  1. That's normal- gotta get up an walk off the gas pains! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  2. lost hair with kids? sure you didn't pull it out? lol
  3. I take a prenatal vitamin, b12, d3, fiber and calcium in the morning and another multi-vitamin at night. I'm also taking biotin
  4. prenatal vitamins can help - lots of extra stuff - we're not eating for two, but we need to get in the nutrients as if we were.
  5. awesome! I'm not far away - in Aurora - about 45 minutes from Carson!
  6. i don't really find that all that odd - my normal blood pressure is 90/64 with a resting pulse of 52. I was an athlete though.

    $65,000 Nightmare

Definitely contact a lawyer. Did you get your approval or start your approval before the 1st of the year? I'm wondering if your insurance policy changed at the first of the year and now doesn't cover the surgery. I hope it works out
  8. I didn't do the food funeral really - I had burger and fries for a "last meal". Fortunately, I don't have any problems with food agreeing with me. I don't eat bread, but I've never been a big bread eater. We went out for ribs and I ate a bite out of the center of a piece of garlic bread. I don't miss it. I crave crave crave red meat - and I don't skimp on it
  9. A former smoker myself, I know that it's possible - I haven't touched a cigarette in almost 6 years. I used chantix to quit. Not everyone can - but it worked wonders. I was also ready to quit. I had quit several times before - this time was permanent. The biggest thing is to be ready. You can do it if you're ready. I was a 2 Pack a day smoker when I quit. E-cig has helped many that have more of a hand addiction than nicotine as well - try everything g you can - your health is really depending on it - not just for the surgery, but your health in general as well. Smartest thing I ever did was stop doing the dumbest thing I ever did. I was a 15 year smoker too Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Who Did You Tell?

I have my hubby and a sister that know and a few friends. My family knows I had surgery to have abdominal tumors removed - I just haven't told them that I had this done too. I told the people that would be supportive. I don't really care what people say behind my back - especially if I already know I can't trust them, but my medical issues are MINE . They don't have medical degrees yet think they do. Not really something I want to have discussed at Sunday dinner Sent from my iPhone using VST
  11. Absolutely wonderful attitude to have!! I don't know why we have for so long let a piece of equipment run by a three dollar battery dictate our worth and happiness! I weigh myself every 3 weeks if I remember to do so. I think the stress of weighing every day actually can cause you to not lose weight. I don't answer to a scale - I answer to me Sent from my iPhone using VST
  12. if the doc is bothered by your questions, get another doc! There's never too many questions! This is your life we're talking about!
  13. there are plenty of meal plans out there that work - the problem is, people don't stick to them.
  14. I'm in Aurora - I had surgery in Mexico in January. I don't do the support groups - I have in th past but didn't really get anything from them. i think mainly because it was for all surgery types and the majority of the people in there just kept asking when they could start eating cake or ice cream or candy again. I just eventually got up and walked out - I'm not saying they're all like this - obviously they're not. Wouldn't mind getting together for coffee with someone local in the area though!

    Been A While

Its been a while since I've been here - I've been trying to pop in once in a while when I get the chance, but I've been so busy! I have now officially dropped over 70 lbs since I started my preop, and over 50 since surgery 3 months ago. I have had no complications, my skin is bouncing back thus far (I know I'll need to have some work done later but I'm good with that) - I have energy, I have enthusiasm and I have the best future ahead of me. I have been staying away from the scale - about every 3 weeks I weigh myself. I weighed myself the other day and I was at 314, and that's with a few pounds of bloat since its that time of the month. I'll weigh myself again in a few weeks to see where I'm at - I don't wanna see a 3 as that first number the next time I step on the scale. I haven't had much opportunity to really incorporate additional exercise other than being a billion times more active than normal to my routine, but I'm getting there. As soon as i was able to, I of course tweaked my shoulder. But I'm feeling better and will be getting the exercise roaring very soon. I have noticed some of my tastes change - I still crave red meat - that will never change. The large majority of what I eat has always been lean protein, but now....those "guilty pleasure" items - mac and cheese, potatoes, anything really starchy just doesn't do it for me anymore. I really dig that. Hubby and I went out to breakfast at Cracker Barrel and I had their egg sandwich, which I ate the 2 eggs and had a bite of the hashbrown casserole and a small bite of hubby's pancakes and they just didn't satisfy me - I just wanted the eggs! Wow - i just got distracted by Maks on DWTS - (watching the results show on the DVR and he was dancing to "Let's get it on" good thing watching him dance is calorie free - in fact I think I just burned a few calories watching that! haha!) Anyway! back to what I was saying! I've gone down in clothes sizes, I have the steering wheel all the way down in the car (my legs used to hit it), I sit in booths and feel small in them, there ain't a chair my butt won't fit in and I even sleep better and don't need as much sleep as I did for so long, I fit comfortably in the bathtub to take a bath (one of my favorite things) I'm wearing clothes I havent worn in years. I put on a pair of heels and not only did they fit my feet, they didn't hurt my feet. I'm getting my shoes back! Yay! Right now, I weigh less than I have in about 4 years. I cannot believe the progress. Once I got those f**king tumors out of my body, I'm feeling so much better - the only rage I have is that I couldn't get it done sooner. However, I have come to terms with that for the most part. I think that with the breast cancer scare, the steroid tumors, nearly losing my marriage, all the trials and tribulations that my husband and I went through with losing our jobs and our employer stealing tens of thousands of dollars from us has made us stronger individually and as a couple. Nothing in my life that I wanted has EVER come easily - but I tell you what - I have more appreciation for everything I have brought to myself than most people I know - and I will FIGHT for it. I cannot describe what all of these battles have done for me as a person. I'm glad that I got to know so many people here. I'm glad that I had the surgeon I did. While I'm not glad that our previous employer stole so much money from us, I'm glad of the outcome that we ended up where we did with the careers that we have now. I am decidedly in love with my husband and we love our life and what we have to offer to the world. We can't wait to see what happens next. Many that I talk to about this wonder how having to have surgery to have tumors and the majority of my stomach removed could be the best thing that's happened to me in a long time. I just smile and tell them that they haven't lived my life What I do know is that life is good and its getting GREAT If you can't tell - I'm very excited about the future.
  16. if its not bothering you, i don't think its a problem. I was able to gulp at 6 weeks out without any resistance. As long as you don't feel discomfort from it, I don't see why it would be a problem.

