I hate it when people post just to post.....

Why limit yourself? Do both, I say! You've worked so hard to get to where you are, and it will just get harder from here. You deserve anything you want when you have completed your weight loss journey.

    Port FLIPPED :(

Ah, thanks for clarifying. It turns out my stomach feels better, and I suspect the pain was from all the sodium I had eaten the day or so before. I will still ask my doctor if this is pretty normal though. Don't feel bad about not having had asked your doc what type of band you have. I didn't ask either and it didn't eved dawn on me until about a week ago. I do plan to ask at my appointment on the 11th. Take care of yourself and keep us updated on how things go for you!

    Port FLIPPED :(

NewCreation413, I sorry to hear of your troubles. I am glad to hear though that it will be a quick surgery and you will still get your fill at the same time. I'm just wondering however, did you experience any pains in your port site, or did it last a long time? Could you feel your port sticking out? I only ask, because I can feel mine and it has been sore today. I would like to consider myself a minor hypochondriac... Again, I wish you the best and a fast healing!

    Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Peabody, it was so great! I have not craved any chips today at all. I cannot describe how wonderful it felt, it was almost like I felt like I defeated them in a sense. Sounds like you too had a great NSV, and yes we are so kicking but over here in VV land. I have yet another as a matter of fact! It seems like I am have at least one a day right now. This was is a real kicker, it must have been the sodium from yesterdays "chip episode", but my port site feels a little sore today. Well, I was telling my husband and it is kind of poking out and you can feel it. We were sitting side by side and his arm was around me, so he reaches around from the back way to try to feel it. It was the funniest thing, he rubs his finger along my rib cage and says, "yes, I can feel it!" I started laughing so hard, and I told him, "no, that is my ribcage - I know you have not felt my ribs in a really long time". He started laughing so hard he almost started crying! That was so great! My ribs had been hiding out for about a decade - and my hubby finally noticed for me that they have returned. How great is that!?

    Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!

I have two NSV's to share this morning: #1: I am out of town right now, and as I am walking up to sign in to my motel room, there is a surveillance camera monitor right next to you. You can see what they see. It was the weirdest thing, it catches you from the behind view. I looked at it, and immediately thought, "who is that"? I looked behind me and realized, IT WAS ME!!!! How cool is that???? I smiled and realized my ass is sooo shrinking... man that will never get old! LOL!! #2: Ok, what could have turned out to me a major disaster, turned out to be so liberating for me. When TOM calls me, I always fall off the wagon. Well, he's calling and like a zombie, I went straight for the salty chips aisle. I bought a full size bag of Doritos as always. Yes, I can eat a full bag in a matter of two days. Well, I was going for the gusto, and before I knew it almost half the bag was gone. I thought consciously that, I really couldn't even taste the damn things anymore. So, I sat there feeling defeated because so far I've had a freaking good month. I started to feel fear in my heart, because I made a goal of 259 by March 31st, and I am so damn close to making that goal. I immediately took that bag, violently crushed the chips inside and took the bag to the sink, filled it with Water, poured the water out and threw the bag straight in the trash. It felt so good to do that!! Mind you, it had been over three weeks since I'd eaten one solitary chip! Well, I start today with day one (again), but a new sense of relief from this addiction! Woohoo!!

Ready, that is my favorite kind of NSV, when people notice! Sometimes we can be kind of hard on ourselves and don't really see the improvements. Brooke from Annapolis, Maryland

Hi Brook, welcome to LBT! I was just banded on Feb. 11th, and I have not had a fill yet but I an already sense some foods that already give me problems or most likely will in the future. I know I'll have problems with breads. That's ok, I really shouldn't be eating it anyway! I also have had much trouble keeping the weight off, so I think the band was my best choice. I started with a BMI long before surgery, so I had more weight to lose than you, but as long as you ensure most of your choices are the right ones, you'll do fine. Be sure to follow your post-op diet, it isn't just to lose weight, it is so that your stomach will have time to heal. You want to stave off any erosion or slips! Go to as many seminars or dietician classes as you can! Read, read & read some more! Get in as much information as you can, this is no easy task and you will want to be ready for that. I do have Blue Shield but it is Hill Physicians in Sacramento, CA, so ours might not be too similar. I did have to complete a six month dietician course prior to approval, so be prepared for anything like that. If you do, don't become depressed, you will find your appointments are very helpful. Good luck and keep us posted!

WYD, I am assuming based on your screen name that you are a man? Well, 3.1 lbs. per week is not unreasonable thinking in that instance. Good luck!!

    List your lapband confessions here.

I stayed on the plan, except for the following (keep in mind I started starving on P.O. Day 3): I did do the clear liquids all week until the last day, that evening I had a protein shake. I knew the next morning I would get full liquids and I figured it wouldn't hurt, and of course I was right. I sipped very slowly and listened to my body for signs of rejection. None. I stayed on my fulls for almost the whole week and started my mushies a full day early. Again, listened to my body for any irregular signs and did fine. I did my mushies (which was supposed to be two full weeks), but I only lasted one week. I started to incorporate my soft solids a week early. Not all the time though, only several times during that week. I was still pretty restricted then and got full really fast. The week after that was a disaster. It was that time, and I was craving Doritos, and like Shortgal mentioned, I am very addicted to them. I gained five pounds in 3 days! What a shocker! I immediately stopped and tried to regain my good standing, and since then I have not eaten one solitary chip of any sort in 23 days!! I won't ever again. I can't, I just can't resist them. I am on a pretty regular diet now. I can eat all meats except steak. I tried a very tiny bite last weekend and it was too dense. I did try a bite of pancake to (which I love) and felt a terrible pain! Never again. Hang in there everyone, we will get though this together.

Help...it's my time of the month and I'm severely bloated!

This is probably always going to happen and will have to be accepted over time. It doesn't stay with you but for a few days. I know, I hate it too, but what can we do? As I have lost over 65 pounds total pre- and post-op, one thing I have noticed is that my periods are become much more normal. Not so heavy and long. Hopefully this will be the case for all of us.
