Week 13-- Let's Be Honest... Im Probably Not The Best Role Model For Vsg.

Hi Angie! Hey, aren't we human? I'm *still* working on perfecting me, but guess what - that's never going to happen. All I can do is keep chipping away, and getting the VSG is only the first step. And, you are still early out so yes, the weight loss is going to happen no matter what or how much you eat. Just know that it does get harder the longer you're out. I speak from experience, and though I'm not trying to lose weight per-se, keeping it off is not all that easy. It IS easier than before my sleeve, but again it does take a lot of diligence on my part. I can see that if I didn't watch myself I really could gain my weight back. Like you, THANK GOODNESS for workouts!!!

Getting Sleeved On April 19Th In Dallas

Hi Randy, I just wanted to welcome you to VST! I hope you will find a sleeve buddy. Take good care, and cheers on your upcoming surgery!
  5. You look familiar to me, am I missing something? Anyway, congrats - you've done amazing! :-)

  6. Good! I honestly don't know how many times I've stressed this to others myself... There is so much more to the journey than that little scale... so very much more.

    Sleeve, And Deep Water>>>Help Please<<<

I would only consider that it is the Ocean and you would need to use your abdominal muscles to balance yourself. Other than that a quick dip shouldn't be a big deal. Just be very careful! Since the Nurse said your incisions are fine.. again just the balancing yourself from the moving currents might be a bit strenuous and you may want to take that into consideration.

Not Sure If I Should Have Skin Removal

Great news Sasicas, I wish you the very very best!! Please be sure to share your photos on here! I'm starting to get really interested in the idea of skin removal. It won't be for a long time, but there's nothing like planning ahead.
  9. Heya Georgia, It took me at least that much time before I started getting my normal energy back post surgery. Some of us get this insane fatigue after surgery, and I was one of them. I think what changed was I bumped up my Water, Protein and started working out longer and more intense. It did help a lot I think, as well as ensuring I was getting all my supplements daily, especially my Iron, Vitamin D3, Multi-Vitamins plus Minerals, and B-12. As far as the gurgling... well I still get it this far out.. 18 months post op. I don't know how to get rid of it, I just live with it now.

    Nvs... Smaller Clothes

You look great Julie and you know I'll be one of the first to say to heck with tha darned scale!! It's all about health and you are in some tiny clothes... so again... the scale can go take a flyin leap. Oh and lucky you kept your boobs!! Now if you want to keep losing weight too, that's fine as well. I just think the scale gets way too much emphasis and credit when there are so many other things to consider.
  20. Hi everyone! I wanted to touch base with you all... because I can! On Thursday I will be 18 months post op. One and one half years exactly. Yay! I'm happy. Yup, that about sums it up right there. Here's something I've learned and I think by sharing this bit of knowledge it might help some of you who might be struggling mentally with figuring out how - when - where - what - why's with the Post Op life of a VSG patient. Notice the word "patient"... because seriously, you will never find this more of a virtue than after you have your surgery. This journey IS!! NOT!! EASY!! You're going to have so many ups and downs you won't know where you're headed sometimes. It's ok, and it's normal to feel confused by a lot of things! That's why this forum is so valuable, all of us pre-oppers and post-oppers coming together to offer support and some great advice. Here is something to look forward to though... rather than become fixated on how much one will lose on the first month out, or for that matter 6 months... concentrate rather on how your life will look IN ONE YEAR from the date of your surgery. You're going to have a Santa's List worth of NSV's, likely you will have cleaned out your closet and replaced all your clothes 2 or 3x over. Some people (for example my own Mom) will pass you right up and not realize that you're YOU... You're going to be bombarded with folks coming up and either congratulating you and/or asking you how you did it. You will probably get a little embarrassed by some comments. You won't need to buy your clothes in the Bigs & Talls anymore. Your shoes are going to fit like they should. You will be able to walk and workout with the greatest of ease and without much pain. Likely you will begin to feel more comfortable in larger crowds... and (if you're single) you might feel more empowered to flirt with others. You will fit nicely in stadium seats, in an airplane without extenders, chairs with arm rests... you will also be able to cross your legs like second nature. Your Before & After photos won't even look like you!! These are only a handful of all the wonderful things you WILL experience at one year out... that you will still be dreaming of at one month. Patience. It's THE #1 asset to have in this whole process. Have a great day everyone!

1 Full Year Post Op... The Real Test Of Time.

Hi TeamBrown, that 1-3 Lbs per week is based on average. Some weeks you won't lose, some you will lose a lot. Hang in there!!!

    No Carbs?

You can find Dreamfield's in most grocery stores in the pastas section. It will have its own little spot, and it has Spaghetti, Thin noodles and most low carb remakes of different shaped Pasta. The best part is I honestly cannot tell the difference!! And absolutely yes, YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
  23. So, according to the workout routine, Sunday's is the "Off Day". Guess I'll have to do a little shifting, don't want to make ANY EXCUSES not to do it!!! :-) So, the program begins MONDAY!!!

  24. The last time I measured my body fat it was in the 26's. I just checked right now and it's 25.7 which is considered smack in the middle of "Ideal" for a woman of my age. Yay!! That said, I can always get it better. ;-) And I will.

  25. No eating after 6 PM. I have to flush with water too. This is my "New" rule. I've never stopped this habit and its high time I did. Today is day three. I'm thinking about it right now because I all of a sudden got the urge to snack. Then I remembered... that's a NO-NO!! :-o
