    Grrrrrr

Ann, don't get discouraged. Our bodies will go through stalls from time to time. 80's chick is right, sometimes we are losing fat but gaining muscle too. It does make it appear the scale is not moving, so it really is a great idea to measure our bodies too. There is more than one way to gauge our FAT loss. As long as you are staying on plan, the scale will get with the program. Also, everyone has different metabolisms. Some lose more than the average 1-2 lbs. per week, some are more along the lines of 1lb. per week. Some lose fast at certain times of the month and then nothing for a couple weeks, which is where I fall in. This might be you too. Nothing wrong with that at all. I surely won't let that discourage me, and I wish the same for you. I've gone through too much to lose this weight, and it will take a whole lot more than that to make me give up! If you're not battling hunger, then a fill is not a good choice. Just work through it, and it will happen. It sounds like you have the right mindset with the exercising! Best wishes!! 80's chick, don't be worrisome of the fills. Just tell your doc that you prefer the numbing, and I'm sure your doc will do it. It's pretty simple and usually only takes about five minutes, if that. Everyone has horror stories, but mine went smooth and pain free. Make sure you take it slow though, you want to stay away from being too tight. That you should worry about.

    Just filled...help PLEASE!

When getting fills its always best to take it lite 'n easy. You never know your doc, but you should ask that they go conservative. In my life this really is the only thing I am conservative about. kelrob, take it easy. Just keep doing liquids until you are feeling up to moving on to more and more solids. You should always be able to eat solids, so if it gets to the point where you are noticing you can't eat them, then you still might be too tight. It will take a few days however for your insides swelling to go down. Take good care of yourself!

    It's Kats turn!!!!

Kat, ...aaahh, a flat tummy! I have a LONG way to go for that, but a girl can dream, can't she. You are so lucky!! I am so blasted envious, but in a good way. I always need somehow to look far ahead in the distance to keep me in the now. Fantastic!
  4. sil, I had to do six months of pre-op dietician appointments. If your dietician requests a food journal you should definitely do that. That being said, I never had to keep a food journal, in fact I refuse to do this. I am not going to let food run my life anymore, and for me this would only exemplify that. But hey, it works for some people, so give it a try. Whatever works for you to keep you in line, you should do that, as long as it is not unhealthy for you of course. I did not lose weight pre-surgery, in fact I gained about 10 lbs. My surgeon still did the surgery, then again I didn't have a large enough BMI for him to worry too much. You really might want to ask your doctor about this, it really is important information for you to know!

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

Becky, WOW!! That is so commendable, congratulations on the hard work! That is so fantastic!! You give me hope. :biggrin2: My next mini goal is to make it to the century club. I have 19 lbs. to go to get there. I can do this!

IT'S OFFICIAL: I am at the lower half of the 200's!

Queenie, you are always so optimistic, and I just love that about you! Thanks so much, I look forward to your posts, they are a joy to read. Truth be told, I know I said it doesn't feel like I have to work hard for it, but I really do. I mean, I had surgery for goodness sake! I workout nine hours per week, and no leisurely stuff either for someone my size. I think I'm just glad I started my routines long before my surgery, a few years even with the exercising. It just was never enough and I realized I needed help with my food intake. I always ate too much at my meals! Not in a bingeing type of way, just my portions were huge (especially now in comparison). So I know my band is working for me now! And you girl are rockin' it too! Good for you!! Together we will get there. I'm so happy for you that your fill is doing its job, I know, there is nothing better than having the perfect restriction... at least for the moment.

i am staying on plan today because ...

Well faith, then you are on plan! I'm staying on plan today because the scale has been very kind of late.
  8. Yeah, I hear you. I'm not violent at all either, but I would sure have though about it! Remember that saying that went around for awhile back in the day "Mean People Suck"? They really do!
  9. That is so terrible!! I'm sorry you had to go through that. People can be so evil and nasty... WHY? That story just upset me really bad. I wish I was there, they'd get a screw aimed right at their noggins!
  10. I really hate when people see you coming and move out of your way excessively! Like, do you really think I need THAT much room? People can be so rude sometimes!

