  1. Ketosis is a wonderful thing If the taste bothers you, just imagine it as lovely gold jewelry that you'll be able to afford because you're eating so much less haha
  2. I would totally go hang out with you if I lived there! It did amaze me at all the different support group meetings and nutritional meetings I went to how clueless people are. And yes, 99% of them seem to be bypass recipients. "Yes, but I like pizza, when do I get to eat pizza" "So I can have beer on superbowl sunday, right?" (their surgery was 2nd week of January) The people left needing blood transfusions because they're so Iron deficient, etc. Its SCARY to me. and I'm soooooooo sorry for saying this, but i couldn't help myself! SAN DIMAS HIGHSCHOOL FOOTBALL ROCKS!
  3. All of these doctors are exceptional doctors. The problem comes in when the doctor gets tired of the drama and stops using a coordinating service. Then they lie about him. Look at the actual true stats of a doctor. Its important to do so. Not all coordinators are drama queens either. Some are very helpful and nice. I was fortunate to have that. I can tell you that I researched every surgeon in Mexico thoroughly before making my decision. I didn't choose one over the other because of some 7th grade game of telephone that some jaded coordinators were playing. Please don't consider whether or not a doctor chooses to work with a marketing company as a reason to trust or not trust that doctor. Call and talk to the staff at the hospital if you want to know what's really going on.

    Period Question

completely and totally normal - it'll go away - the bloat for that time of month can vary even up to 10 lbs - feel lucky yours is 3 Its just water retention
  5. boy do we have a lot in common - mine wasn't accidents, it was actual poisoning. Our lives seem to be near replicas. Now we're both on our way back to the healthy lifestyle we once thrived in You are truly, truly NOT alone I do know what you're going thru.
  6. This too shall pass. Have you tried maybe using an unsweetened almond milk instead of regular milk for your shakes? The only person that knows besides my husband is one of my sisters. I understand not telling people. Everyone's post op diet is different from every doctor. It amazes me too that some people are on solid food less than 2 weeks out. I couldn't imagine that. As for the sounds, that's usually acid - are you on an acid reducer? Please just take things one day at a time and know that you're not alone. There are lots of us going through issues that lead to depression or other rough feelings. Just know that you're doing this for your health, both body and mind. Your mind and heart can't be fully healthy if your body isn't, in my opinion. You will overcome those feelings. We're always here to listen!
  7. I would definitely up the calories a bit and see if that makes a difference. Everyone's body stalls at a point where its used to being at. In the past, have you dieted or been stable at this weight? Your body does tend to "remember" things - it will pass though
  8. I have noticed it. I used to enjoy the bitter taste of nutratsweet - now I cannot stand it.

    January 2012 Sleevers!

try pretty much any creamy soup and just blend them to get rid of the chunks. Cream of mushroom was probably the biggest favorite for me. Cream of Broccoli, broccoli cheese, etc. I was also able to eat fat free yogurt
  10. I love the south beach bars. the adkins ones aren't bad either.
  11. I would just say to be prepared to get up and move extensively every couple of hours to get rid of the gas. I would make sure to bring a pill cutter in case you have to cut pills (antibiotics and pain meds) instead of crushing them - they taste just plain AWFUL.

    Who Does This Alone?

I wasn't. I haven't had anything for pain AT ALL since the day after surgery.
  13. if you get the jerky from a butcher or place that makes it fresh, its usually got about 1/2 the sodium of the packaged stuff on the shelves. Its also not that hard to make it yourself

    Who Does This Alone?

It really depends. I drove home from the airport without a problem. I would take into account your pain when you're leaving and have a contingency of a cab

    January 2012 Sleevers!

I'm 3 days into full liquids and I'm still doing pretty good with it. Between creamy soups, yogurt and protein drinks, I'm coming close to my protein requirement, but I'm pretty sure I'm hitting my liquids requirements. Making sure to have apple juice daily so I don't have to worry about all the milk and cream constipating me. I'm looking forward to mushies. I would really like some mashed potatoes haha!

    Swallowing Pills Whole

instead of crushing them, cut them into pieces and take them if they're too big to swallow.
  19. I think more information is probably needed - what are you eating? When are you drinking? Are you taking an acid reducer?

    Should I Be Worried?

Just keep trying to get your fluids in. I know its hard. As far as the meds, get a pill cutter and just cut it into little pieces and swallow. Works great
  21. I always buy cookies! And have them sent directly to the troops Works every time to keep them out of the house, but I don't feel guilty telling a little cookie monster no
  22. Nothing. Your weight is going to fluctuate while your body gets used to the changes. DO NOT WEIGH YOURSELF EVERY DAY! :smile1: I know its hard not to, but you need to give your body a chance to regulate to the changes. Every single person is different. Get your Water in - your body will retain everything it can if you don't give it enough water.
