Thank you to everyone for the advice. As much as I want to get this started and for as long as I have waited I do think the smart thing is to push this out a few weeks. Yesterday the whole fire thing hit me hard and it was not a great day both mentally and physically. Can't imagine also dealing with healing from surgery at the same time. I will keep you all posted on my new date, should know that tomorrow. Thank you again!

Congrats on the loss. That is awesome!
You may need to mix things up a bit ...
Do you feel your workouts at Curves takes you to a high level of intensity? Do you feel you could do a week or two of eating perfect?
    Say ...
80g carbs, no breads or rice
    100g Protein
No drinking 30 minutes before/after eating
    1,500 calories total
Maybe give that a try to spark your system and up the intensity in your workouts. Use 5# weights instead of 3#. On the riser, try lifting your knees just a bit more. Make sure you are doing the lunges correctly and not just what is easiest ... These little things will make a difference.

I'll probably get slammed for this but whatever, no food is forbidden ever. . . it's how you use that food to your advantage. If you over indulge, well you'll gain weight of course. . . moderation is the key and as someone who is out going into my 3rd year, I have hit my doctors goal, surpassed it, and am maintaining beautifully. I eat my 3 meals a day with healthy Snacks and yes on the occasion i do indulge in yummies. I'm livin my life now and totally lovin it! Good luck !

If alone the recovery might be a good thing. But with a guest definitely has to be at Hotel Ticuan in a master suite for $95/night. Bubble bath jacuzzi parties with mexican prostitutes and party hats on my losing side party. Just kidding on the party but a nice thought.

It depends really on your ability to deal with people. Now as for me, lol someone might die. Likely me from strangulation from irritating someone till the try and choke me and I would laugh to death.

I make things interesting for sure. Poor people thats gonna be there with me. May god have mercy on their souls.

try Protein bars...I cut a bar into four pieces and it thru the day. If my stomach growls i eat a piece and it satisfys my hunger. They are kind of heavy so it stays with you better then a shake. I hope this helps.

circa reacted to PdxMan in Wait...shouldn't Calories Per Day For Weight Loss Still Work The Same As Pre-Op?
At the beginning for me, it wasn't that I was aiming for 500 - 600 calories a day, it was all I could do to reach that. I had so much restriction that I could only eat 2 teaspoons of mushed tuna which would make me full for 2 hours. If I ate slider foods, I could eat more, but I felt confident I had enough reserves to supply me for awhile , so I avoided them.
I am amazed that you are able to not only eat a piece of pizza less than a month out, but that it is OK with your NUT to eat a piece of pizza, thin crust or whatever. WOW! I had a slice 3 nights ago and could only eat about 3/4 of it, and I am almost 7 months out. Do you eat lean Proteins? How is your restriction when eating them? My NUT had me on pureed Soups 1 month out, but as we all know, every NUT has their own plan and there seems to be hardly any consistency.
I'm guessing the info from Livestrong is for maintaining current weight, not dealing with weight loss.
This is definately not a race, in my opinion. You should eat and do what works for you. My only suggestion would be to make sure you are not sabbotaging yourself by not following your team's plans for you. If they say you can drink with your meal, then fine, but know that you can probably eat more than those who don't. If they say to eat pizza, then go for it, but know that your loss may be slower than those who don't. You will still lose eating 1,200 calories a day and lose faster if you are able to exercise daily.

God allowed us free will, which has done many things - it has allowed us to think for ourselves, which has created medicine and treatment options, including this surgery. Because you're doing this for the RIGHT reasons, I believe God is on board with this. You are not using this option to do harm to anyone or for any other reason than to be healthy. I think you're good to go!

So tomorrow I am going to be 2 weeks post-op, and it is also my BIRTHDAY!!! Woohoo! I am allowed sugar free ice-cream so I will try that, obviously no cake for me. I think I will stick a candle in my ice-cream. I am also having my second post-op appointment, can't wait to get on that scale. I know my doctor will be amazed cause I looked terrible last week.
So what do you normally do for your birthday?

circa got a reaction from fluffylibra30 in Fee For Dietician And Psych. Consults?
You would be amazed at how many people don't know about the surgery and how absolutely necessary a psych consult can be. My aunt was turned down for the surgery because of her psych consult. She could not grasp the reality that she wouldn't be able to chow down on chinese food after the surgery. Yes, there are those people out there. Just like with the NUT. I have been through several programs and in group nutrition meetings, people keep asking "yes, but when can I have pizza/cheesecake/ice cream/cake/etc after surgery?" It amazes me at how little people actually know about nutrition. They don't know how to read food labels, they don't know how to measure a portion or even add up calories. I was beating my head against the table halfway through these meetings. While we may be a large amount of educated people on this subject (some of us could probably perform the surgery, given a scalpel! lol) there are twice as many out there that have ZERO clue what they're getting into.

You know, here people are mostly WAY for the Sleeve, at an RNY site they might be WAY for RNY. People want to support what they have paid for. And others that don't know much about any surgery will talk about the gossip they have heard. Look at the statistics, listen to your guts, look at what people say third, and make a judgement from that in the end.

You've definitely hit a wall and it sounds like your husband helped propel you there. Have you asked him what his deal is? Try and stay strong, but if you can't, call your surgeon and move your surgery out a week if it makes you feel comfortable. However, I don't know if your husband will get any better giving him more time to trip you up. Was he supportive before?

I'm headed to Mexico at the end of this month. I feel very confident in my decision, not just because of the money, but because of the research I've done on the doctor, the facility, my personal medical needs and the education of the doctor. I have an aversion to US doctors because of being misdiagnosed by so many doctors for so long. Fearmongering of some is to be taken with a grain of salt, so is the absolute GUSHING over a doctor or experience that was considered to be so perfect that birds were singing to them every morning. If its too good to be true, it probably is. If its too horrible to be true, it probably is. Take the middle ground and DO YOUR RESEARCH! I'm going at the end of this month, I'll give you a full account of everything that I see and go through.

I'm going to Dr. Almanza on Feb 3rd and I'm pretty prepared for what to expect. I do expect a good surgeon but things aren't going to be perfect. I already know that I can expect to potentially wait all day before my surgery because of the amount of surgeries he does. I already expect to be speaking Spanish because many of the staffers do not know English. I expect the recovery house to be loud and I will likely leave a day early and head back to San Diego the night before my flight to stay in a hotel for some sleep. I'm an insomniac and I sleep much of my time during the day so if I can't sleep at the recovery house, it will be necessary. I expect decent care but not anything amazing. I have had surgeries in the U.S. with surgeons who are less than impressive and also in a clinic setting just like Dr. Almanza's so I know what to expect. The idea of surgery in a clinic is not foreign at all. In Austin, there are several places just like that. I had surgery in a strip mall in Austin this year so it happens in the U.S. too.