Just a little trick too when it comes to TOM, which some might already know this but, it is really important to stay hydrated during this time. Your body will hold onto it, which there really is nothing you can do about it. Hormones. But as soon as your body releases it, and you continue to drink plenty of refreshing water that weight will come right off. In fact, drink your (at least) 64 oz a day. It keeps your body flushing and your weight loss optimal.

Hi Ready... Missed you around here! Success in any form is to be commended and you have to be so proud of yourself. I'm so happy for you! Who cares if some think it's offensive, its art. No one know whats inside of you, but you. Maybe you can take some pictures of your art and post it for us? That would be nice!

IT'S OFFICIAL: I am at the lower half of the 200's!

Thanks Melissa, it really is nice to see someone with the about the same circumstances as myself. That is what is so great about this forum. You are bound to find a few around that have similar backgrounds and roads to travel. It's funny you mention the scale. Long ago I used to weigh-in daily to make sure I'm not gaining too much and it really would keep me in check. However, I was young and though I knew it all, so I didn't keep the weight off in the most healthy manner. Then one day I just said, whatever! and stopped checking my weight. Before I knew it I was in sizes only carried in special stores. I was scared at that point to weigh myself. When I finally did step on the scale, due to health problems as a result of not taking good care of my body, I was shocked. I had even lost a whole dress size at that point, so I know it was at least 10-15 lbs. more at my highest. Well, since I've been trying to be as healthy as possible, I do still weigh in every day, after morning relief and naked of course. I figure if I do it at the same time every day I won't see any weird fluctuations. It works for me to keep me in line, and I know that isn't for everyone, but if I didn't, I fear I won't work as hard.

    80's Trivia

I think those days were the best! We came up with our own thing. We didn't have to copy off of old decade styles and morph them into new retro or whatever the the heck. We only copied off of crazy styles brought on by our musical celebrities. :frown:

    Rep Power

Sounds good Indio! You're right about how posts are worded and taken different ways by different people. Doesn't mean one person's post deserves positive over someone else's.

Great post crystal! If you want to enjoy a little bit, no problem. As long as you are losing, even if it is only a pound a week, then you are doing a very good job. Let's not beat ourselves up over such minimal things.

    Rep Power

Or in your sig line! That would be too funny! :cursing: By the way, I usually give rep for reasons other than posts, like great B&A pics or if I see someone is doing a really great job at weight loss. The post, if I see it has to be almost profound to me for me to give a rep +. I just like to give props for hard work, but then again, this is a forum built around that.

    Dizzy when working out

Cerrin, you don't have to eat - maybe you can have one of those Protein slammers (Check GNC). They are only about 3 oz. and they pack about 42g protein. They aren't cheap though... My nutritionist suggested a good dose of protein either (no more than) 30 mins before or 30 mins after a workout. ...by the way, you are to be commended! You are doing excellent, keep up the good work!!

    Question About Fills

Just be up front with your surgeon, and he/she will make that decision. Your surgeon knows best. I know it really stinks and we want results yesterday, but take your time. You don't want to run the risk of being too over-filled. This can cause you to PB all the time and if you do this too much it can lead to other problems, like band slippage. Then you will have NO band, so just remember - a little patience goes a long way. I wish you the best!

    Dizzy when working out

Make sure you are also keeping an eye on your vitals. Pulse, Blood Pressure, etc. It sounds like you put in a very good session, so all the above suggestions are good too, especially the protein.

Can't eat all I'm supposed to

jrob, I wouldn't really bother with worrying about caloric intake right now. Your body is recovering from surgery. It will take some time, and be sure to stick to your doctors post op diet! It is incredibly important to do that. Believe me, the hunger returns, then you'll wish you didn't wish for it!
  24. Well said, 100% agree. People, please do not starve yourself or deny yourself a properly balanced diet. We chose the band because we wanted to know how to eat like a healthy normal person. One bite of banana isn't necessarily doing that.

That is so great!! What a milestone, one that I know we will all accomplish someday.
