Hey Gibson! I sure miss you around here! We need you to liven this place up sometimes. So, when your finger gets better and you aren't so busy, come and talk to us... I think you are doing an awesome job. Hey girl, your pants are getting loose and people are noticing. Those are the two best results of weight loss in my humble opinion. I love it when I have to toss out a pair of pants because they just don't fit anymore, or when I go to the office and people tug on my pants and tell me, "dang girl, you are just melting away!" That just makes my day!! I does make it all worth while. Don't worry about the amount of time it is taking to show on the scale. As long as it is going down, then you are doing it right! Before you know it, more months will have passed and more pounds will have been lost. I think you are awesome!

LOL! I have seen that picture before and it always reminds me of Joe Dirt!!

That is so great, and I truly am so happy for you! I'll be looking out for your post!! You deserve the props!!

Welcome babs! It's always nice to see new posters around here. Look around and find some special interest groups, they are helpful when the going gets tough! -
Why am I GAINING weight?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to clover_brisbane's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't worry, tia! This is perfectly normal to gain a little back when you transition from your clears to your full liquids. I did, and so did countless others. Definitely don't let this discourage you. You will be just fine. Welcome to Bandster Hell! -
Brandy, click on your UserCP page and scroll all the way to the bottom. You will see I think your last five or so. PS, I am also interested to find out how the Power numbers work. So weird, one day I am a 1 and the next I am a 6???

Well said! fivebyfive, in answer to your question, my surgeon said "NO DIETS!". Adkins is a diet, and I am taking his words as lap-band gospel. He said the lap-band is there as a tool to teach us proper portions. I should be able to eat just about anything anyone else is eating, only much, much less. Since you have to take your time to eat anything by chewing it to oblivion, you should get the same satisfaction as someone taking huge bites and pretty much swallowing it whole. I do get that satisfaction. It also keeps me from bingeing because when I do eat something that some would think is a no-no, I have not with-held it from me long enough to go crazy with it. Besides, I have a little friend in there that tells me, "enough", with only 2.5cc in a 10cc band. I won't be getting anymore fills anytime soon, unless I get over ravenous all day, which so far I have been fine. I was told however that I should only take small portions on a small sized plate. I should eat my meat or Protein and veggies first, then a little carb last. The only reason this is, is because you fill up quick and you want to make sure you're filling your little pouch with as healthy food as possible. You need (good) carbs to survive. Don't think of carbs as an evil enemy, which I see you do not, so that is great. However, I don't eat a lot of bread because it has a hard time going down and seems to make me full after only two tiny bites. I want to eat more than that. Take it from me. I'm losing steadily at an average of 3.5 lbs per week, so no complaints here. You aren't doing anything wrong, so don't feel bad!

Hey all you bandsters that are ready for op, GOOD LUCK! If you are anything like me, you will be so glad you went through with it. It is so very normal to feel scared one minute and excited the next. I was a basket case and frankly was almost unbearable to be around. Now, I am getting slim and more confident as each week passes. I have lost 34 lbs in 3 months!!

No Food at Seminar
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Irish Ladybug's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe they will likely have something there for everyone to eat. It might be band or RNY friendly foods, so you can get a feel of what it's like afterward. I seriously doubt they will leave you all starving for six hours. Like Molly said, maybe you can call and ask. ...and yes, six hours is a very loooooong seminar! Drink some coffee before going in! LOL!! -
Stomach Sleepers - Does your band ever hurt?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I have to tell you - not being able to sleep on your stomach forever is just a bunch of horse doody. I have been sleeping on my stomach my entire life, and just because I got the band, it has not prevented this. I started off slow, because the truth is the port site was quite sore for awhile. I just put a cushy pillow to support my belly and slept fine. Then after a couple weeks, I was fine to sleep on my stomach without support and without any pain. I do still get port soreness from time to time. It's nothing real dramatic and usually will go away after a day or so. It also does not stop me from sleeping my normal way. I've kind of noticed it gets right around the time of TOM, and of course everyone's experiences are different. I do notice however that (almost) everyone here says they have no problems sleeping tummy down. -

Oh my, that's just... how dare she? You were very polite and letting the young girl know you already bought many cookies. No one should be made to feel that you cannot tell a child "no". I was told that all the time as a kid, and at the time it was disheartening, but I am now glad for that for so many reasons. What is that mother teaching her daughter with a remark like that? Good for you for standing up to that!! -
coolcrystal, its funny you mention that. I was just commenting on this the other day to DH. I told him, usually when I'm losing weight, my big booty just hangs on for the ride, but this time is different. My belly is hanging on this time around. My booty is shrinking much more than I'm used to. It is kind of strange.

