    Newbie

Welcome! I'm having surgery with Dr. Rodriguez on July 21st, and my regular PCP will see me with no issues. If anything "major" arises though, I'll be straight to the ER.. So..with that said, lets plan for a totally uneventful surgery and recovery! Good luck on your journey! Dana
  5. It's Jose Rodriguez that we're going to, I sure hope he makes tiny sleeves, I need all the help I can get! I'm going to ask him to make it extra small..lol
  6. I wonder if that facilitator is new? I spoke with 2 different facilitators, Ishi, and Jessica who both had surgery with Dr. Rod and they were very informative. I wanted to speak to the doc personally, I spoke with a couple other surgeons in my quest to find one I was completely comfortable with. He told me that at least 50% of his patients come to Juarez alone, and that Ruth(at the hospital) will take very good care of us :001_tt2: He told me that he hasn't had any leaks, and that he has done over 500 sleeves, for a few years, the Lap-Band has been the "favorite" procedure for people going to him, but over the past couple years, the sleeve is in the forefront. We had a very nice conversation, he was concerned with how I felt and wanted to make sure he answered any questions I had, he addressed everything I asked, and I'm confident things are going to go just great. I was asking technical questions about the staples, the leak tests, surgery time, and he was informative and calming. I was getting alot of static from my family about going to MX, and he made me feel more at ease. I'm ready, still nervous about the whole thing, but I'm at ease knowing we will be in a hospital for our entire stay. Good luck on the 9th! Let me know how it goes
  7. I have heard stories about leaks, it's all about the staples-if you have a leak, it's not a good thing, but I don't necessarily think it's the most common thing either, trust me, the docs don't want any leaks, that's why they do 2 or 3 different tests to make sure that your staples are intact. You know what happens to us? We read, read and over read and get ourselves NUTS..it has happened to me so many time it's crazy! If you have done your homework and are comfortable with your decision, then go with your gut. Fear of this process is totally normal, just don't psych yourself out too much. I'm here anytime :)

  8. Hey Barbara, Dr. Rodriguez has done over 500 sleeves with no leaks- this info is per the Doc himself-I spoke with him last week :lol0::lol0: He has done over 5900 laporoscopic procedures-he's not a newbie by any means :lol0: Best of luck with your surgery-keep in touch-I'm going on the 20th:001_smile:
  9. I'm getting sleeved with Dr. Rodriguez on July 21st! I'll be arriving on the 20th for all my pre-ops! Anybody going that week?:biggrin0:
  10. Hey Dana,

It's your girl here in Omaha. Ok, so I received a private message from someone who told there story about leaks..it sounded more serious than I lead on. But, I have put a call into my Dr and I just talked to my mom (not a medical professional, but I value her opinion), and she just reminded me that surgery is also based on your health. I'm 30 and weight about 285, I have had no health issues other than being heavy and some infertility issues. Also, each experience may be based on each individual's skin too. It depends on how your skin heals and keeping your insisions clean. I don't want to be neieve, but I don't want to be paranoid. I had a friend tell me that she saw a report on CNN or something like that..that said people get paid to post blogs..it's there job to promote who they work for. Even if they are true, they may be based on a handful of cases. Anyway, I just don't like to be bullied.

    What do you think?

I do appreciate all the input-however, I did personally speak with Dr. Pompa herself, and she praised Dr. Aceves-so I would say that's a good woman there-don't you think? A shady person would have bashed him-she did no such thing. She told me she uses a 32 boughie, of course titanium staples, 3 leak tests, and gave me many names of recent/past clients who all had good experiences-I called them myself-all over the US. She is also AFACS-so while she is only an Associate-she is in the database, and I've found that not all of the docs in Mexico are. Can I get any positive notes? This is a hard decision, but even harder with mostly negative posts here. I'm alone in all this-no support, so yes, I'm looking for some guidance and support. Thanks again.:confused1:

    I'm going to MX!

Yes, the charge is a good option, unfortunately, with what I have available, I'm still a little shy..but I will work on it and see what I can come up with. I saw a special out there for $5000-don't even remember the doc-which seems unbelievably low-and kinda scary! Like I said before, my head is just spinning!

    I'm going to MX!

I'm a little shy on the $$...I'm close..so we'll see if I can make up my difference by then! I feel like my head is spinning with all the info out here, I don't know what to think! I will keep in touch with you! Thanks for all of your info :sad0:
  14. I've been in contact with one of his coordinators, but haven't made the decision whether or not to go with him. I've seen some decent feedback on OH, but not here. I felt comfortable with his coordinator, but there is SO much info out there, I guess you have to just feel comfortable and at ease with your decision. I wish you ALL the best! Keep in touch!
