    Diet off track

I'm 12 months post VSG, I'm 20 lbs from goal. My problem is getting in my protien consitently. Every protien suppliement I've tried I find intolerable. I was doing better for a few months and my hair started to grow back, but now it's falling out again. I know it's my diet. I guess I'm at the point that I'm not sure what my diet is supposed to look like. I have also been snacking on crackers between meals, which is probably why the scale hasn't moved in a couple of months. Does anyone have suggestions for my diet that would help me to get in the needed protien? Any advise is greatly appreciated. Deanna:help::help:

Thanks for all the encouragement and the suggestions. It does help. Deanna
  3. I just wonder if anyone else has had this problem. Up untill about 3 weeks ago, I thought I looked fairly thin. However, now, I feel like I look fat. I've not gained weight and my clothes fit the same. But, when I look in the mirror or at my waist line....I just see fat. I wear size 4 jeans, and size 10/12 dress. I've always been bigger on the top. I used to wear size 20 jeans. What is wrong with me. I feel like my gut is huge. I hate feeling like this.:001_tongue:

    Hair and loosing it

I tried the wig thing and just couldn't stand it. Too itchy, and I never felt like it looked natural on me. My husband keeps hounding me about..."I thought your hair would be normal by now..did they lie to you?....you should sue someone for lying to you!.......on and on, and on." As if my hair is the most important thing in the world. He hates my hair and that I'm keeping it short b/c it looks thinner as it grows out. Even if it all falls out, and I pray it doesn't, it was worth it. Being healthy is better than having a head full of hair. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm listening. :001_tongue:

    Hair and loosing it

I'm one year post op. My hair started falling out at about 4 months. It slowed down and started to come back at about 9 months. However, it started falling out again about 2 months ago. I've tried everything. I've been using the Nioxin hair products ever since it started comming. Out, I also take supplements. I'm not sure if my inconsitant protein intake is the culprit for my hair loss. I've always had baby fine hair, but I used to have lots of it. Now, it's baby fine and thin. I have wondered if there was anything that would help more, and if I will ever have hair like I used to.

I really appreciate all the suggestions. I did find that slim fast has a new high protien bar that has 15mg of protien and <200 CAL.

Raw egg??? Isn't that dangerous. Like for salmonella. But if it's safe, it sounds alot better than the protien powder.

I do like cheese. I quess the sting cheese wouldn't have as much fat.
  12. Good luck! It would have cost >$25,000 to get the WLS in Memphis, and the only surgeon doing it at the time had only done a handful of VSG's. I went to WeightWise just outside of Oklahoma City to a MD who had a long record of successful VSG's. It only cost me $10,000 for everything, plus a year of unlimited follow ups with my doctor. Of course, I only went back for my f/u appts through 6 months...it's a long drive from Marion, Arkansas. I know I made the right choice for me. It sounds like you have done your research and have made a very well informed decision. Congratulations and Good Luck. Deanna

    Diet off track

I can eat solid protien, but I get so tired of meat, meat, and more meat. Not to mention, it's so hard to eat meat on the run. I spent several months eating lots of canned meat...tuna, salmon, chicken, sardines. But now I want to puke when I open up a can. I bought a protien liquid that would give me 23gm of protien in 3 tbs, but it was unbearable and thick. :help: I have started eating some cottage cheese b/c it has protien. I had about 3 oz of steak last night and 3 oz of it this morning. I like eggs, but I can only eat one at a time and it only has about 9gms. I don't know. I just feel like I'm lost and I don't know how I got so off track or even where the track is anymore. How do other working women manage to get in a healthy diet. More than anything, I just want to be healthy. I have to much living to do to feel run down all the time. As far as the Hemp milk, I've never heard of it before. But if it taste good and has protien, please let us know. There is a Whole Foods Store in Memphis, so I'm sure I could get some. I'll have to check out the Soy Slender. Most protien drinks have an after taste that I hate. I sometimes drink the chocolate Atkins drink. SouthBeach used to make a Meal Replacement bar that had 21gms of protien...but now it's "new" and "better tasting" and has only 12gms. I just can't see consuming that many calories for 12gms. Thanks for the feedback. Deanna
