Congrats on the beautiful twins!! I"m also in Baton Rouge but I had my surgery with Dr Aceves in Mexicali, Mexico. What doctor are you going to use? I've heard some really good things about Dr's Bellanger and Hargroder. I don't know much about the others here in town. Things will start to move quickly for you so hold on for the ride. I spoke with Gaby at Dr Aceves office today and asked her this question. She told me that the risk of leaks become minimal at 3 months. She also told me that you should not be swallowing any pills until 3 months out either. Said she knew of people who did after 1 month and that they didn't have any problems but the Dr's response to the question is after 3 months post op... Other doctors tell different lengths of time concerning both of these, your doctor's opinion may differ from what Dr A's office told me today.. Hugz, Penny:001_smile:

Hi KayKay, I do not know the answer to this question either and am interested to see what the replies would be. I was an idiot to not ask questions about signs of a leak, how long until the danger is minimal, and things like that. Now I worry myself alot about leaks.. I am home!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSS I'm glad to be home.. Surgery went great. NO leaks. Last test made me very icky and sick, but am better. Weak but that is to be expected. Trying to get in my liquids but not getting enough just yet. It will get better. Ice Chips seem to be the ticket for me.. I had a whole bucket of them Friday night and felt much better Saturday. The trip home was exhausting.. Left the hospital at 7 am and arrived at my home after midnight. Finally slept. Taking it easy today and sipping water and broth for the most part.. I'm going to try a SF popsicle in a few minutes.. Can't hold much at a time Met a lot of new friends and can't wait to get to know them better. I'm going to post some pictures later this week. Just dont' feel up to it just yet.. I"m going to rest as much as I can today. One question though, The incision where they pulled my stomach out is red and puffy, is that normal? it wasn't like that until this morning. .I'm thinking it was from my long trip and the drain being taken out. I was told to wash with antibacterial soap over the tape.. how long before the tape can come off and I can just keep neosporin on them. The insicion doesn't hurt. jsut looks red and swollen. It is about a three inch diameter of red and puffy.. I also want to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I were greatly appreciated. I'm not hungry but I'm shooting my hubby.. he just came home with a sack of candy.. I do not want it and I know I can't... but I really don't want to have to look at it either.. I've not had any vomitting and the nausea is getting better. But i'm soooo tired. Guess that will pass soon. I can't wait for my scales to start moving down. I've gained a few pounds this week but I think it is from the swelling and the IV fluids. I LOVED the drs' and staff at the hospital and I'm so happy that I chose to go there.. I couldn't have made a better choice. I will post again later when I feel a bit less dizzy. hugz! Penny~ PS: Jazmine, if you read this.. HOW are you doing?? any trouble crossing the border? and has you scaled moved down any? My neice and I both kept commenting on how beautiful you were and how sweet and soft spoken. You are the best!

No my drain is gone, but the spot where it was is still hurting. It is right where i bend or twist.. ouch it hurts everytime, but it isnt' red. So i guess it is just getting my attention and telling me to stop moving like that. LOL

I agree with VAngel. The pre op is just as important as the post op diet. Neither are easy but they won't last too long. Congrats on your date! I know how excited you are, I was just there not too long ago. :lol0: Penny~

I am happily marking each day off on my calendar in bright red! I can't wait for the mushies. I'll do them for as long as I have to, I just want WATERMELON... YUMMMMM seriously though, I'm going to follow directions from my physician because I do not want to have any complications that I could have prevented by eating correctly. I'll happily and joyfully celebrate when my 30 days or up though.. Hugz

Hey Kim, how are you doing after surgery? I am making it a little better every day. My drain wound is the only thing bothering me but boy does it hurt. it is exactly where I bend to sit or stand. I'll be happy when it gets better. Have you spoken to Jaz since ya'll left? Did you have a good flight home? How are you with you liquids? I'm trying to get mine all in but I run just a little short on them right now.. I feel great though. It was nice meeting you in Mexicali. Hope you have a speedy recovery Hugz, Penny:rolleyes:

