I have had two fills and have 2.5cc in a VG 10cc band. My meals are holding well. I am a bit tight first thing in the morning so I just have a protein shake. I believe breakfast is the first step to getting that metabolism burning for the day. I enjoy a few small snacks throughout the day and can eat most solids well as long as I am chewing my food good and eating tiny bites and taking my time. I am losing steady at about 3.5 pounds per week. I have lost about 35 pounds since surgery on 2-11-08. I do my strength training exercises as well as my cardio and fat burning. I am very comfortable right now with my fills and my surgeon and I agreed to leave well enough alone for at least a few months now, unless it starts to get too bad with hunger or otherwise. I feel great!

Is that true? Staying full for 5-6 hours after eating? That's amazing. I was not told that, it was more like 4 hours max of just not being hungry really, not full per-se.

I've lost my ever loving mind!
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Angie4b1g's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, I think that is the first step to gaining a sense of normalcy for your life. If the other coach didn't even blink while asking you to come play, the he must believe you can do it. Now, you need to believe. That is great, I'm so happy for you! -
Very nice Ready! We all need a little boost of encouragement from time to time - even if it comes from ourself!

I add the clear liquid fiber to my breakfast protein shakes. 2 teaspoons adds almost half your RDA. I've been doing this for about a month now, and even though it took some time to get back to normal, I'm happy to say - I'm normal... -

Which celebrity do YOU think needs the Lap Band?

A note to Whitney: Get it together girl! I can't get into any of the " " of Love shows. I used to be in love with Brett Michaels when I was 16, but we broke up and I tore his picture off my wall the day I met Joe Elliot from Def Leppard. Of course my first love was Kirk Cameron and then Johnny Depp. I've loved many and left many more! -
One week post band and THRILLED!! Thankyou :)

clover, it's nice to hear you are doing well! I wasn't one of the people who helped you along, but I just want you to know that I agree, this is such a great place to get that much needed assistance. Everyone is always so helpful, and that can be so nice when you are going through the pre-op and decision stages. Keep the good news coming! -
Drinking while eating poll
LilMissDiva Irene replied to K@t's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I really do try to stick with this rule as best I can. I do sometimes, although rarely do take a tiny sip of water. Not enough to really even worry about. It was hard at first, but I did get over this before surgery so now it's not really a big deal for me. Also to add, my dietician mentioned that not to drink for about an hour after my meal as well. I typically wait even longer than that, more like one hour before my next meal. I then pack my water so as not to interfere with my next meal, while getting my quota. -

In Which I Come out of Hiding and Show my Naked Belly
LilMissDiva Irene replied to jnbwilds's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Becca, as always. You are so courageous to do this, and it is appreciated! Neck exercises... well, I do stretches in my neck and it does seem to help with the appearance of less chins, if you will. So what I do is, just totally relax first. Then take your chin and stretch it as far up as you can, feel the stretch of the skin. Remember to stay relaxed the whole time and move slowly around feeling the stretch all the way. I do about five reps, the I turn it around the other way five times. PS, pay a little extra attention to the sides, or jaw area. I usually stay there for a good two seconds then follow through to then other side, slowly. I hope this might help some. -

...and I just had one of those a-ha moments when you said that. The show you asked about earlier is "Living Single". The show also had Kim Fields and another full figured lady who did some modelling for LB's. -
Queenie, you are simply a sweetheart!

I've been rooting for her since the beginning. She has had to put up with a lot of daggers, but that's usually because the other girls get threatened. But, yeah, I do like her! :biggrin2: -

Just to retract a little bit, the average height and weight for a true model is between 5'9 and 5'11, and their weight is from 110 lbs. to 120 lbs and the standard size is 2 (American). How do I know this? America's Next Top Model baby!! This would make their BMI anywhere from 16.2 to 17.7. This is very clearly below the normal lowest healthy range of 18.5. I hope no one would want to go for that, it is also unhealthy. I'm not pointing anyone out here on these forums, as I have not seen anyone who did say that they want to be this. I just wanted to make a point that those who do want to be model thin is also going for unhealthy. Brandy, I loved how you pointed to mine and some other posts talking about Queen Latifah and saying the R&R is a good place to get our PMSing out rather than going out and eating up the neighborhood (improvising of course)! Anyway, I wish that were true... LOL! :smile2: -
Awww, schucks! Thanks for that. We can just continue to inspire each other, you are doing a good job yourself! Both doc and I agreed to wait a few months before returning since my weight is coming off quite fast. Also since I've had a hard time getting the right type of foods in. I've been feeling much better since my Iron deficiency, you know, energetic again. And I'm only about ten pounds away from my next set of pictures. I figure every twenty would be good. I did find some that were almost the same weight of my surgery and it was taken with clothes you can better see the loss. I'm excited!

2 good food things for me today!
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Ezma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks ezma for sharing! Actually, I smell a rolling thread in this... so... Two good things for me today: I actually have been great with my food consumption. In my training class today I won a little pin for a quiz game we all played to see if we were paying attention. I got one right!! :blushing: -
valvinnek, great for you to take that step back up on the bandwagon. Sorry to hear you were going through a rough patch. I'm sure most of us do. I know I do, but I just make up my mind to pick myself back up. That's what we have to do! Good luck!
-
Hi Queenie! Missed ya!! :blushing: I was just wondering about you... Don't worry, I'm far from perfect - but the weight still finds its way off my body. Hang in there. I've only got 2.5cc in a 10cc band. I can pretty much eat anything I want still (mostly). I just get full so much faster than I ever did before. That mixed in with the exercise routine adds to much weight loss. I wish you the best! :biggrin2:

I apologize for that post, I didn't mean to offend you personally. I was picking apart alot of posts I was reading and put them all together. I don't even remember who said what or who didn't. Anyway, I was full of hormones or was it the full moon? Who knows, but what I do know is this thread is just ridiculous! I'm just glad it has calmed to a degree. I mean, who cares if one person thinks Queen Latifah is fat or not? I happen to think she is a doll, and I also personally don't feel a size 16 is all that bad. But that's just me, especially since I started at a size 28/30! She is a CoverGirl for goodness sakes, and a beautiful one! She apparently thinks she can lose a few since she is doing commercials for someone (can't remember who...) and that is what really matters when it comes to WLS or other means - it's all about the user. The one thing I think I was trying to convey however is that, if you are in the public eye, and getting paid to be there, you have to expect some degree of public critique -- good or bad. Love, live long and laugh! No hard feelings here, Take care. :coolgleamA: -
How many calories do you eat in a day Victorious Valentines?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to BlessedTwice's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, no! I said I'm losing weight 3-4 weeks out of the month (because of TOM). I'm actually losing an average of 3.5 pounds per week.
