  1. It may feel like you lost a friend, but you didn't. That person was NOT being a friend. She was jealous and hurt. She thought she's always have you to put down and compare herself to. I have a sister in law like that. Its become too hard to be friends with her so I'm not.
  2. I'm having an extremely easy recovery. I'm following all of my instructions exactly and feel that I'll be fine. I've been very proactive on my post-op care. I think its very possible to have an easy recovery and maintain an easy trip down the road. Everyone is different and everyone will recover differently. Some people don't abide by their surgeon's instructions and don't have a problem, other people don't abide by their surgeon's instructions and they end up having horrible issues of leaks, abcesses, etc. Every person is different.

When Can I Have Cheese ?

I was able to have cheese on soft/mushy foods. I had it melted in soup in the full liquid phase. Its really up to your post-op diet, how you feel and whether your stomach will tolerate it.

    Chili Tonite

I made chili for dinner and its going down absolutely great. I can't eat much, but it is my first meal with meat - and my sleeve is taking it just fine. That's very good news to me Thus far, nothing has given me any trouble and I'm so thankful for that. Hubby was very happy to have a nice hot meal waiting for him today - he had a rough day at work. Went to costco and got more protein shakes - got vanilla this time because my syrups came in and now I can do whatever flavor I wanna! Gonna try eggs tomorrow for breakfast.

    Mexico Questions

Where you are crossing is the safest area to cross. El Paso/Juarez area is where people are often killed/abducted. You'll be nowhere even remotely close to there. No immunizations are needed. I felt completely safe in TJ. Like ANYWHERE, even your own hometown, be aware of your surroundings. A Passport is plenty sufficient to cross the border You can take your prescription meds across the border.
  6. The extended release oxy, if you chew it apparently gives you a heroin-like high. I guess that's why, but I still don't understand it - jump out of an airplane -gives the same high
  7. I'm 2 weeks out I can drink normally - I can't chug, but I can drink normally.
  8. oxycodone comes in many varieties - not all are the extended release that have the high street value. I didn't have a problem swallowing pills - I did cut them to make them smaller and easier, but no problems. If the pain meds aren't working for you, please request something else- even oxycodone comes in a liquid form so if the doc insists on using that, he can prescribe liquids.
  9. All I can suggest to get rid of the "angryness" is to walk, walk, walk. Good luck!

    Chili Tonite

went down easy, but couldn't eat much - VERY filling!
  11. So I tripped and smacked my tummy into the desk (not hard) but it actually opened one of my incisions back up. Its not bleeding or anything - just well, an open incision - so now I gotta go get some more butterflies to get it closed again (I have some on it now but I'll want to be able to keep them on) If this is my setback then hell yeah - I'll take it!
  12. Its funny (not humorous) how so many people think that Canada's healthcare system is so easy and carefree. You just walk into a hospital and get what ever you want!
  13. Your weightloss will be slower because your bmi is much lower. I think this surgery is a great preventative measure to becoming obese. Overweight is just the doorway - its easy to open that door and become obese.

    Think I'm Going Crazy

This WILL pass. Set aside another time to talk - instead of over dinner - maybe go for a walk and hold hands - that way you get some intimacy, albeit mild, but it helps! Also - are you on any pain meds or antibiotics still? Sometimes wild dreams can be a side effect of meds.

    Failed Almanza Sleeve

That's why I said that not one person was to blame - it wasn't you that was blaming the surgeon - other people were.
  18. This is why you should speak to the doctor. Instead of getting information from 3rd and 4th and even 5th parties, or perhaps people that aren't all that happy about a loss in income.
  19. So what woud you do if your patient advocate was suddenly fired or quit? Would you change surgeons?
  20. Please. remember your body is going through changes. You will NOT lose a certain number of pounds every day. You just won't. Your body is adjusting. You're 2 weeks out from surgery. There's nothing wrong, you're just hitting a point where your body needs to adjust. THROW OUT YOUR SCALE. A watched pot never boils.
  21. In a heartbeat. I'm 2 weeks out and already feeling so much better than I was prior to surgery.
  22. I think you need to talk to the surgeon himself. Give him a call.
  23. I think with the fact that you haven't dealt with the sweets issue is the biggest thing. Peanut butter is about 240 calories for a serving and ritz crackers another 170 per serving, which is about 6 crackers. That's 400 calories right there. Try snacking on some cauliflower or cottage cheese or something instead.

    Hiccups

I get them if I take too big of a drink, but never when I eat.
