I just sent in my paperwork on Tuesday, so I am very new to this whole process. I have chosen Dr. Stanish as my surgeon...anyone else have him? -Sandi

Well, after everything finally got turned into Insurance, come to find out they are going to require 12 months of supervised weight loss. :faint: So It'll be February 2008 before we can even turn stuff into Insurance again.

I am currently waiting for Insurance approval for the lap-band. When my Doc and dietitian told me that after the lap-band I need to eat sugar free, I just accepted it as fact. No more than 5 grms of sugar per serving. But my mom asked me if there was a medical reason for this. I have just been going on "because they said so". Is there a particular medical reason behinds this other than to get you on a healthier diet? Thanks!!

Aug 6th!! How exciting. I have been really happy with the people at the center too! DO you plan on going to any of the support group meetings?

Hi Lori!! My paperwork is finally being submitted to Insurance next Week. I need a 6 month doctor supervised program before they would approve me, so I haven't had it yet. hoosierpoms and mbdavis24 - how are you guys doing? You are about 3 weeks out now. Are you on Mushies? How are you feeling? Please fill us in! I just had apt 4 with the WLS doctor, so I can call the hospital tomorrow and get the ball rolling. Kimmie - how goes it??

Kimmie!! That's where I am going. Everyone over has been just great so far!!! Are you working with Chris? Have you been to one of their seminars? Even though I already know what I want, the seminars are nice because you can put a face with a name.

hoosierpoms - So what did they say on Tuesday? Did you get a date?? I'm so excited for you?? mbdavis24 - less than a week to go!! How is the liquid diet going? ARe you getting excited? Kimmie - Anything yet?? June will be month 4 of the "stupervised" diet. After that appt, I can call the hospital and get things going again. I have my psych eval on monday, so at least that willbe done!!! My last appt will be in August, so I hope to be banded early September!

And the wait will continue. I just got the word that I need a 6 month doctor supervised program to have it paid for by my Insurance company. :confused: The good news is that I'm 1 month into that, but it will be at least 5 months before I can have the surgery. At least the ball is rolling. Now I know. Still....:cry :cry

What's your preop diet look like? Jamie was telling me that Dr. Stanish has a 2 week liquid diet. Don't ask me why, but I can't wait for that! The weight that will drop off during it! Wooo Hooo!! Kimmie - there is a doc right in Merrillville that specializes in the "medically supervised diet" needed for WLS. It they come back saying that, I'll shoot you the name & number. I see you are a teacher..me too...kinda. I teach computer software for a company.

Yes, they do have you do everything before you meet with the surgeon...but I kinda like that. Step 1 is...will your insurance pay for it? That's what I want to know 1st anyway. And then all the medical stuff. That way when I meet with the surgeon, he has all the info he needs. I went to a seminar at Methodist. Did you ever attend 1 there? Anyway, as long as you feel good about your surgeon, that's all that matters!! It'll be interesting to see the process. What's making you nervous. I'm just so excited. I want it now!!!
