Do we always have to talk about the sleeve?

I have a cup of tea every morning and I put my Benefiber in that. It is easier for me to remember that way. About 10 then I have either an individual portion size Jerky or a Premier Protein drink. carol

I will schedule an appointment and ask prices and let you know. Like I said in the earlier post she works with burn patients. One time at a touch-up she called and canceled my appointment. When I went to my re-scheduled appontment she said this surgeon called her for emergency pigmentation for a burn patient. She put areolas on this ladies "new breasts". As the surgeon took skin/tissue from wherever she gave her areolas. That story put me over the top. Just think how that made that lady feel. Made me cry. -
Reflections from a Fat Chick
carolnphx replied to roseyandmusic's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I really don't have a problem with not being able to gulp liquids but my issue is that I cannot do cold. If I take a drink of anything with ice I get spasms like when you eat ice cream to fast. Room temp water etc is kinda blah. I am able to get minimun of 64 oz in tho. Usually is in the 80 or 90 ounces range. carol -

Daisy, actually I live in Tempe just to the east of Phx. Everyone knows Phx so I just started doing everything "carolnphx". When you come over here to work on your Dad's house you will have to stop by. I am maybe 2 miles off US 60 maybe 5 minutes from the airport. We will go do lunch or whatever. That would be super. Sounds like a plan. I'd love to meet you. I can't remember what the initial cost was for the medical pigmentation. Seems like I paid around $500 for eye liners and brow. Is $100, I think, for touch-up. Then when I stand looking at myself in the mirror and I want to add a pencil to brow or whatever I know is time to get touch-up. It is time now. I have been thinking of getting an appointmnet so maybe this will push me into making the call. When I call I will ask for current pricing and report back. Sounds kinda spendy but it lasts for a very long time. My friend does her lips too. I couldn't do that because when I am stressed I get cold sores on my lips and tech said that it would not be a constant color because of scaring left from my cold sores. Oh well, can't have everything, I guess. ha She puts numbing salve on areas before but still hurts but not bad. Is like blood draw pain maybe. When I was working I did on Friday and was fine by Monday to go to work. I just had to put Neosporin on the areas then several times a day. Is something I will not be without. Is definitely worth the $$ and the discomfort of getting it done. Her salon is in Mesa on corner of Baseline and Mesa Drive. -

I hate to do make up too. Maybe 10 years ago a friend of mine told me about Medical Pigmentation. It is like "tatoos". I had my brows done and top and bottom eye liner. The lady that did it works for a burn center and does unbelievable reconstruction. She has all kinds of credentals. It lasts for probably 3 years and then fades to the point I go back and have a touch up. It was a life/time saver when I was working. So I put on some lip stick and away I go. If dressing up I do Bare Minerals foundation and I am good to go. I love it. carol -

Oh my, what a visual. One of my sayings is: If you look, there is always something to be thankful for no matter what the situation. Well in this visual it would be that someone invented swimming suits to keep things where they belong and not let things float. Can't you just see a public pool pic of all us WLS winners. Oh my. Love it...!

Judy, that is super. I wish I had a place to use like that. My house is small and no room for exercise equipment. I have a stationay bike and an eliptical Gazelle on patio that works OK but is so hard to get me out there when it is 110 degrees. Any excuse, I know. Bob it sounds like you found the best of all places. Everything a person could possibly want to do and oversight too. Awesome to both of you. Good luck with wt loss & exercising. carol

Lisa, so sorry you are struggling. Do you have family to occupy your time/mind. I think I remember a post where you stated you took your dtr swimming. If I am right on remembering, maybe you could do activities with her to get mind occupied and off food. What about hobbies. I know I can lose a day here at the computer. Keep a bottle of Water near, maybe Protein drinks, and I use Jerky and raw veggies too for the chewing factor. I also suggest getting the "bad foods for you at this time" out of the house. If it isn't there you can't eat it. I know my husband baked a peach cobbler and I definitely helped him with that and I don't even like sweets. I cannot have things that I am tempted by in the house. I also agree with Ruthi. I have not used it but I know allot of people mention they use the 5-Day Diet. Maybe that would help get the carb craves out of your system. You have done so well. I know you can get back into this. Message me, if you like and we can talk. carol

Prospective band to sleeve
carolnphx replied to Bornagainbabe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was doing stationary bike, in the pool walking, leg raises, squats and lower body etc 3 weeks after surgery. Nothing upper body. At the month time frame then I started the upper body exercises in pool and the Gazelle. I don't like to exercise but I try to do routine on each daily. Wish I were like some on here that have gotten to really enjoy exercising. I have foot & knee issues and have to be careful with what I do. The pool makes that safer. -

Wow, Michelle, according to your ticker you are almost there. That is great. You have to be so very proud. I can't just have a bite or two of my trigger foods. I have to not take that 1st bite. I fixed chicken Pasta primavera last night. it was wonderful. I told myself I would only eat the chicken and veggies....yeh right. Well today 1# up...the 1st gain in my almost 3 months post surgery...I was wishing there were no left overs in the fridge. I think my neighbor is going to get a very nice meal tomorrow. I know I will be looking in my fridge and see the pasta. The sleeve is our life saving tool and we have to work it and it definitely looks as if you can and have. You have done great. Down with head hunger.....!! carol -

My throat just felt a little scratchy like I might be catching a cold or something that evening but by the next day it was totally gone. I would say you would be good to sing definitely in 3 weeks without concern. carol

I start my day with a 10 oz cup of tea on patio while husband has his coffee. I can't stand coffee post surgery. Then mid morning I have an 11 oz Premier Protein drink. I set out 3 16.9 oz bottles of Water and get those in during the day. That is 69 oz of fluids. That takes care of that without having to plan. It just is easy for me to get my fluids in using those 2 things as base. The Protein Drink is 30 gm protein and then I pick at an individual bag of jerky throughout the day and that has 13 grams protein. Those 2 things give 43 grams of my 60 that I'm trying for. This is what works for me. Good luck in finding a system that works for you. carol

Surgery this Friday (PV, Mex) Tell me what to take!
carolnphx replied to susimar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was one of the lucky ones. I did not have gas pains. My surgery was 12:30 so was late afternoon before I was back in my room and I wanted to sleep. I had very little pain. I think that was because of left over meds from spinal. The second day the only pain I had was lifting my left leg up when getting back into bed. The good thing is since the surgery is laproscopic there are only 5 very small incisions maybe 1 inch ea. That makes it allot easier for moving around. I felt kinda tired and drug out but other than that from the the second day on I was OK. Moved kinda slow but no pain. It is pretty easy actually. I was surprised. I agree with VA, I thought I would be able to tell that most of my stomach was gone but can't tell any difference. Guess is kinda like my gallbladder or my appendex. I can't tell they are gone either. I'm so glad I did the sleeve surgery and I know you will be too. The 1st month is a challenge and then the transition to regular foods is hard. I wanted to go back to my comfort zone of mushies but I also wanted "real" food. It took about a week to be able to get my mind into solid Proteins. It is so worth it. Good luck with your "adventure" into a new life. carol -
