  1. 2 years have passed since you registered at VerticalSleeveTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary kaykay!

  2. Well, we have been pretty cold here, but not that cold! This week-end we had highs in the 20's and 30's. Hope your surgery is very successful for you!

  3. Thanks Kay Kay!! I am so ready to get this show on the road!! While I have your ear, how is the weather in Dallas? I wish we were there now....our high today in Wisconsin Rapids is suppose to be SIX!!! Is that a real temp??!! ha ha We are hoping to move home in the next year or so....God willing! Have a wonderful afternoon. Thanks for the response!

  4. You had asked about Dr. Davidson. We think he is an excellent surgeon. I don't know how many sleeves he has done. His website on obesity help six months or so said 1000, but I think that was outdated even then. I would surmise he has probably done in the neighborhood of 2000. Possibly more. Don't know boughie size he uses. Someone posted awhile back on other forum that he at that time was using a 34. You should just ask the office if you want to know. We didn't even know what a boughie was at the time my husband had surgery! LOL! Sometimes I don't think my husband has as much "restriction" as some report, but he has lost about 100 pounds in 6 months. So it seems to be working for him. I think you are in good hands with Dr. Davidson. He is a very experienced, reputable surgeon. He was chief of surgery at Presby hospital here in Dallas and was a vascular surgeon before he started with the bariatric surgeries. His nurse practitioner, Sandy, is also very good.

  5. KayKay! I have an appt. scheduled with Dr. Davidson April 6th and am penciled in for surgery June 11th. I am so excited. I've only spoken with Trevor, and he's the one reason I chose Dr. Davidson, he's been very helpful. How many sleeves has the doctor done, do you know? Y'all were happy with him and the outcome, correct? What size bougie does he do, do you know? Is there anything I should know ahead of time??!! Thank you in advance!! We are Native Texans, but are currently living out of state....so we are traveling back 'home' - it's less expensive. Have a great afternoon.

  6. I also don't know anything about Dr. Veniga. For anyone considering Dallas, I would recommend my husband's surgeon, Dr. James Davidson. He is very experienced in all kinds of baratric surgery including sleeves. We paid $12,500 as a total package, 2 night hospital stay. www.bscdallas.com
  7. I suspect that if you hang in there you will begin to see a weight loss regardless of what you do about carbs. My husband hasn't counted carbs, and he has lost almost 100 pounds now in less than 6 months.(His surgeon's office also have no rules regarding carbs. Their only recommendation or rule is "protein first." They also suggest 3 meals a day with two 100 calorie protein snacks, if needed, and no "grazing.") That said, however, I think most will, indeed lose faster and more consistently if they watch the carb count and keep it down. (This has been just my observation from people on this forum and another one.) And as has already been posted, if you tend to have insulin resistance, this may be even more true.
  8. My husband had terrible headaches for a couple of weeks following his surgery. We think it was mostly caffeine withdrawal actually.
  9. My husband also had his surgery at Forest Park last summer. The facility is beautiful and we were impressed by the nursing care he received there.
  10. Hi, Barbann

No, I don't know any of Dr. Nicholson's patients. I have heard of him though. My husband had his surgery with Dr. James Davidson. Hope things go well for you. If I can answer any questions, feel free to ask. My husband is about 3 months out from his surgery now, feels good and has lost almost 50 pounds since surgery (about 18 before surgery.)

  11. Hi. Kaykay,

I live in Austin and am going to Plano on Wed., 10/28 to a seminar for the Nicholson Clinic - the surgeon is Nick Nicholson. Just wondering if you know any of his patients. I am super nervous and also excited to think I am taking some action to change my life so I can improve the quality and longevity. Thanks for your thoughts.

  12. So sorry to hear about your friend. My husband's doctor prescribed Lovenox, a blood thinner, to be given by injections for about 2 weeks after surgery to help prevent this.

    Hunger Pains/Burping

My husband does still have hunger and has all the way through. He is 8 weeks out now. He says, like McMadame and Tennjen, that the difference is that it is much more easily satisfied with so much less food than before surgery.
  14. Thanks, Susan! I had a good day.
