Bmi Over 60 I Am 4'11 Questions
LilMissDiva Irene replied to newgrandmother11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
newgrandmother, since you mentioned you don't have any co morbidities then my personal opinion is look into being sleeved. Keep in mind too that the sleeve is able to be converted into both the Duodenal Switch or the RnY if needed in the future. Again, just my opinion... do lots of research. Good luck to you in your decision!! -

When You Need Motivation Or Have Qs I'm Happy To Help :)

This status is for all of those who are going through a "stall". FYI a true stall is being at the same weight for 3 weeks or more. You will have to change up your routine to break it. That said... it took me ***6.5 YEARS*** to get from point A to point B. So if you're feeling at this moment that you will never get to your goal, YOU ABSOLUTELY WILL!!! You just have to keep fighting. Forever!!! -

Drinking While Eating
LilMissDiva Irene replied to bellabbr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good afternoon to all, lets remain calm and collected while posting please. We all have our own ways of getting to where we need to be, and what works for one may not work for another. Everyone's journey is their own and everyone has the right to express how they are working their sleeve. The important thing here is to just remain respectful when replying to someone, especially if you disagree with them. Thanking everyone in advance. -
The Basics Boot Camp
LilMissDiva Irene replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Great, please check in with your progress!! Once your 5 days are up, you just go back to following the sleever rules. I agree with the self control. I'm sure that will be something I'll battle for the rest of my life! LOL Yup!! I'm actually looking forward to starting now, but I always need a timeline to follow. I'm never as successful just starting and doing it. I'll work it out the whole month of February. My plan is to do this on Feb 1-5 and get back to Sleever rules for the rest of the month. I'm hoping I can get my belly down enough by then. Whoot!! -
Bmi Over 60 I Am 4'11 Questions
LilMissDiva Irene replied to newgrandmother11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
newgrandmother, that decision is very personal. There are positives and negatives to both surgeries. Are you a diabetic? That would be a good reason to choose RnY over the sleeve. Either way, you will have to work your tool no matter what you choose. However it is much easier to lose fast in the first few months with the RnY as well because most of what you eat are mal absorbed. That said, there are plenty of sleevers who lose all of their excess weight very quickly. It's just not as easy because everything we eat our bodies do consume. In time though, we are also successful with beating diabetes and high blood pressure... including all of the other co-morbidities that come with being obese. It's just not overnight like what can happen with RnY. Good luck on your decision. If you like, look through my profile and pictures. I lost over 100 lbs post Sleeve and I have lost over 160 lbs in total. It can be done if you put the hard work in!!! -

Colors are usually higher in carbohydrates. It is only 5 days though, so I don't figure its much of a big deal. -
I Feel Like Maybe I Should Cancel My Surgery?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to AllForMy4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi AllFormy4, What you are feeling I felt myself. Even though I did over a years worth of research, when the time came close I began to second guess my decision. It is a FRIGHTENING thing!! Surgery is scary no matter what you are getting done - but to top it off it being something as drastic as having our stomachs partially removed completely and forever, that is CRAZY scary!! Here's what I'd like to see you do, take a deep breath, relax. Now, you have to seriously think about WHAT you are doing. Our surgeons do give us pre op diets for a reason, and that reason is to shrink our livers. They want us to have the safest surgery we can, and having a fatty liver isn't a good thing. They are slippery, large and hard to control. They are going to have to hold the liver out of the way to get to our stomach. Not only that, fatty liver is just plain bad to have. Its definitely better to take care of this now rather than later. Having surgery is taxing enough without having to worry about a shot out liver. Please do what you can to get back on track from here on. It does only take about 5 days to get the fat starting to move out of your liver. If you start now, I think you will be ok. However, I do recommend telling your Doctor that you have been cheating on your diet. Some Doctors will make you re schedule, but it is not to punish you. It is so they can give you the best chance at a safe surgery. This journey isn't for the faint of heart. You are going to really go through a lot both physically and mentally. You have to be ready to accept all those challenges for it to really work for you. Hugs!! You've come this far, you CAN DO IT! You absolutely MUST believe in yourself, and from where I'm standing you have what it takes... simply by reaching out for help here. If you need to talk my inbox is always open. -

Different Kind Of Full
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Bcole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is the best approach so early out, measuring your portions. Your nerve endings have been cut and you will be a bit numb in your stomach. It would be hard to tell if you are over stuffing your sleeve and that can be a bit dangerous. Keep doing it, your doing a great job. -
Different Kind Of Full
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Bcole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes this is typical. I get that feeling too. Mine has changed over time though, it's not that crazy hurt in my esophagus feeling anymore. I actually feel real full again, just super fast. It took a lot to get me there pre sleeve! I think it was around one year out I began to notice my "full" was like my old full. -

Yay, thanks for the friend requests everyone! My plan is to make February work for me. I do intend to work off this belly fat. I guess since my lipos I've noticed it more and I look funny... well to me anyway. I just wanna be super hot this Summer!! The First through the Fifth of the month I do my bootcamp - then from there I just follow the sleever rules. Also, I will be working out every single day be it cardio or anaerobic but I will be doing something. I will pick back up with my running a lot more since that is the one thing I've noticed in all my workouts that works me out the best. Since I've had to stop, that might be the reason my belly is looking flabbier, but it sure is annoying me. I will be logging everything on MFP so you all call kick my butt if needed!! -

When You Need Motivation Or Have Qs I'm Happy To Help :)
LilMissDiva Irene replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi losin, first of all your dietician will never understand you completely unless she is actually sleeved herself. This is a very common issue with us, and I'm actually surprised she has not picked up on this. ??? Does she work with other WLS patients or are you the only one? Don't feel discouraged. Just know that what you are experiencing will not last forever. Our newly sleeved stomachs are extremely sensitive, especially with foods or supplements that are otherwise hard on our stomachs. Most don't realize this but Vitamins ARE very hard on our regular stomachs, so of course it will be a lot worse otherwise. I caution anyone taking them on an empty stomach. Try to take it in with a few sips of Protein shake. Even though you are cringing, you must push through it. You need your nourishment. Hugs and hang in there, it will pass. HTH -

LOL FYE... No biggie. Perhaps you can start a thread for those who eat more vegetarian style eating. I do think it deserves its own thread, simply because there aren't enough of them. Hugs darlin' and aye... thank you for the awesome compliment!!! Let me know where you place it so I can pin it for you. -

Every time you start to make an excuse on why you won't do the right thing, imagine yourself never reaching your goal. Because that's exactly where you will end up.
