    I'm so depressed!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh no! Don't say that!! LOL!! We all have to learn to be nicer to ourselves, but it's also nice to know we have friends here who will pick us up when we need it. Thanks for that. I'm always glad to help you and anyone else. I'm so happy to see the not drinking with meals helps, and I know it does for myself. I always notice a difference when I drink to quickly after a meal. I really like to wait until I'm hungry before drinking my Water. That way I know for sure I'm not washing that food right outta my pouch. :::singing to the tune of that hair color song from long ago...::: By the way, I just lost three pounds over night, so I think the worst is behind me! YAAAAAY!!!!

    I'm so depressed!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, thanks ezma! You know I seriously never looked at it that way. It's so funny how one can pull out the negative and completely forget the positive when it comes to something for ourselves. We can so easily come together for someone else, but when it comes to our own problems, we fail to see the good that comes from it. You made me smile! Yay! ...and yes, Water... water... water!

Have you ever seen a 299 pound woman dance a jig?

Wow! That is so darned great for you all who are making this breakthrough. I remember it well, and I felt so proud - so I know how you all feel!! Woohoooooooooooo!!
  5. As it was explained to me was this: Straws - should not be used because air sucked up through the straw will go down with your drink and can cause burping/gas and an unnessary quick fullness. Well, I burp and have air trapped in my band all the time anyway and I'm usually full quick too, so I use straws. Carbonated drinks - should not be drank because the little bubbles can expand in your little pouch and cause it to prematurely stretch. I have probably had 2 or 3 12 oz. beverages post surgery. I had no discomfort but that doesn't mean I didn't stretch my pouch. I doubt a soda a month will cause so much damage, but I don't think it is good to do this often. Drinking with meals - should not be done because this will cause your solid food to wash right through your band. Defeating the purpose of the band entirely. If you are doing this, try not to. I don't usually drink with my meals, but I have to be honest - I have done this more than once and I do notice I get hungier much faster than when I don't.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

No way! I say so-and-so because I'm incognito! But, I still like to post! Guess what?
  7. I just wanted to make an announcement that I created a new social group called the Clothing X.Change. If you have clothes that you have shrunk out of and would like to share it with others here, you can post what you have and then transact via PM to each other. Also, some are finding it helpful to post needs! Here is a link, since it's pretty hidden: Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum - The Clothing X-Change!

    Trying to figure this out

Peek, I would not agree with you on the liquid diet. If you are hungry now between meals, that is going to make it much worse. The liquid will just go right through your band. You need solids to stay in your pouch for longer periods and thus will keep you from feeling hungry so fast. You may need another fill, or maybe you just need to bump up a few more calories during the day. You can add in a few tiny Snacks (100 calories or less) to kill that hunger and it will bring up your caloric intake. Your body needs to know you are not starving it. Good luck!

    Bad food weekend

Thank you Crystal for reminding me of this! I normally do so good, but then that ugly TOM monster comes around the bend and I just have to taste this or nibble on that. I also confessed this to my nutritionist and she looked at me like I was crazy. She said there is not harm in it once in awhile. Just get that craving out and move on. As long as I am still losing and doing my exercising regardless of this, I'm doing a good job. Still though, the guilt does have its way with me - but it doesn't last long.

    Sharing celebration

Ha! I guess I'm late to the party. Well, Happy Belated Birthday anyway! Hope it was as great as it sounded. Your new baby is cute as ever! He will keep you moving, moving, moving... that's for sure!

Putting a face to a name

Lynn! What a beautiful smile you have! You know, you should take some pics really often. I didn't want to at first either, but as the weight and the months drop by I am seeing a difference every time with every new set. I am glad I chose to do this. It is very motivating to the self. Don't wait too long. I usually take a set about every 10 lbs. although I failed to take some at 249. I know there is a big difference in myself in just that short time and I will never get back there again. It was a moment in time I will forever have missed... don't let that be you!

ezma, those are great suggestions and some I already do myself. That being said, I have been really bad since Friday. I have been eating so much fast food and not taking into account portion sizes. It's almost like I don't even have a band on right now! I already made the appointment for the next available fill and that will be on June 13th. That is still 3 weeks away so I need to get back into good habits. Well, it doesn't help that it TOM, so I'm just hoping that is the only reason for my bad behaviors. I think it has to be a little bit of both, since I have been getting hungry alot and craving salt in mounds. Oh well, tomorrow is another day!

    Eating too often

Great idea on the treadmill 80's chick. I wouldn't be losing as quick without it. Well, as I said before - I just needed to factor back in my mini Snacks throughout. Since then and in only a week's time I went from 247.5 to 240. Pretty neat!

Why Do People Have to be So Mean...

That's right! I mean, what is she going to say in retort -- "She's being too nice..." Um, yeah. That's pretty much how I've been handling my situation and let me tell you, it works. I can see the anger, but don't let it fester to you! You can't make her problems your own.
  24. LilMissDiva Irene

Why Do People Have to be So Mean...

Well, there it is right there! Everyone has a reason on why they what they do. She is miserable and it makes her feel better to make you miserable. I'll tell you what, and I'll take my own advice at the same time... let's just be sweet as pie no matter what flavor they throw at us! Let's not let it show one iota that they get to us. We'll need to vent somewhere from time to time - but hey - never let 'em see you sweat, kwim? ... or Kill 'Em With Kindness. When she asks why you're being so nice, say "Oh, I'm just being a good Christian!" I would also report her about the comments about "should you be eating that". That is clearly durogatory and rightly should be reported to the proper authorities.

Why Do People Have to be So Mean...

Leslie, that is such a tough one. If I weren't in almost the same situation and wondering what to do myself, I would give you some advice. However, I need to take care of my own yard before critiquing my neighbors. Good luck with that, we all need it sometimes.
