How Long After Surgery Were You Sore?
circa replied to randalljohn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
really for me just a couple days - after that the only time I would feel sore was sitting up from laying down - and that just felt like I did too many sit ups. I had probably the easiest recovery of any surgery ever for anyone on the planet though I think. I kept waiting for something to go wrong, it was really that easy. I'm 3 months out and ZERO issues. Hope you have the same result! -
So, I've been gone a while - a work trip had me pretty MIA, and work has been very busy since I got back as well. 1. The towe I use for the hot tub fits all the way around me and then some now YAY! 2. I can have the steering wheel all the way down when I'm driving and don't have to move it to get in and out of the car either 3. Clothing sizes have definitely changed 4. I sat in a booth at a restaurant after much anxiety, it was no problem - in fact, I had to scoot forward a bit in the booth to eat. 5. I got my wedding ring on and off my finger I had it cut off about a year and a half ago to have surgery for breast tumors and haven't even tried it on since. Its on now Now i have to get the cut in it fixed I haven't been weighing myself - I pretty much forgot I have a scale. I have to start being more active - working out has not occurred like I have wanted it to - but that's going to change ASAP. While I was in texas for work, I walked everywhere but here, I haven't been doing as much and I NEED to. I lost 10 lbs while i was off on my work trip for 3 weeks - not too bad

Having "girl" Problems - Ladies, Please Respond!
circa replied to Origical's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had bizarre periods for the last 5 years - they're finally starting to regulate since surgery. I thought about mirena or something else for birth control - I can get pregnant, but I can't carry a baby to full term due to other medical conditions so even without surgery, a proper method of birth control is necessary - so to be smart, my hubby has decided he'll "retire the swim team" What a trooper! -
Just got back from a 3 week trip for work - while there I had to buy some new clothes and that was great . I also could relax in the tub - still not as comfortably as I would like, but enough to fall asleep in there! The big Nsv for me was getting out of my hot tub and grabbing my usual towel that doesn't quite fit around me and what do you know!?! It more than fit around me! I had a good 6 inch overlap where there used to be about a 4 inch gap! I haven't been paying attention to a scale - being out of town makes that near impossible - when I got back I had lost another 10 lbs in that 3 weeks and I was bloated from that time of month and from travelling. I celebrated with a nice pedicure Sent from my iPhone using VST

Who Handles Problems Post-Op If Sx Is Done In Mexico?
circa replied to Finding Myself's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My ins co specifically excludes complications from bariatric surgery. Because I do live far away from my surgeon, I did purchase their supplemental policy to cover complications - should you need anything, they pay all your expenses including airfare to go back. The peace of mind is worth it for me. I bought it so I wouldn't need it Sent from my iPhone using VST -
So my weight started moving again - 339 this morning. That's 25 lbs since surgery in a little over 5 weeks with 3 periods in that time lol. Total of 47 lbs lost. I'm feeling pretty good about that Could it be more? heck yeah! But could it be less? thank god its not! I'm eating turkey meatballs in cream of mushroom gravy. A fave when I was a kid. Very yummeh. Excited about going to Texas - gonna see some old friends. Got a good gameplan for food and exercise. Just gonna keep on track

2 Month (Kind Of) Post Op Results - 1/28/2011 To 03/08/2012
circa replied to Biggie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might not actually be hungry - acid often mimics hunger. You might need the reducer, not the appetite suppressant. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
your stomach isn't a muscle so that shouldn't be a concern. You're about 3 months out - check with your surgeon to make sure you don't have any restrictions. I'm restriction-free at the 6 week point.

I'm so glad I never got my rings resized as i gained weight. I had mine cut off a year ago and I'm not putting it back on until it fits the way its supposed to! I wear another ring my hubby got me instead.

5 1/2 Weeks Post Op Having Some Issues!
circa replied to SpaceyCasey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about the same place you are - haven't had problems with acid - but I have talked to others that have. Definitely see if the doc will prescribe you an acid reducer or see if you can find one over the counter. -
You should be just fine - just make sure that you're careful from now on - pushing the limits can cause a leak - just stick to your post op diet and you'll be good to go!

Dissapointment ... First Personal Training Session
circa replied to Greeneyedgirl's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I would have read this "trainer" the riot act. Trainers serve a very good purpose, when they do their jobs. This guy was not doing his job. I would first complain to the gym manager about him. If something isn't fixed, I would find another gym. When you call the gym, tell them you had wls, and are looking for a trainer that has worked with others that have had wls. -

Revision After 5 Months
circa replied to luvs2lose's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Only you can decide - If its not working for you, then you have to make a decision. However, regardless of what surgery you have, if you don't chew your food enough, you're gonna have some discomfort. I think with the band and the bypass, its more intense than with the sleeve, but there is a valid reason for having to chew chew chew! Not knowing how much you have to lose, starting weight, etc - its hard to say what the average weight should be for someone with the band or sleeve to compare yourself with. But bottom line, if the band isn't for you, its not for you. Just know that with the band you can take it out - its not permanent - think long and hard about the sleeve - there's no changing it. That being said, I'm over the moon about mine. I thought for a very long time about it. -
so I have to go to Texas for work - which means hotel living. My coworker booked himself in a 229/per night hotel because its "close" to our worksite. I, on the other hand booked myself in a 119/night extended stay 6 miles from the worksite which has a full kitchen in it, allowing me to cook for myself instead of eating out When I get there, I'll run to Sam's or Costco and get my protein shakes and some initial food to start with and be on my way. I made sure the hotel has a gym and a pool - although the pool is outdoor, its texas and heated, so that's good. I'm excited to have a more interesting project at work. I'm extra excited because I'll be able to visit my best friend of 31 years, as well as some other friends As much as I said I never wanted to go back to texas, I'm glad to go there for this project - its about 2 months and then I'll get another project here. I'm excited about getting back to a project that doesn't bore me to death! I'll have lots of time for exercise and fun stuff. I'm happy about it

maybe switch up to a gummy Vitamin? I can't even think about chewable Vitamins - the thought makes me blech! Most important in the first week or two is liquids. Sounds like you should be on full liquids by now? Perhaps try either unjury or the premiere Protein shakes? I've found them to go down quite easily. I hope you find your answer!

check with your doc - a big thing, especially with swimming is to make sure your incsions are fully healed.

Eating Before The Surgery
circa replied to LadyIvy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 6 weeks out and have zero trouble with steak - been eating it easily for over a week now. The trick is to make sure its not cooked past medium for me - if it, my stomach can't tolerate it. Not to mention, you lose a lot of nutrients! I made homemade pizza a week and a half ago - that was amazing - I just didn't eat the crust - which I didn't really miss because i didn't really eat it before either. The only thing I haven't had that I had before was soda - don't really miss that either. -
3 days for me - get your protein and vitamins in! Water is also essential!

Hungry As Hell, But Scared To Eat. It Hurts Going Down!
circa commented on amencorner's blog entry in amencorner's Blog
I know its frustrating! Hang in there! -
So I'm going back to Texas for a couple of months for work. I swore I wouldn't go back there - its where I got sick - but knowing is half the battle, right? Well, hopefully things go well - I'm going to be there for a few weeks, then home for a few days, then back and forth for a couple months. Exciting stuff.

try to swallow smaller amounts at a time. It may seem strange, but even though this food isn't solid, you might be swallowing too much at once.
