I don't know about amazing...... but I know I FEEL soooooo much better!!! Thanks for the compliments girls!!
  2. Lauren- YES!!!! 150 is DEFINITLY a realistic goal!! I started out at 354 ( highest was 373) And I'm dowm 152 pounds at 9 months out! I have 42 pounds to my doctors goal of 160. You can do it, just follow the rules, drink plenty of water and get in your protein- and it can be done! G'luck to you!!!

    First Procedure

Ok..... I'm 9 months out and I go for my 9 month check up tomorrow with my surgen.... I'm starting the "research" process now. I still have 50 pounds to lose, and I have been saving, but wanting to get some surgens in line. I know my insurance won't cover this, so I have started saving the past year. But I want some "Figures" and procedure info. Like I stated before, I THOUGHT it would be "the girls" first, but I want legs and stomach done first. Mainly stomach... so tomorrow when I go for my check up I'm gonna see what my doc says, how long I should wait, etc. I guess it's becoming more of a reality to me now, just like the weight loss surgery itself, I NEVER dreamed I would be where I am today, just 9 months out. Will this make me happy? I dunno...... but I do know I have ALWAYS wanted a flat stomach....... even when I was thin, I had a poochy belly, so I'm at least going to look into prices etc. since this is more cosmetic, gonna weigh ( excuse the pun/not intended) all the pro's and cons- and weather I want to spend the money or not.
  5. Welcome Piglet!! And congratulations! I posted on your other thread... and it sounds like You're doing great! Keep up to good work and we're glad to have you here!
  6. Piglet- Welcome and congratulations!! Sounds like you're doing GREAT! Everyone is soooo different. I was one of the ones that couldn't eat right away- vomited alot. But could drink protein drinks ( and still do at 9 months out) Just get in your water- very important! And gradually you will get in all your proetein needs. sounds like you're off to a great start! Welcome to the losers side!

    Urinary question

I noticed that I am urinating better since surgery- before I would have to pee, but was harder to come out, now I have a stronger stream ( didn't know how to put that ) and I don't leak, much more in "control"!! Not sure what the reasoning is, might try to remember to ask my doc tomorrow!

    can't get a grip

Hi Steph- Is it the poor food choices, or eating more than you are able? eating too fast? too much and not getting th signal that you're full? This surgury is eventually going to let us eat "normal"... but our "normal" will never be able to eat much of it. However, what scares me is I see I am able to eat more than I could at 3 months out. I LIKED that feeling of just being able to eat a few bites... I KNOW me....... I KNOW I liked to bindge...... eat ALOT...... and if I can eat more now at 9 months.... how much MORE will I be able to eat at 18 months?? and so on? We have to know what we want out of this. We're going to make poor choices, we're human... and the thing with food is............ we HAVE to have it to survive. But we have to know what we want. We can't say I'll never have another piece of cake again in my life...... as soon as I'm told I CAN'T... I WANT. It's being able to have the cake, a small piece, enjoy it, and put it away. Not eat the entire cake and be sick. Not feel guilty, it's what I had, and now I can move on. I'm glad your getting counciling..... I still haven't found someone I feel comfortable with... but I want to find someone. I havn't had as sever issuse as you describe, but I know all too welll... it could be me tomorrow.
  9. JoAnn- Just because your surgery will be a rny- is no reason to leave here. We're all here for the common goal- to lose weight- to help each other thru difficult times and to support each other in good times. encourage, support, be friends.... and that can happen here too. I've belonged to groups where I'm th only sleeve person, but our goal are the same. Their might be a few differences in our surgeries, but the end result will be the same! Of course I understand you might want to be around others that had the same surgery as yourself- but we're all here for the united goal of weight loss, ideas, eating habits, and just all around support! I've made the comment that if my insurance would have covered the RNY- thats where I would have been, but I sdtill connected with alot of people here, and I would have remainded a memeber here. I just wanna say congrats to you! Get done what needs to be done! I know I'm behind you!As I'm sure the others are too!!
  10. Hi Charity-

I kinda hate recommending things because everyone is so different... in the beginning- I couln't drink anything tooo sweet and this is kinda sweet. I didn't drink coffee for the first 6 months, I really wouldn't recommend drinking it.

