Can you name 1, or 2 things you would love to do once you reach your goal?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to mstrina27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG!! I hear you girl... I LOVE designer clothes and when I was thinner many moons ago, I used to be crazy over Guess?! I check the Vogue magazines every month and they usually have a good spread in there and the clothes are still just as cute today. I tell you, your idea sounds great with the runway! No doubt the guys will try to get the digits, but you're not having that... Or maybe you might, who knows! If they are cute enough!! What will I do or want to do? Spend every waking moment at the mall picking out cute clothes for my new cute but not so flat booty!! lol I also want to just go out and have more fun. I spent too much time not doing things because I didn't feel good about myself. Those days are over now. -
weighting to be banded in Oklahoma!
LilMissDiva Irene replied to holly-in-ok's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to LBT Holly! Look around, and ask many questions. There are so many knowledgeable folks here who have been banded many, many years. Some who, like myself who have just been banded and going through "bandster hell" before getting that oh, so coveted first fill. Then there are some like you who are still going through the pre-op approval process. Hope to see you around! -
Nope, you surely are not alone on that. :tt2:

I have changed my goal weight several times already. I used to weigh about 135-140 before I started to gain all kinds of weight in my early 20's. I'm saying 150 because I think it would be reasonable to weigh that with what I expect will be some extra skin. Also, I will be within the healthy weight range which is what I had always aimed for. I do plan to someday have all that removed, which will hopefully put my right back in my High School weight range or close. No harm in figuring things out as time goes on. To each his/her own, I say.

I have my bad moments as well, and I for sure eat more than I should. I have zero restriction and have been battling hunger since post-op day three! However, I must always remind myself of: Do I eat as much in one sitting as I used to? Absolutely not, not by half even. Am I perfect? Nope, so I do make mistakes - but I just get right back on that bandwagon. I am making sure that even if I have a slip up on my healthy eating, that I don't skip out on my workout? Absolutely. That is the one true thing for me right now. I don't have restriction, so I tend to get exteremely hungry which sometimes leads to not the best food choices. However, my exercise plan is the one constant! Restriction will come in time, along with more weight loss. Be patient with yourself everyone. We have all come so far. I see some of you who are saddened that you have not lost any weight in a week, but I check your tickers and you seem to be doing VERY well! Be proud!!

Do you think there is discrimination against obese people?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to milton5a's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This has been the case for me as well. I have been thin before, in fact I weighed less than my current goal weight is. I have found that men were much more courteous to me. As I got to my heaviest, it seemed I wasn't even in their realm. Recently however, I have noticed a lot more chivalry amongst them. How can one explain that? As for women, I find that they didn't mind being my friend when I was much larger, but the more I lose weight, the more these "friends" are distancing themselves. I wouldn't say it was anything else other than I am getting smaller, more attractive and much more confident. Some women find this a bit intimidating. However, there are still a few who look positively to my new changes and welcome them. This is how I am beginning to see who the true friends are. -
Hey fellow VV's. I have quite an interesting NSV to share today... It was the strangest feeling but, as I am at work today :gag:, I was sliding all around in my chair. I noticed a significant difference in the way my chair slides with me now. It is so smooth and quick, where before, it was quite hard to maneuver. Embarrassing to say... Wow, it mostly the little things that happen, that make you realize your body is changing - for the better!

Here's one I know everyone will have heard, but is so true: Eat to live, don't live to eat!

Juli, as I just started with these, I don't really have any others - but I will re-post the one from the other thread here. What a great idea, I hope we can keep this thread alive for a long time! Right now mine is: "Some succeed because they are destined to; most succeed because they are determined to." -by Anatole France. I never thought this would actually make a difference, but every time I read it to myself, I feel a new energy to continue for even that very moment. __________________

jnbwilds, OMG! I know you so aren't too tripping over that! C'mon, you are half-way to your goal and you are doing fantastic. Be proud girlfriend! I always gain three pounds during that TOM in a day, it's all water (not to say this is what happened to you, but most likely it's water) -- and one thing I NEVER do is move my ticker UP!! That little sucker stays until "it" goes (weight). Even if that means staying the same for a month. And, yes, it always does start co-operating at some point! :wink2:

