Last night I had cream of mushroom soup - I pureed the hell out of the mushrooms with an immersion blender. Worked great! For breakfast, I had the same, but I added a little bit of cheese to melt in it. It sat kinda heavy in my stomach, so I'll hold off on doing that again. Lunch is cream of potato - also pureed. Its devine. Its sitting just fine :smile1: So I guess I just wasn't ready for cheesy yet. No biggie :smile1: I'll give it a couple days and try again :smile1: Just got a new project for work too - requires a lot more in-depth research than the previous project, and I'm not relying on other people to find things for me - makes my life so much easier! yay! We're getting a snowstorm here so the roads are free of people and full of snow, so hubby and I are gonna go do a little retail therapy so I can get my walk in Gotta love being from snow-ville and living in an area where people are afraid of snow

Well, My Dad's Not Very Happy.

That is an absolute LIE. Once you turn 18, and in some states, even BEFORE you're 18, medical professionals CANNOT divulge any information WITHOUT your permission. This is not an opt-out thing. I think you need to find another surgeon. Keep at it if its what you really want! -
Craving Chinese Food.....
circa replied to Joiebean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could go get some chicken and toss it in the slow cooker with some general tso's sauce that you can get in most grocery stores - that might help the craving and its still healthy! -
Bariatric Surgery (And After!) On A Budget

I keep trying to use coupons but I usually forget them. The last time I did though I saved like 15 bucks! Keep them coming! I'm trying! lol -
Some people will put you down because they don't want to be "the fat one in the room" - My sister in law used to do that to me when I was training for a marathon- I was already physically fit, but I'm 7 inches taller than her and have a bigger frame. Well, she was eating crap all the time so she was getting to be the same size as me - I started to shrink and she would criticize my eating choices, saying "I don't know why you eat that way - it doesn't do anything for you - its not working - here, have a cookie" She finally admitted that she was afraid of being the biggest person in the room. She saw her own insecurities being addressed by someone else, leaving her with the only one with the insecurities. She was then going to be "noticed" - if more than one person is "like that" you have this idea that you can hide among them and remain unnoticed. None of it is true, but I think your Aunt has that theory in her head.

@dorrie - do you have an allergy to medical tape glue? Sounds like you might! I had a couple areas that the tape pinched the skin and I got a couple of superficial blisters and those are healing and that's what REALLY itched. Everything's good now. If that's my biggest "complication" throughout all this....I'll take it!

Ever Wonder Why Life Is So Hard
circa replied to kwyant1976's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Its a hard situation to be in, and I'm sorry you're in it. I hope that she is there for you through this. I'm glad that you recognize things that your son is picking up from you and working to resolve it. Its very intimidating to have someone get in your face - especially for a woman. One thing that I think maybe your wife is feeling is used. You say you "need' her all the time. How many times do you say that you WANT her there. Honestly, you don't NEED her. You may be relying on her, but she may feel taken for granted. What can you do to show her that you WANT her there. That you WANT to spend healthy days, months, and years with her? I was a wife that felt very taken for granted. I was always told that I was needed - and it made me feel like they ONLY reason I was there was to pay the bills and take care of the house. It IS very stressful going into a situation - especially when you're dealing with other issues at the same time. In a perfect world, none of us would be in this situation. Can I suggest that you write your wife a letter? Talking to her leaves too many opportunities for her to not listen, or to hear something wrong. Tell her how you actually feel about her. Tell her your fears and what you are doing and what you plan to do in the future to make yourself a better person. -
may sound self-depricating, but I've already given the "do I LOOK like i need to eat more?" shuts people up right away

I'm doing great. I didn't have big hunger after surgery. On day 4 I started to feel hungry, but nothing that the liquid diet didn't take care of. I have yet to feel unsatisfied with what I'm allowed to eat.

I'll try to be there! -
agreed - you don't have to be knowledgeable about something to support someone in their struggles. Activity here can definitely help. Having someone to bounce things off of seriously does help - I can definitely say that

I Am Not A Good Cook - Any Ideas Regarding What On Restaurant Foods That Will Work Well With The Plan
circa replied to janerose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have I told you lately that you're a genius?! I bought the anchor glass bowls with plastic lids to do the same - got them on amazon really cheap when I ordered my mr. coffee cup warmers :tongue2: Love the recipe! -
If your liver doesn't shrink (mainly because of lack of pre-op diet) when they pull your liver out of the way, sometimes it gets sore. Happens more with bypass patients than others, but it can happen.

I had some cream of mushroom soup. It was delish! I pureed the hell out of the mushrooms instead of straining them - good choice. A little fiber goes a long way haha. I ate probably 1/2 to 2/3 a cup of soup slowly and stopped when I felt full. I'm quite satisfied with the meal and so far, my tummy has not had a problem with anything I've given it. I even had part of a protein shake today at lunch - It wasn't my favorite thing - but it didn't come back up or even give me any trouble. Just kinda sat a little heavy at first. It became easier as I continued on it.

I Haven't Stopped Regretting My Sleeve
circa replied to Tai29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That just stinks! I hope that you find out what is causing it! It very well could be lactose intolerance. Could you maybe try a soy or almond milk to check and see if that makes a difference? Its such a vicious cycle, feel like crap so you don't eat, which means less energy which depresses you which makes you feel like crap. I hope you find the way out of the cycle soon. Your tummy must just be super-sensitive. I hope you find a way to make your sleeve love you and you in return can love your sleeve! -
I don't have a problem with it - first couple days it was itty bitty sips. Now i can take regular sized drinks without an issue.

Well, I do just sit in a chair and do research. Its nothing more active than watching tv and being on here I couldn't imagine going back to a labor intensive job before a few weeks at least. I wouldn't want to run the risk of a hernia or a tear or something. Like I said before, I won't lift anything that's over 10 lbs right now.

You've made a big change to your body by stopping the bp meds. Let your body adjust - those 4 lbs are just gonna disappear Congrats on your success thus far and your future success!

Am I Being Hypochondriac?
circa replied to longer-life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its never a bad thing to call your doctor in a situation like this. Look, you already paid a good chunk of his second or third home off - I think you're entitled to a few calls You could have had something stuck too - I hope everything comes out just fine - better to call and have everything be a-ok than not call and have a problem -
Just don't expect too much of yourself and don't push yourself. If its really taxing - take a break. Work a half a day. Tell your employer that you're shooting for this, but would like some leniency in case you aren't feeling well. Most are understanding especially when you're making such an effort