    Three Week Stall

stalls last as long as stalls want to last. However, if you ignore them and keep doing what you should be doing, they'll last less time and you won't have to worry about getting back on track. First thing I can suggest is for the first couple months, THROW THE SCALE AWAY. Only weigh yourself when you go down a clothing size at the most often. I used to weigh myself every day when I was dieting or training for something or whatever. Now I spend my time living life and letting my body take care of itself.

    Where Are You 200+Er's?

I was slow to start at first too - Its been 3 months and I've lost 50 lbs since surgery, 72 lbs overall. About the 6 week mark is when it kicked in for me. Yeah, I've lost the majority of that in the last 6 weeks. Hang in there - your body will figure it out. Just try to keep your mind from overruling your body.

    Regretting

Here's the thing - you're in the medical profession, from what I understand, people in the medical profession make the worst patients. BUT they're also the first to know when something really IS wrong. Because everyone's body is different and every surgery is different, its hard to tell if something is wrong. It does sound like you're dehydrated - being that you feel that way and can't get anything down. Find yourself some gummy vitamins and supplements - those seem to be easier to get down. I found the propel and gatorade to be too thick to my tongue - vitamin water zero and sobe life water seemed easier to drink than water. Hot water with a little peppermint oil in it went down smoothly - the peppermint oil can help with the nausea. I hope that you turn the corner very soon
  20. I'm right about at the 3 month mark. I don't know how much I have lost - I haven't weighed myself in over 3 weeks. I only weighed myself 3 weeks ago because i just got back from a 3 week long trip and wanted to see where I was. I've gone down a couple car sizes, moved the steering wheel all the way down in the car, can sit in booths at restaurants more than comforably, haven't found a chair I don't fit in, feel great and have been eating well. Energy is growing, skin is clearing up, periods are seeming to be regulating (which is AMAZING) I know that since I've started my preop I'm down at least 60 lbs and that was January 18th. So yeah - I'm kicking ass. I would love to have lost more weight but I haven't really worked out much - but I'm cleared to do that starting monday and just had tv installed in the workout room in the basement so ZERO excuses! I have had zero complications - I have never thrown up. I only slimed once but that was because I sneezed and swallowed too big a bite once. I get my liquids in and eat 3 meals a day and 2 Snacks. I feel better than I have in YEARS. I haven't had an adrenal attack since before surgery - and that's amazing - I was having them about every 2 weeks or more frequent before. This has changed my life back to being worth living again

    Discouraged! :(

You're not the only one that doesn't know what your body is doing! It doesn't know yet! You have so much going on in there and it put on the brakes until it normalizes. So many hormones and changes really can throw the body into a tailspin initially. Best thing to do is THROW AWAY THE SCALE!. Don't weigh yourself until you have to go down a size in clothes! Hang in there - you WILL lose the weight. Your body decides when its going to figure out that you're doing it right
  22. I'm 3 months out and have vomitted exactly 0 times. I do not believe vomitting is normal. Two things causing vomitting according to my surgeon, and a few others I have talked to: overeating, consistently eating things that don't agree with you (dairy products when lactose intolerant) and a complication. Sure, people may test their limits and vomit for the first few weeks, and initially after surgery, everyone's tummy responds differently after being operated on, but consistent vomiting is a BAD sign.
  23. typicallly, its going to be a longer preop diet and possibly a prescription to help aide in shrinking your liver. Its really better to be safe than sorry. Not only could an enlarged liver cause and even hide other complications, but when they retract the liver, they could damage it and a bruised liver is PAINFUL. Hang in there and just keep doing your preop diet - it will definitely help!
  24. a great alternative is to buy lipton green tea in bags, steep it in about 1/3 cup of very hot water and then pour it over ice. Add a little stevia to sweeten if you must, but this is a great cold beverage where you control the ingredients!