Putting a face to a name
LilMissDiva Irene replied to travel_anna's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
gibson, no one here is ugly. We are all beautiful, both inside and out. The only difference is that we are working on making the outside a work of art. I've read many of your posts and you are a blessing to be around. Please don't let some snide remarks of others keep you from being that person. The truth is, some people are so intimidated and unable to accept that, they work on making other people hurt. It actually makes them feel better, and that is essentially their problem, definitely not yours. I will post some pictures very shortly myself. I am going to wait until my 259 pound set, which I do every ten pounds to keep a record on my progress. I am VERY close... :wink2: -

Watching what I eat is getting harder for me
LilMissDiva Irene replied to blj5362's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Juli, this is not dorky at all! I have just started this up myself. I even made it into a lovely printout, and I have decided to find an inspirational quote at least once a week to print out. So, every time I walk into my cubie at work, I see it posted there and I read it to myself. Right now mine is: "Some succeed because they are destined to; most succeed because they are determined to." -by Anatole France. I never thought this would actually make a difference, but every time I read it to myself, I feel a new energy to continue for even that very moment. -
I believe in you, White 06 and hsbeach! Coming here to open up was the first step to getting things back into perspective. You may want to seriously consider getting some external help from a Counselor as well. We all need help sometimes, and there is nothing wrong with that. After all, you went through the incredible and tough decision to get banded. You can do anything you put your mind to!! Keep us updated, let us know how you are doing.

Agreed! I have someone in my office that I got to know pretty good and quickly. Thought we had grown a frienship, which was nice. Well, just before my surgery and up until now, she can't even form two words to me anymore - even "Good Morning". I'm beginning to suspect the green demon has taken her place, especially when she looks me up and down and can't acknowledge anything. Anyway, they will just have to deal with us divas! Beautiful on the inside, and now on the out!! :wink2:

I just bought a size 16 - down from 24
LilMissDiva Irene replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great for you julie! I am so happy for you! Keep up the hard work, and just think - if you are already at your goal of size 16 now, you are going to blow past it without a second though with your surgery. Woohoo!! -
I know you can... I know you can... I know you can... !!

Negative people with negative feelings
LilMissDiva Irene replied to eigna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is probably the most true statement of anyone who is negative or rarely has nice things to say about others. The whole quote is great, but that last sentence is something that I deal with every day. What a shame that some people have to live their lives this way. -
No, I think it was just made up - it sounds good though.

Calling all February Bandsters!
LilMissDiva Irene replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's crazy! I am constantly burping! Especially after I eat... Anyway, checking in... 5 weeks post and down 18 pounds since surgery date. Everyone is doing so darn well - and if this is what it takes to be a BIG LOSER then I'm all for it!! -
I'm probably the worst when it comes to weekend eating, so over the years I have come up with a few ways to battle this. I even have one for you Jax, because I travel a lot too. Jax, try always carting a large ice-chest with you where ever you go. Fill it with healthier choices such a FF Yogurts, low calorie frozen Entrees, lite fruit juices (yes they make these), sf puddings, lean deli-meats, etc. This really keeps me in line during my travels. I really have no good excuse to "eat off of plan". Now for the weekend eaters... *Write up a weekend itinerary. Mark down all the times during the day when you are allowed to eat, such as 7 am, Breakfast, 12 pm lunch... etc. Post it up somewhere you will likely see it all day. If you are out and about, you might just have to make a pit stop at home to make sure you are eating properly. I did this all last weekend. For the first time ever, I think I actually lost weight over the weekend trying out this new idea. *Find something to do so that you are not at home, watching TV or doing things that you associate with munching. This is a great time of year to get out there and get yourself organized, garage or whatever. *Do some clothes shopping. Just because you are out shopping does not mean you have to buy anything. Just go around and try on a bunch of clothes to see how they fit on you. I find this is also great incentive to come back in a few weeks to see how it fits on you again. *Make your weekly weigh-in day on Mondays. This way you are completely accountable for all the mistakes you made over the weekend!