January - Summer 2008 Challenge
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Jeni 85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh boy, I just found this thread right now. Wish I had seen it sooner. I just don't think there is enough time to make an estimate for three weeks. I'll check for the next one, since I love these things. It keeps me on track! -
Jaime, that is so great! You are so close to Twoderville I can see you driving right through those gates. You should be so proud of yourself, now don't you feel like you've accomplished so much? I've been right there with you, so I know where you're coming from. This is so doable. Now, just dial that entry code and we will be waiting for you to drive right in! Right on sister!! :::clapping:::

Which celebrity do YOU think needs the Lap Band?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to **pink**'s topic in Rants & Raves
Wow, you all! And I thought I had a lot of pets. Teehee! I love cats and dogs, but with my busy lifestyle I have to opt for the easy maintenance of cats. Ladybugs - 13 year old tabby Ziggy - 9 year old orange/white cream rescue - he is obsessed with me... weirdo. Man O'War - 1 year old rescue, long silky black and white tuxedo. He is such a loverboy. He is huge too. Buttons - 1 year old rescue(sister to Manny), short silky black and white tux. She is the wild one, and squeeks instead of meows. I love them! -

Georgiagirl, yes it really is tasteless and odorless. I really do like this product and believe me, it works! It takes some time, it won't happen over night, but if you take it every day it will help. In the mean time you might want to take a faster acting laxative. Denise, I did ask this because I thought it was strange to charge that low a price and the clerk at the cash register told me they do that with several products for only a limited time. I bought four bottles of it. I have also heard many bad things about Wal-Mart as well. It's kind of like a double-edge sword with them. If you shop elsewhere you're going to pay alot more, but if you don't you're helping your community and the businesses that choose to work their employees more fair. We don't have a Greatland where I live, and the price of gas prevents me from wanting to travel out of my way to get to one. -
What about those silly little Halloween costumes for kids that had those plastic blow-up heads. Not a trivia question, but I can't remember what they were called. Anyone remember?

Yes! Wow, that was quick. Nothing like a good dose of Christian Glam Rock to start your morning...

IT'S OFFICIAL: I am at the lower half of the 200's!
LilMissDiva Irene replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks everybody! You are so kind!! I just like to share the good news because I am so excited to have gotten my band. It's one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Working on becoming healthy has brought out more than just health. I also have become much more outgoing. In fact I have been doing lots of training at work. I work for Cal-Fire and this summer I will be called out to some major fires to help with payment processing for the firefighters. It will be pretty damanding, and I know it's not something I would have been able to pull off had I still been at my largest. I have in total since my heaviest weight lost 80 lbs. That is a lot of weight to carry around, especially now that I see I have about 99 more to lose. I often wonder how I was able to do that and why it took me so long to come out of that fog of denial. I think the fact I was diagnosed with hypertension really woke me up because we've had a family tragedy with it. I've seen that it is very dangerous and it CAN kill you... Anyway, stay strong VV's. We are all in this together. Take care! -
Megan, that is so great! You must feel like jumping for joy. I'm almost there (maybe 5 more pounds), and I had no idea NY&Co. went up to a size 18. Next month, I am SO there!!

As promised the product is called Ready Fiber and is made by Health Direct. Here is the link to the product (but you might be able to find it in stores, I found mine at Wal-Mart): Ready Fiber | Liquid Soluble Dietary Fiber Supplement and here's a pic: I do hope this might help. I know how awful it can be. -

Sorry, I forget the name at the moment, but I'll get that for you when I get home later. It is a clear odorless, tasteless liquid and can really be added to anything while cooking or anything else. It is highly concentrated. I bought it half price at Wal-Mart and it was originally priced at about 14 bucks a bottle. -
Man, I was just thinking about all this stuff when I was over at another thread a couple days ago. I didn't know everyone was talking about this stuff here... I read the whole thread and I am just cracking up! The 80's - we were such a kewl bunch!! Here's a few things I didn't see mentioned: - Feather hair clips or earrings. - Super long earrings, almost or touching your shoulders. - Little puffballs in all colors with the crazy eyes and the sticker feet, you could place them anywhere. - Smiley face T-shirts with a bullet hole in the middle of the head... - The Dumbass TV show called "Small Wonder" where this little girl in a red dress would act like she was a robot. Wheetsin got alot of the more obscure ones that I remember so I won't go over anymore of those. I see many were into the hair bands, and I was not an exception. I remember some weird rivalry between Def Leppard and Guns N'Roses. Well, I liked DL. Anyway, since this is a trivia thread, I'm going to post this pic here and lets see if anyone can figure out who they are:
