  1. 2 years have passed since you registered at VerticalSleeveTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary Bbell!

  2. There arent any that I know of. I know there are a lot of extra steps that others dont have to do at other facilities, but believe me it is worth everything they do. It is all a plan that helps you after the surgery. A lot of the slowness can be the insurance company as well. Mine was approved 3 months early and they got me in with in 3 wks of the approval.
  3. thank you for all the positive feed back. The best is when I wore to work the other day a shirt from Structure. THat is right Structure, they dont even exist anymore. That is a great feeling.
  4. Looking for Central Ohio Sleevers. Had mine done at Fresh Start Bariatrics
  5. I didnt realize there was a forum to the 100lb losers. This is my post from the stories forum. Hello all, just past my 4 month anniversary since the surgery and am down 112lbs. I am only 22 pounds away from my initial goal. I have since decided to change that goal another 20 to 30 lbs since I am a lot further along than I thought I would be. At my last visit Dr. Myers said my weightloss has been remarkable. That felt good. I have started to get into a pattern of weightloss for a week or so, then level off for a week or so then weightloss again. During my level off periods is when I am fitting into different sizes. I wore a xxl dress shirt yesterday. In July I was wearing 5xl shirts. I no longer have to shop at the big and tall. My selection of clothes now have tripled. And lets not even get to all the energy I have. I mean tons, sometimes I feel restless and just need to burn energy. It is an amazing feeling and a good problem to have. The best thing is I am no longer using a cpap and taking meds any more. My family doctor took me off of them a few weeks ago. I have been on some of them since 1994!
  6. Thank you, and it looks like you have done and amazing job as well.

    Exercise help here, please!

I am about 3 1/2 months out and exercise about 4 to 5 times a week. I used to hate, I mean hate to exercise. Now I am getting up at 5 am on Saturdays to do it. I waited until 3 weeks after the surgery when my doctor gave me the ok cause he said the majority of the healing happens in that time. I started out with the bike and alternated legs and arms. I then relized I could burn way more calories on the treadmill. So I stared with small goals. 15 minutes on the treadmill then every so often I would add a few more minutes. I make sure I do the treadmill in sweat pants and shirt to get the maximum out of sweating away the sodium and stuff like that. I am up to 50 minutes at a pace of 12 min miles and elevation of 12. It is such a rush when I hit the 50 minutes and keeps me wanting to come back. I can't argue with the results 104 lbs in 3 1/2 months as well as moving from 5x shirts to 2x and pants from a 54 to a 42. My doctor told me the first year after the surgery is when you get the biggest bang for your buck working out and I have taken and run with it.

    Leveled Off????

I have been shedding pounds like crazy. I hit 63 pounds lost last week. Almost 1 to 2 pounds per day. I am 8 weeks out of surgery. I have been working out for some time now, but the last 3 weeks have been doing it about 6 times a week. I run on the treadmill for 35 mins and hit the weights. Working out is becoming an obsession, but I havent lost anything in about 7 days. However shirts are fitting me better than just a week ago and I am ready to move a pants size. I am confused. Will I level off, then drop some, then level off, then drop some???

    Starting to exercise

I am wondering will my weightloss slow down, because I am working out and building muscle mass.
  12. Dr. Myers uses three rows of staples and we are on a stricter diet post surgery than most to prevent leaks early on.

    Starting to exercise

I just got cleared to exercise, but not sure when the best time to do it with our eating. I wanted to know if it was better to get up on an empty stomach, then eat afterwards. Is it better to work out after work. If I eat before workout then I cant drink water 30 minutes afterwards. Just trying to figure out what is best.

Well, I just went to my 3 wk post op visit yesterday. I have lost 39 pounds since my visit 1 wk before surgery. I also started phase 3 yesterday. Basically anything I want as long as it is pureed. I can have normal mashed potatoes now and normal cottage cheese. Last night for dinner I had chilli pureed over mashed potatoes. It was a perfect time to change to phase 3 i was getting bored with my food. I can also have scrammbled eggs, 3 egg whites and 1 yoke, with cheese and they dont have to be pureed. I just need to make sure they are very moist. My insurance did cover this. Which was a shock to all.
  15. I am in a program called Fresh Start Bariatrics part of Riverside Methodist Hospital. It is an amazing program. The doctor who runs the program is Doctor Myers. He is an amazing doctor and so is the program. I started in February with an all day visit, I had a full blood workup, I met with a dietician, a psychatrist, and had a full physical. Afterwards they set any appointments for you that the doctor may have asked for during your physical, like a stress test. Then you meet with the dietician once a month while keeping a journal of everything you eat and the time. They start getting you ready for post surgery. You cut out the caffine, soda, and start with no drinking 30 mins before and after eating. It was a great tool to get your mind ready. One of the great things they do is deal with the insurance company. I never once had to speak to anyone. Then once you are approved, you go for another all day visit one week from your surgery. There you meet with the nurse and do all of your prelim consent forms, then get a greater understanding of how your next 3 months are going to go. You get your pre-surgery food and some of your post surgery food. You then find out why the pre-surgery food is so important. For the 6 days prior to surgery, you have to drink a chicken broth and shakes that they give you. It shrinks your liver prior to surgery. Then after surgery, they provide these protein drinks for you to make sure you get enough while on your different phases. We have 5 phases and they are mapped out in our binder. They are a little stricter than most of the ones I have seen. Each come with recipes and daily meal plans. It is a huge help. The program includes 3 more visits with the dietician, as well as a 12 week membership to the fitness club at the hospital. It is amazing. I move to phase 3 next week and can not wait.