Thanks ya'll. I'm trying to get my liquids in. Yesterday I did pretty good but today I just didn't get in as much as I should have. I only had about 40 ounces today. I am going to get a shaker or blender and fix me protein drinks tomorrow. Water was going down good, but not I am struggling to drink it. i don't like the isopure, but I make myself drink little bits of it during the day. Chicken broth is alright and I don't have much trouble with it. The only things that are saving me right now are Ice Chips and SF Popsicles. I've had 3 cups of ice chips and 3 popsicles today. I"m thinking of having another before bed, even though they say to stop 3 hours before bed. I really do not want to get dehydrated. I really really want to eat something and I'm not going to, but man when my guys are eating I just want to take it away from them. I am just going to have to get them to eat in the dining room instead of trying eat in front of the tv while I'm on liquids. It is not easy as you all know, but I know it will get better everyday and I'm so looking forward to full liquids and then to the "mooshies". I read my papers everyday on what I can have and when. I'm marking the days off on my calendar. I'm so excited that I can have yogurt in a few days.. I can hardly wait. Yogurt is going to be my saving grace with the unflavored protein. My family are so wonderful and helpful to me right now and they didn't realize how difficult it was for me until today when I just broke down and told them I couldn't handle it.. I'm just muddling through one day at a time and with God's grace I'll make it through with enough liquids in me each day. I appreciate all of the kind words, encouragement, and prayers that I know I receive from the people here, and for that I am forever grateful to all of you. Just been a rough day here for me and thanks for letting me ramble. Hugz, Penny

Hope you are feeling better Rosey! Let us know what your doctor says. I'll be praying for you. I know how frustrating not being able to feel your hand and arm are. I have something called Thorasic Outlet Syndrome. I can't feel my right hand or arm most of the time.. Actually it effects my whole right side. SO I can totally realate to you. Just wanted to update on everything going on. I have my appointment in the am to get my passport same day, my flights are booked, I've sent the deposit check in, gotten the cashier's check, but it says official bank check on it.. I hope they take it.. I should call and ask Nina. My neice will be here sunday night to go with me on Monday morning. We are going to stay the first night in San Diego and Ernesto is to pick us up there Tuesday morning. I'm so excited!!! I can't wait to be on the other side. I am going to try and figure out how to post a picture before leaving. I'll get my son to help me, but I can probably figure it out. I've been doing the preop diet and so far so good. I've only slipped up once.. I needed caffeine today and took a sip of my Hubby's DrPepper. Just a tiny one, because I really don't like cokes.... but caffeine was getting to me.. the not having it. Just wanted to 'share'. I can't hold my excitement in. But I feel nervous and sad and excited all at the same time.. I hope that is normal. I'll be seeing ya'll on the other side one week from today!! woo hoooo:smile1:

Paula Deen ROCKS!! She is adorable, but she does like her butter! What can I say, my mom cooked just like that, as a matter of fact a lot of the recipes she has are things I grew up cooking.. Maybe that explains why I need to have surgery now.. I do not watch the food network, it makes me hungry.. my 15 year old loves to watch it, but he does so in his bedroom when I'm at home. He loves to cook. Takes after my brothers, all 5 of them can outcook us three girls..

My surgery is the 29th with Dr A., so I'll be coming in as you are checking out.. I won't arrive until after you are already gone.. I would have loved to meet you. As my Mom used to say, " Penny, you are borrowing trouble." I keep wondering all the "what if's" What if something in my lab isn't 100 percent , what if I'm pregnant. HELLO i'm 45 and had a hysterectomy.. See told ya I was borrowing trouble.. SO.. I came here to find out what in the labs would keep them from doing surgery.. just so that I know the information.. I'm not sick, pregnant, or anything else that I would think would cause complications.. Just wondering and worrying, cause that is what I do best.. I know everything is fine.. I just can't stop it.. I try to distract me.. I'm building me a farm on farmtown via facebook. LOL but the crops are growing so slow and I just keep coming back and reading and going to the other board and reading. I am just trying to gain and process all the informationn that I can find right now.. I guess i'm 'venting;.. just can't seem to concentrate on anything besides getting everything together for the surgery.. I"m so ready for the July 29th to get here.. Thanks ya'll. I had lab work done about 2 months ago and my cholesterol was up a little as was my triglycerides, but wasn't anemic and iron was good.. Had a chest xray and it was fine. had breathing tests and nothing abnormal there.. I think I am good to go.. I haven't had an ekg is many many years.. at least 5.
