Had My First (And Hopefully Only) Sliming
circa commented on circa's blog entry in I'm in control now.
yeah no kidding - and not even sleeve related really - I mean it was just bizarre. I hate those sneak-attack sneezes! -
I was eating dinner last night and I had a sneak attack sneeze and swallowed something before I had finished chewing it completely. It got stuck, and the slime commenced. There was a little pressure-like pain - but once the sliming started, the pain was so much less. I started sipping water and while that may have made a little more slime, it certainly seemed to dislodge the food and slow the sliming. I didn't throw up at all and the whole episode lasted maybe 5 or 6 minutes. Total freak occurrence! Don't get me wrong it was gross, but it wasn't like my body didn't tell me it was coming, I got to the bathroom in plenty of time and didn't have any mess to clean up. Glad I paid attention to my body! I can see how that could be embarrassing if it happened in public and all! Today was an unwich from Jimmy Johns. The bootlegger sub - no bread. I ate about 1/3 of it. So tasty. 3 meals for 7 bucks - can't beat that

Capt Derel's Gastric Sleeve Surgery Journey
circa replied to Capt Derel's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I actually know a few AD folks that have had wls - a couple had a band and a few others the sleeve, one rny - the one with the rny got discharged because of complications. The others, I think 3 of them have been "found out" but command looked the other way because they haven't had it affect their duty. I think it also depends on what your MOS is. -
just glad it wasn't more serious!

severe pain, nausea, vomiting, fever...that was my periods before surgery - about every 17 days - pain and nausea would start about 4 days before that. Lovely. I had one right after surgery, its now been 2 weeks since and no signs of early period! I can HOPE AND PRAY that I have a regular cycle! here's to hoping!

definitely interesting. That is a new one - unless the insurance company has put in a exercise and mobility option to show you how to get moving and do exercises at home early on - heck, that's a great idea.

Yay! So glad you're doing well! I knew you would be! -
At least its positive support! Maybe at some point they or someone very close to them had wls and they understand
-
Wow - wish I had something to tell you - no idea what that was - a call to the doctor was the right thing - let us know how you are and what the doc says.

There hasn't been anything I've put in it that it doesn't like (that's a plus) I get a definite signal when I'm full (RARELY physically felt full before surgery) so no overeating Haven't had any issues with acid Haven't had any issue with pain. I feel satisfied at every meal. Its just a huge change. The steroid issues I had are getting so much better I have lots of energy. I am just finally on my way back to health. I almost feel like i'm turning back time.

a pillow definitely helps. even if its not a body pillow - something to support your stomach.

I'm being sleeved on 1/27 and I have about 200 lbs to lose. I live in Colorado and I'm used to being very active until the last 4 years. I don't have any comorbidities, however, I'll be having another procedure to have tumors removed from my adrenal glands a few weeks after I have my sleeve. Anyway, if anyone is in a similar situation, Coloradan or not, would love to buddy up and keep eachother in check

bosses and HR departments aren't bound by HIPPA. I would frankly tell them its none of their business - if your boss won't give up and you want to tell him something - tell him its a girly thing.

Everyone recovers differently, either due to pain tolerance, complications, desire, or a combination of them. I was full of energy on day 4. Haven't stopped since.

You do really need to deal with this issue - just because it goes in, doesn't mean it belongs there - and you obviously know that. There are strict guidelines for a reason - and its not to make you lose weight faster, its not to make you suffer, its FOR YOUR SAFETY. You could be pushing on your stomach closure and compromising its integrity - meaning, you could be causing a leak. There are been several stories on here of people eating things they shouldn't and causing a leak. Deal with your head hunger immediately. Don't wait to speak to the surgeon, get yourself some help NOW.

From the time I decided to self-pay to the day of surgery was just about a month and a week - I could have done it sooner, but I decided to schedule it for a specific day so my husband could go with me.

Pregnancy Vs Wls? Please Help.
circa replied to gutless's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
You're asking for opinions here, so here's mine I would bust my ass and get healthy. Health is #1. Obesity can lead to so many unforeseen complications with childbirth. Your health needs to be a priority. Sure, children can be great, but not if you're not healthy enough to care for one. You've had to go see an extra specialist because of your weight -that's a telling sign in and of itself. You might not have diabetes, HBP, high cholesterol and other co-morbidities now, but that doesn't mean they can't develop in the blink of an eye. Gestational diabetes is a dangerous and pretty definite issue with an obese pregnancy. Getting your health in order should be priority #1 in my opinion. After, you can try to have a baby - and if you can't, there's always adoption - tons of kids need good homes. -
I think you're going to have the best luck with eating real foods. make sure your protein intake is sufficient - that's the biggest thing.
-
myfitnesspal is not designed specifically for someone with a sleeve. Its just used to track, don't pay too much attention to the "goal" that they set. Track your calories, protein, liquids, carbs etc by the guidelines your surgeon/doctor set for you. You should in now way be getting 1500 calories in during a day.

Often when someone is battling with depression and going into something like this, a second meeting is asked for to make sure that the depression issues are addressed and that there's an understanding of potential medication issues. You should ALWAYS tell the truth to all medical professionals - you of course did the right thing. I wouldn't sweat it. Most people that are battling their weight battle depression.

In the first aid isle, there's some antiseptic spray for "minor cuts and bug bites" it works WONDERS!

For Those Who Are Blessed With No Hunger
circa replied to carbgrl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You get hungry - but then you eat and its gone. You feel full. That's a big difference from pre-op
