that. I am! Then I go to eat, have just a very little and know I am done but it doesn't stay with me very long at all. Is that about how it goes this far out? Does your hunger go away right after surgery if it is going to or later? Thanks for your input Diane

You look great, and have really inspired me since I started on this board. I find your post so informative and really motivating.. I am so happy for you and all your sucess! Enjoy every moment Diane

Had my surgery Feb. 8th, and most days I feel good about it, today - not so much. I am down 52 lbs. so I am happy about that but I am having a hard time eating. I don't know if it is just that I am having a hard time accepting just how little I can actually eat, or if I am not able to eat as much as most. It feels like I was eating more a month ago than I am able to now. I also have never gone a more than a week without getting sick after I eat. Sometimes I can eat the same thing I ate before with no problem and this time there is a problem. I can't seem to figure it out. Has anyone else had this problem at almost 4 months out? Is it still a process that will change more? I thought by now I would be able to eat a little bit, and enjoy that and be satisfied. Now I feel somewhat hungry and go to eat and feel frustrated because I just know I can't eat what is in front of me - no matter what it is. The protein drinks are saving me... Thanks for your input Diane

Thanks to everyone for your replies, I so appreciate hearing from everyone else when things are bothering me. Makes me you realize you aren't alone and I always get great advice. I do need to be more aware of HOW I am eating now just WHAT I am eating. I am really going to work on that and see if it makes a difference. I have to respect my new stomach! Thank you all Diane -
Kicking my PPI - Day 7...
Timetofly replied to Keys Pirate's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
OK I am confused. What is the difference in Zantac and the PPI's? I take protonix and tried at my 3 month appt to go off and felt crappy and went right back on it. I am concered about staying on it too long and wonder if I should try again soon. I only gave it two days when I stopped. -
Having second thoughts
Timetofly replied to texaschick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery Feb 8th and had many of the same thoughts and doubts as so many do before surgery... what am I doing to my "perfectly good" stomach? what if it doesn't work? what if I have a complication? But my mom gave me great advice. She said think of yourself having surgery, how do you feel? (I felt hopeful, excited, scared, ready for the future) and then think of yourself not having the surgery , how do you feel? ( I felt hopeless, depressed, stuck) that for me was a turning point. I knew I was ready, I had tried everything else. I am so happy I did! I have difficult moments, but I am losing, have had no real problems and see a new life ahead with a healthy body! Good Luck Diane -

Not enjoying food!!
Timetofly replied to samsonslady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my sleeve surgery in Feb. and still seem to have issues eating. I am hoping my stomach calms down. I want to eat but then when I go to eat nothing seems to sit right in my stomach. I feel like I am eating very little and thinking I may need to go back to mushies for a while until things settle down for me. Best of luck to you on your journey. You will get alot of great advice here! I know I always have. Diane -
i had a colonoscopy & a e.g.d . colons ok , but doc found a hiatus hernia in my esophagus. will this cause problems with my sleeve surgery :001_huh: .............. i see my bariatrix doc next week . ( great guy by the way ) dr paul b. wizman margate florida . My test also found a hernia and the dr. said they would not repair it because it looked small. Well, the day of my surgery when he was actually operating he could see it was much bigger and fixed it. No problems, just a 2 of 1 surgical procedure. I was worried when I heard that I would have extra recovery because of it but I noticed nothing. Good Luck! Diane