I did use this just mixed in water, with some ice and put it in my bullet, so it made it like a slushey. I stay away from the extra calories, so I don't use milk. But like I said, I thought it was kinda sweet. But now that I'm farther out, I like sweet LOL

As for the calories, Thats all I can stand in the mornings, I still can't "eat" early- Sometimes I just have 1 scoop split between 2 cups of coffee- then during the day I try to eat " regular" stuff-

If I can answer any more questions just ask.. hope this helped some :))

    NSV shout outs

My NSV for yesterday was I was getting ready for my first day back to work after Vacation- and decided to try on a pair of pants I bought for 8 bucks 2 months ago........ Size 14 and they fit! COMFORTABLEY!! I almost forgot about them... some pants as you know fit diferently- 'cause I been in a 14 in other pants. Then, being at work after being off, people saying how "skinny" I'm getting.... it still blows me away- 200 pounds + and SKINNY??? But still nice to hear:001_tt2:

    slight setback

WTG NORMA!!! 32 Pounds is WONDERFUL!!! Hope your knee surgery goes smoothly and you have it done soon.... I know how much of a pain it can be. G'luck to you!!

    Confused...

I'm 9 months out and down 150 pounds...... and I STILL have trouble knowing when I'm full. I sometimes push the envelope, and take one bite too many and then I'm miserable. It's a learning process, listen to your body- but it doesn't happen overnight. I don't have "hunger" signals....... I have no hunger. Every now and then I might get the feeling like i want to eat. I do have "head hunger". Think something sounds good... try it.... and YUCK. My biggest problem to overcome was NOT eating.... even if I'm not hungry per/say... I eat 3 times a day. I don't always do this like I should... I might skip dinner if it gets too late...... but I do try to eat three times a day.
  14. DALITEDESIGNS- Welcome and Congratulations on your Date!! Nerves and jitters are normal, we've all been there........ and you will do just fine! Again- Welcome and can't wait to hear about your success!!

Self Pay VSG and income tax return

I was told by my doctors and by my accountant that weight loss surgery is deductable because being over weight is now concisered a disease like diabetes.. etc. I don't know all the details, but guess I'll find out in Feb. when I do my taxes!

    slight setback

I know all about knee pain! It's AWFUL! Take care of the knee......I just had a total knee replacement and it has really been wonderful! The weight will still come off, and you can always do arm exercises, and lying on the bed sit ups, and streches ( thats what I did ) and still do. Just be careful of the knee until you see your doc. G'luck and hope you get to feeling better soon.

    4 weeks out SOFT DIET?

Personally- that list is way too many carbs. Even at 9 months out I don't eat cereal, rice, pasta, or bread, or crackers of any kind.... or drink any juice. I stay away from the carbs, I might have a baked potatoe or mashed potatoes MAYBE once a week, more like once every 2 weeks. I stick to fish and chicken. I did add pork to my diet at 6 months. I also do turkey. I eat that first- then a veggie or sometimes just the meat. Personal choice as I said.... I know my weaknesses, and carbs are a BIG ONE... so I stay clear of them. But why go back into bad habits having gone thru all this??

    Judy's BP numbers

Keep up the good work Judy! You've just been on meds a short while, so whatever you're doing, seems to be working!! Keeping fingers crossed for a Dec. Date for you! Glad to see the numbers coming down!
  22. I'm 5'8" But I look sooo much taller- Doc has my weight goal for 160-At times I think that will be VERY skinny for me. I am large boned. I definitly want to get there..... but right now am very anxious to get to 180-190. I don't know about 145 at my height and bone structure.... will just have to wait and see..... but it sounds wonderful!!
  23. Welcome KZol!! I was a self pay- researched for several years, and when the time came- I just went for it. Yes, lots of fears, concerns, but was more concerned that I would not be able to work anymore the way I was going.... Being a self Pay- my doc got me in right away- only thing that slowed me down was having to quit smoiking for a month- or I believe he would have done it the next day! LOL
