  1. Thanks, I'm working hard at it. It's not an easy task, but you already know that because you're working hard at it too I see! Feeling lighter is such a great NSV to this.

    Good luck!

    Snack ideas?

Just another suggestion to those who enjoy the cup portions of snacks. I found these "parfait" fruit cups my dole. I found it in the fruit cups section. I tried the "Peaches & Cream" and it was very good! It was low in fat/calories - perfect for a quick snack.

    Favorite books/arthurs

 Ok, it's obvious no one got my joke so - Tara, you wrote arthur in the subject line instead of author. Nevermind me, I'm just a weenie. However, she could be an author too, I don't know.

    Bruising with fill

Yes bruising is very normal. My doc even mentioned it each time I went in for my fill. I had bad bruises after surgery, but none from the fills.

    Summer/Independence Day Weightloss Challenge

Don't worry kathy, it's really hard right before surgery. I had a hard time myself, but I got through it - and believe me, if I can get through it, ANYONE can! I can see you are dedicated to the cause, and you will rock that band girl!

i am staying on plan today because ...

...because I have nothing better to do. for my body that is! :biggrin2:

What the hell...I'll post some pics

I'm sure you look amazing! That being said, some people do like to wait it out a little longer than some others because they just don't feel comfortable yet. Nothing wrong with that... when you're ready.

    My inner Victory- Bravery.

Thank you Teri! ...and believe me, I won't change - you bet your bottom dollar I won't!!
  16. Vickie, nicely said! I also made this same pact with myself. If I eat it, then I'll count it and no guilt! It's the guilt that keeps you from getting back to plan as soon as you decide to eat that so called no-no food. Lynn, please post more! Your insights are quite interesting. Don't let your doc get you down. He probably didn't even realize what exactly he said. He knows the average weight loss of a band patient, but sometimes I think they forget because they are so busy. Especially if they perform both surgeries. Let me give you an example... Last night was our monthly group support. Well, first thing we do is stand up and say our name and mention our surgery date, how much we've lost since and if we are having to take any medications for HBP, or diabetes, etc. Well, I think there are only about 3 of us there last night with the band. Everyone else had GBP. It seems like the Bandsters aren't doing nearly as well because I say, oh, I lost 35 lbs. and my surgery was 3 months ago, and then the person sitting next to me who had GBP and had surgery just last month says, oh, I lost 56 lbs. Heck, that seems like a dramatic difference. Wouldn't you say?

    Calling all February Bandsters!

Hi erikadawn and lisalynelle, both WELCOME! Everyone is welcome here in the Victorious Valentines! We even get posters who were not even banded in Feb. of 08. We accept all. erika, I would say that 33 lbs. is quite normal. I was banded on Feb. 11th and have now lost 36 lbs. Not much of a difference really. I think most of us have lost at or near that. Congratulations so far on what you have accomplished! Lisa, 20 lbs. still falls well withing the average of 1-2 lbs. per week for lap-band patients. That in no way is an "only", it's more like an "already"! Good luck to both of you!

    Get Rid Of Your Scale

    Here you go...
  19. LilMissDiva Irene

    Get Rid Of Your Scale

I had to just buy a new scale because I noticed every time I would weigh myself just before visiting the doc. My scale would always be anywhere from 3-5 lbs. MORE than what my docs scale says. Well, my new one works great. Has body fat% and water% and all kinds of neat doo-dads that I'm too lazy to try to figure out. Good advice tchilambe!
  20. Lots of carboholics have a more difficult time with the band. Most bandsters have trouble eating breads and things of that nature, but other things like chips, sugery drinks and ice-cream have no problems. It will be wise to try to eliminate these from your diet pre-surgery. Then again, in the liquid diet phase you'll be able to kick those feelings because you will go weeks without eating period. As far as Protein goes, try not to get TOO obsessed over it. You can get protein in lots of other ways than just meat. That being said, you should really try to focus on getting your protein in other than liquid forms. Not completely, don't get me wrong, I have a protein shake for breakfast every morning, but I make sure that the majority of my meals are actual food. You don't get hungry as fast.
  21. Yes! Everyone's journey is different, but from the time I made the decision enough to discuss it with my PCP, it took one full year. I won't go into detail because there are alot of details - but you get the jest of what I'm saying. Good luck!

My nightmare hospital experience this weekend

(((((((((80'sChick))))))))) I'm truly speechless. I mean, what if you had appendicitis or something equally as serious? Would it have taken you to go into a coma before they decided, "Hey, this lady is really ill...". I'm glad it wasn't something so bad as that, but I do hope you get it checked out. Best wishes and let us know how you are faring.

    Wait, Wait and Still Waiting

I say give them more time. But what do I know? I was calling my insurance people only a couple days after the consult!

    Eating too often

Well, just these past few weeks and especially the last four days my weight has just stopped. Not one pound up and not one pound down. I was stuck at 249 for a couple weeks, then I step on the scale four days ago and it says 248, then the next day it says 247.5, but nothing since. So weird. Right after surgery up until now the weight just seemed to disappear into nowhere. No, I'm not eating too much, in fact I've gone down to just three meals per day. I only eat a banana as a snack - where before I would throw in a few extra tiny Snacks during the day. I'm beginning to think my body is going into starvation mode. I might need to go back to eating those few extra snack during the day.
