  1. Hello I am a new member.... I had a band done about 5 yrs ago and just had to have it removed this past March  My Doc wanted to do the sleeve BUT of course the Ins co I have now did not cover it so here I am thinking about doing the weight gain and not feeling good about myself once again. I did lose about 160 lbs with the band over the 1st 3 yrs and maintained with very little Fluid. The problem I had was severe acid reflux and coughing all night as soon as I laid down. I would start getting sick and throw up the bile in my stomach.... so he said enough is enough. I was on a pill that helped with it all but just not a good thing to be on long term I guess. I think I may be having surgery the end of this month. Just wondering if anyone out their has had the band to sleeve and at what rate did you start losing agin. Thanks

    Nana's story

Well here I am "sleeved"... I went to Mexicali on Thursday Aug 20 and surgery was done on the 21st...... Looking for to a new person again. The whole experience at the hospital is great. The staff is wonderful and Drs are very good and keep you well informed. I would tell all to go to Mexicali and have it done. BUT the only ones that know I went to have surgery are my husband and daughters...lol... Just kinda private that way. BUT if people do what to know info about the sleeve I can tell them. I am just not putting the info out for the friends. I am sure things will go just find for me. As I a was a bander turned sleever.... So far everything is just fine for me. I got home early tue AM... worked for 4 hrs in the afternoon ( I work from home) so I did not have to look pretty for the office...... I just keep on drinking my juice and "eating" my broth. I will be in touch will the wls milestones.
  7. Hello Alexa77, Good luck on the 20th... I hope to see you at the hospital. I am getting band to sleeve done on the 21st..... Oh by the way YES I did finally tell my husband. He was not so cool with it at 1st but is all good with it now. I will leave on Wed late afternoon and stay 1 night in San Diego then off to Mexicali. Just wanted to you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
  8. My daughter is coming with me.. She is 29 and I told her all about it. I am sure once I do tell him he will be fine with it. He would rather have a thinner wife.... I had a lapband removed in March and have gain about 30 lbs back... so we are not happy about that. So I am sure it will be fine.
  9. Alexa77, I too will be having surgery with Dr.Aceves that week. I am on Friday the 21. Hope to see you. Also like you I have not told anyone but my daughters. I am working up the GUTS to tell my husband. Guess I better do that since I leave in a week...lol Hope all goes well for you and I will see you in mexico

    New to the sleeve

Dr. Pitchford was great.....as was his staff. I would in a heart be go back to him if my ins would cover the sleeve. When I had the band put on 5 yrs ago I was working someplace else and that ins covered the whole thing. I lost about 150 lbs on the band. I have gained back 30 lbs and I am not happy. So I am going to have the sleeve done in Mexico it is my only choice. They want to do it before I gain the weight all back. I am very sad that Dr. P can not do the surgery but the cost in the states is just unreal.

    Nana's story

Thanks for the info. I am so looking forward to surgery. Hard to believe on can gain weight that fast. My band was not even filled but was doing a great job until I had to have it removed. I went from a size 6 to 12/14 in just a few months. Just can't wait for things to be back to normal. Are you put on the same liquid diet for the month again? Or since you were banded going to the sleeve is the process different.
