Calling all February Bandsters!
LilMissDiva Irene replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just checking in! I have finally reached that 269!! I have been trying for years now to see that and because of my super terrific band I have done it! I'm not even really trying all that hard and yet this morning (again) it's 269.0... How fantastic is it? Very! I can only imagine the possibilities if I were to really tough it out for two weeks. Hmmm... Keep the stories coming all, let us know how your doing! -

Calling all February Bandsters!
LilMissDiva Irene replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey everybody!! How's it going? Well, I am on day eight post surgery. I was 283 just before slipping my big body on that Operating Table, and this morning I weighed in at 270.4. That's a loss of 12.6 lbs. in one week! I guess that's not too bad... I'd like to see a woman pull that off on "Biggest Loser", but then again - they are not taking in 300 calories on an all clear liquid, sugar free diet either. I finally got to start my "mushies" as of yesterday, and will continue until Feb. 25th. I can then go to softer solids like eggs and such. Actually this stage I don't think will be too bad, there are more choices, and the sf chocolate pudding cups really awoke my senses! The broth from last week was the worst! I couldn't even stomach it on the last day. I pretty much kept full on sf jello and juices. I was also already experiencing hunger on post-op day three! I have been really struggling hard, but I have done well! The thought of band slippage scares the sh*t out of me, so I have to stayed in check. I see jnbwilds and myself both get those annoying stuck burps! They are so uncomfortable! I just get up and walk them off, it seems to help a great deal. I just get up from my seat and piddle around until they make their way out and burp for what seems like ten minutes (lol), and the discomfort subsides. I too, along with many of you have been using the toilet for what seems an hourly deal. The number two's, if I may be so bold have been less than desirable as well. It was better this morning however since I was able to eat food with more substance. Finally, to top it off, the massive belly has gone down alot from the gas they pump in during surgery. So glad, it was very uncomfortable. I didn't however get those annoying shoulder pains some people experienced. Those chewable Gas.X tablets were a lifesaver! Now just to get these stinging little staples out of my belly! I am supposed to go to my surgeons office on Thursday to have them removed, but they are starting to get inflamed. I am going to call today to get squeezed in within the next day or two. My incisions hurt a little, but they are healing so beautifully. I don't think my scars will be that bad, which is great. I get the most pain from my port incision. Any pressure and it's really hurtful. I suppose that will go away with time, my body just needs to get used to the foreign object poking against my belly. Well, I'll check in again soon all. We are all doing so fantastic! Keep the news coming!! And anyone still waiting to get that surgery - YOU WILL BE SO GLAD YOU DID!!!!!!! -
They may suggest a fill, but that doesn't mean you have to get one. If you personally do not feel you are ready for one, just tell your doctor so. Explain everything to him as you did here and I'm sure he may agree with you. You will know when it's time. Good luck!

How Long Until You Got Surgery?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to DeRaco's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How far back are we going? When I finally got the courage enough to ask my PCP, I think that was probably two months before I had my first of six months dietician appointments. That was probably in December of 2006. I just had my surgery on Monday. So I guess over a year. It's a long, long process - but anything worth doing is worth waiting for -- and worth the struggles. -
I'm Back......and DISAPPOINTED
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Tracyde730's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Tracy, I have High Blood Pressure and my BMI topped at around 53.4. I made it through the six months dietician appointments and all the other requirements necessary to get in the hospital room. I just had my surgery on the 11th. I am right now weighing in as of this morning 279 (BMI 45.1), however I only record my weight once a week. Someone mentioned not many posts ago that these appointments are important. I wouldn't even say that, I'd say more a detriment. You have to prepare yourself for the upcoming. You need to learn new ways of thinking, and eating. All this is so critical to achieving the goals you will have to face. This is no small deal, so please don't treat it like it is. You should not act like this surgery is a drive-thru, as you see where drive-thru's have gotten you right now. I'm sorry if I sound kind of harsh, but it is the reality. Go to your dietician appointments, and by the time your are nearly done, you will definitely agree it was the right thing to do. You will get so much more out of it than you do in a two hour seminar. -
Do you miss eating?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to sadie11's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you all for your posts on this. I am enjoying my clear liquids, only on day three, about to embark day four. I am just as of this afternoon starting to feel hungry. I have found the jello cups really help with the feeling, but I get hungry again in about an hour or two. The broth is just not that great, but hey - gotta do it. Don't want to jeopardize in any way harm to myself or my band. I went through too much to get this installed. I did go through the last meal syndrome, and for some reason I am not too ashamed of that. I am over it now, and I know it's down to business. Besides, I did lose nearly fifty pounds from my highest. I have nothing but to be proud of myself for my accomplishments. I do hope all of you feel the same. Keep it up friends! -
My hospital experience, last minute panic on anaethetists trolley
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Grayorm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow, it was like re-canting every second a few days ago. Even after the worst part of them sticking that thin plastic tube up my ever so dainty vein(s) in my hand(s). Yes, they had to try two times. Anyway, when I woke up in the recovery room, my aunt who works at the hospital just so happened to peek her head in at that very moment. I told her "I made it!" which cracked her up. I am so glad I did this. For the first day I did wonder if I had done the right thing, with the pain and sleepiness - but as that has subsided over this past few days, I say YES! Even though I keep burping and making really annoying sounds... lol! -

I would love that! I chose Vegas because, well, it's Vegas Baby!! So much to do before and after the get together. -
Hello Everyone, I was searching the net for support groups with members who have had or will have the band surgery. I have still a few more steps to complete, but I am very close to getting that "date". My coordinator mentioned it looks like it might be by the end of next month. I look forward to all the topics and discussions with all of you, and I hope I can gain some valuable insight on what to look forward to. THANKS FOR THIS SITE!! :whoo:

Calling all February Bandsters!
LilMissDiva Irene replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello KTBUGG! Welcome to the club... by the way, did you mean February 6th is your surgery date? I guess so since if you really did mean January 6th, you'd be banded already. Hey everyone, I have been away for a few weeks, but I am back in full force. I wasn't required to do any pre-operative diet, but I think that was because I dropped a good 40 or so already. I might do a one week pre-op on my own accord - except for the night before the big dance... teehee! Keep the communication coming, and if you see anyone outside our little circle here that also has a february date, let them know about our club. Take care! -
I'm going through the last minute syndrome as well. I have been eating like mad, but I have been keeping away from those salty chips... That was my number one enemy too. It has also kept me from gaining like I don't know what either. I would like to say one thing though about the chewing. It does get monotenous, and it does end up hurting your jaws, but try to remember we will be eating FAR less than what we are used to. I don't think it will be that bad.

It has to be that Southern California Kaiser does not approve the lap band, because my friend did get the lap band through Kaiser. We are in Nor-Cal however. I am so sorry to hear that! Is there another insurance you can switch to? -

LilMissDiva Irene replied to Justin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't worry! Surgery is not as bad as you might think. I was so nervous the first time I'd ever had one - and now - well, I can't seem to stand the waiting! Good luck, even though you probably won't need it. -
Welcome! Please make yourself at home here. I have pretty much told everyone I know about my upcoming surgery, and I have been fortunate enough to have many understanding family members and friends. I know this is not the norm, but I have not run into any negativity at all. Telling people about the surgery is 100% a personal choice, but for me, I didn't want to carry that extra baggage around with me on my journey. I wanted to be light on the inside as well as out. I know stress has played a major factor in my weight struggles, so I am doing all I can to shed all that weight. Good luck to you, and please keep in touch. That is what we are all here for. Look around here with all your extra time, and definitely check out the before/after pics thread. It is incredibly inspirational!
