Absolutely awesome, WASa. I don't go to OH so I would never of seen this. I am going to print it off so I can refer to it when I need a push. I am so glad you re-posted this. This is such a good motivator. I know I need the "kick in the butt" every once in awhile and I'm sure others do too. Thank you. I'm going to forward to dtr. CMT, I hope reflecting on what WASa has said will give you the motivation you need to get back in the swing of WL. Good luck to you and come back here for support and a gentle push. carol

Super, I am so happy for you. It's great you have made the decision and awesome that ins will pay. I, too, was scheduled for band but changed my mind at the last minute. It is such a good feeling to be taking control of my health. You will be so very pleased with your decision, I'm sure. Hope to hear of your progress securing your sleeve.

I did OK actually. I wasn't sure I would but worked out alright. Husband & I and 2 other couples went to 2 movies (a movie marathon as we call it). They all had a huge buttered popcorn and drinks. I was nervous. I took 2 bottles of water and 2 individual 1.5 oz bags of jerky. I was not even tempted for popcorn. The jerky was wonderful. I was so proud of myself. I ate the jerky and was very satisfied. We came back to the house and had BBQ ribs and then watched fireworks later. I ate maybe a Tablespoon of baked beans and a slice of tomatoe. It ended as a very good day. Now bring on Thanksgiving. Oh my...

I found this today in my Simple & Delicious magazine. I had to try it. It really spiced up my veggies that I had for snack. Combine: 1 cup low fat mayonnaise 1/2 cup Dijon mustard 1/4 cup bacon bits 1-3 teaspoons horseradish. Hope you like it. carol

Questions about follow up care
carolnphx replied to MSgirlinFL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HI Deanna, Welcome to the board. Congrads for your date. It is good your doc discovered your thyroid results were off and prescribed you meds. The thyroid does have some control over your metabolism and therefore does affect wt loss/gain. I had a tumor on my thyroid and had 3/4 of my thyroid removed maybe 10 years ago. I have taken meds for hypothyroidism ever since. As long as the doctor monitors your TSH (thyroid) level by taking a normal blood draw and keeps you with in limits you are fine. Don't be concerned about this. Your doctor has you headed in right direction. It might take a couple changes in med dosages to get your level right. Not a big deal at all. Again welcome and hope to hear from you soon. carol -
Oh my word, you just mentioning fresh eggs brought back memories. Fresh eggs make the eggs we city people buy look anemic. I remember the yolks being so yellow it looks as if food coloring has been added. If I didn't live across the country I'd sure buy some. I can only eat half of a scrambled egg with my piece of turkey bacon for breakfast but eggs do keep in frig. Maybe SouthWest has a really good special going. ha

I buy the sugar free jello and pudding cups and they taste fine. The jello has 10 calories and the pudding has 60 calories. That is very do-able for me for a little sweetie.

I agree, the pudding cups make great icecream. I chose chocolate...I wonder why. Was very nice and was good having portion already there.

Super on your decision and your surgery date. I too was thinking band and changed to the sleeve. Best thing I have ever done for me. Welcome to Sleeve Talk.

We checked on the Mexican restaurant but is closed on Sundays, the night we were there. Good to know the food was good there too.

My husband, dtr & I went to the smallish Italian restaurant there on the hotel grounds. It was very very nice. Most of the seating was beside the huge wall of windows and you are looking out onto a beautiful resort area with pool and fountains. Very pleasant with supurb wait staff. They are dressed in tuxes and very attentive. The pricing was reasonable. food was excellent. The bread & dipping sauce was unbelievable. Oh my. I ate that too. There is a cafe there on grounds also but to me it looked like a normal cafe. We went in and asked to look at menu. Food sounded and looked good too. I had been told about the Italian place so since that is probably my favorite I chose to go there. I wanted 1 more Olive Garden type Tour Of Italy. I got much more than that. I am going back to Mexicalli for my 3 month follow-up and plan to go there again. Just have your wife decide what she would really like and go for it. Let us know what she chose.

I "have" to weigh daily, however I only record & count my Monday wts. Is interesting to watch how my body is reacting to my "journey". I am at 2 months post surgery. My wt will stay the same for a couple days, drop 2 #'s, up 1/2 # etc and usually end up with a weekly loss of 2-3 #'s. My daily intake is calories 500-600, Protein 60-70 gm, fluids 70-80 oz. Just mind boggling how the body reacts. I and all WLS winners just have to sit back "follow the rules" and be amased at what our body will do for us if we use our tool correctly. This is the best thing I have done for myself and I can't wait to see the end results....Guess I will have to wait tho. ha Bottom line do whatever weighing schedule is "right" for you but realize you have to be patient and let your body catch up with this new way of living.

Absolutely AWESOME....You have done great. I bet you have lots of stories you could tell. I'm sure we could all learn from your journey. Super job. Good luck with the rest of your wt loss journey.

Is the sleeve a second WLS surgery for most?
carolnphx replied to attitudefree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started with the sleeve. I was scheduled for a band however in all my reaseach I kept seeing so many band problems and /or band people revising that about a week before my surgery (4/20/09) I changed to the sleeve. I am so happy I did WLS. The 1st month was kind of a struggle but very doable. I have lost 44 # in 7 weeks. My strength/energy is back and I am ready to go forward with life. This is wonderful. -
I am so happy I got sleeved!
carolnphx replied to iammelissa's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
WASa, I think seeing everybody's short term goals would be fun to follow. I would be there. I have a couple. carol -
Hi, I'm Carol. I got my sleeve April 20th. Is there anyone else here that got their sleeve in April? It would be fun to have others of the same time period to go forward with.

When is this procedure scheduled? I sure hope it helps with your issues. Good luck. keep us posted.

Cigna Insurance - WLS Benefits
carolnphx replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow, I knew there was a reason I went private pay. I knew the rules were more than I wanted/could deal with but Wow this is mind boggling to see just a partial listing. I take my hat off to all of you that have gone through the hoops of your ins to get WLS. -
I had just read on another thread where you stated you had problems. I'm so sorry. Are you doing OK now? Yes, isn't it fun to watch the number go down on the scale. I weigh every day but only record on Monday's. I can't wait. I have to look. My main issue is I don't like to exercise but I am trying to get diciplined into a routine. You are doing great and I'm glad you are getting better.
-
Wow, I'm excited. I just came to have a look and found both of you, Ahchancey and Lib here. That is super. Looks like all 3 of us have lost close to the same amount. I too have lost 38# and have been same for 3 days. I'm waiting for the wt drop that will be coming. Maybe tomorrow will be the day....ha Ahchancey, I am so sorry you are having problems with reflux. Does Doc have you on Nexium or equivalent? I haven't heard of having a stint put in for that. Keep us posted. Looking forward for us to get to know each other and share this "adventure", as I call it. :confused1: More later, carol
