Victorious Valentine Exercise Challenge?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Aw, guys and gals - I'm far behind the game. I've only done 80 minutes so far. I'm supposed to be at 240 at this point. My quitting my last pill to control my high blood pressure was a disaster. I got really sick with bad migraines and my blood pressure spiked pretty high. I had to get back on, but what can I do? I'm starting to feel better just since last night. My blood pressure is getting back in check too. Who knows, I might have to take a little something for the rest of my life. It's still better than three a day. The good thing is I lost all that Water weight and then an additional pound to boot! Anyway, hope all your weekends were better than mine! -
Debbi, speaking of sneaking food as a child, I would do this so bad, I would sneak food I didn't even want to eat. I remember being about maybe 4 or 5 and stealing a whole onion from the refrigerator. I have no idea why I did that, but I took it and laid on my bed with it. I stared at it, and my eyes began to water really bad and sting. I had no idea being that young that onions did that to you. I don't remember what happened after that, but how weird is that?

Well then you are doing excellent! Keep up the great work, and you'll probably more than make that requirement. It's so worth it!

I Did It - I Did It - I Did It

Whoa! I wish I lost 90 since surgery! It's more like 43 (with a little Water retention gain due to no more water pills) since surgery - the rest was pre-surgery. That took me two years to lose... which is why I chose the band. But nevermind that, this is your thread! Woo hoo!!! Size 8, that is so fantastic, what a great feeling that must be. You're such an inspiration for me, rock on sister! Your secrets work, so I'll take 'em and run, if you don't mind! -
Hello out there!
LilMissDiva Irene replied to lotzasunshine's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome lotzasunshine! This really is a great place to get together and share, I agree. I was so glad to find a spot where I can get together with others who are just like me in the fact they understand where I'm coming from. -

Summer/Independence Day Weightloss Challenge
LilMissDiva Irene replied to luvinke's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh, me too! I loved it so much I was taking it for two months more than I was told to. I was honestly supposed to stop taking it after surgery because my surgeon doesn't like his patients taking them at all. He worries about our water intake. I used to take two a day. I then cut it to one, and did deal with a little bit of water retention, but with me finally cutting out this last one, I gained nine pounds in about four days. :w00t: Thankfully the worst is over because I lost three of those pounds overnight. -
I don't see why you couldn't go, but just go for as long as you can. I'm sure your family would understand if you had to cut it short, that is if they know of your surgery. If they don't you can blame it on your cold. :w00t:

Victorious Valentine Exercise Challenge?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's no thing really, but I've got to be honest... I've started exercising years ago. Even as big as I was, I could pull off an hour a day (I'm talking around 300-280 lbs.) It wasn't easy as first. I literally had to start with maybe 10-15 minutes a day for probably 3 days a week. I was about 330 lbs. at that time, but I lost the weight pretty quick to get under 300 and it was right around that point that I could do so much more. I break up the minutes too, like, I'll walk for 30 minutes at 9 am and then again at 2:30 pm. Then at home I'll do 30-45 minutes on either my treadmill or my exercise bike. Then I can pull off about 15-30 minutes of different types of weight training or calisthenics (toning). Never doing the same muscles two days in a row. I can go on and on because I just love it! It relieves so much stress and makes you feel so da*n good! I know you will get there too, I completely believe that. Just don't give up and when you begin to notice certain things like, your weight loss slowing down and your not getting your heart rate up and it feels too easy, it's time to bump it up. You're doing amazing by the way! -
The runs! Ack! Yes, very normal. I never could figure out why that was, but I was under the impression it was the fact we weren't allowed anything but liquids. Liquids in... liquids out! :w00t::tt2:

Oh, gee! I feel for you having to sneeze and cough during the sore period. I had to cough some too, so I know what you mean. Welcome to Twoderville, and best yet -- WELCOME TO BANDLAND!! Enjoy your stay, but we won't want to stay in Twoderville too long. It's more like an expressway to ONE-DERLAND!!

Only 1lb lost in first week
LilMissDiva Irene replied to trypgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
During these stages I would drink the Protein slammers you can find in GNC. They look like little vials and they have about 43g of protein, but they do have about 200 calories. They're not the greatest tasting, but you can guzzle it down quick and eat a mint or something after to get rid of the taste. -
Latricee, that sounds great! I believe you can do it, just stick to a good, healthy eating plan and incorporate some exercising in there - even if it is just 15-20 minutes. 30 would be better, for about 3-4 days per week. Your weight will be right in line with what they expect; who knows? Maybe even better! Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Why haven't I replied to this yet? Shame on me! Shiny you're looking great! Where'd your tummy go? Who knows, but at least you'll never find it again!

Victorious Valentine Exercise Challenge?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I challenge myself to do 720 minutes of exercise from Saturday May 31st through Thursday June 5th! Only because I've been slacking and I need to re-motivate myself to get back to the normal 540 per week. -
Congrats on your scale Victory! May we all who aspire this do so!!

Summer/Independence Day Weightloss Challenge
LilMissDiva Irene replied to luvinke's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, LJM we are going to need a new one already in about four weeks so it's not that far off when we will need a new one started. Everyone's welcome of course! :w00t: As for me, I won't be posting any updates for awhile. I'm dealing with Water issues since I have finally given up my LAST high blood pressure pill. Sad for the scale, but happy for so many more reasons! -
 Ok, I feel like I am going to just hurl - I'm telling you! I was supposed to give up my HCTZ pills a few months back. For those of you not privvy to these little pills, they make you go pee alot and they keep your Water way down. It's meant to control hypertension. They also can play mad havoc on your scales! So, I stopped taking them about four days ago. In those days I went from 240 all the way up to 249!!!!!!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::biggrin::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:... and every other crazy little face guy you can think of! This was the exact reason why I was taking my time doing this. It sure didn't help that this past week was TOM to boot. I just had to do it though, my body does not need them anymore... but hell, I almost feel like I'm addicted to them because they keep my scale in check. I even tried to ween myself from them slowly, but now that I'm finally rid of them my body is PISSED! Oh well, what the hell. What can I do but wait it out? I am also trying to down so much water Niagara Falls would be envious. That might be another reason I've gained about 2.5 lbs. per day for the last few days. Good thing is, I've finally started going potty on my own this morning. I must have hit the ladies' room about 5 times already. Ah, well - I just had to vent to someone! Now I just have to get over it.

question about bread/hamburgers
LilMissDiva Irene replied to RAS_STI's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can do burgers. I can't do those huge buns though. They get stuck, so I take off the bun, and lo and behold it seems it's the meat I really enjoy anyway! -
Milk is good for you if it does not cause you discomfort due to lactose intollerance. If you doctor doesn't want you to drink it, then by all means, but believe me, I would have questioned his motives. Then if I disagreed, we would just have to debate on the issue. Doing it "low-carb" just would not satisfy my need to not drink milk.

It's true popcorn has little nutritional value, is packed with lots of things people trying to lose weight shouldn't eat, is not filling, etc. but that isn't the reason people are eating it. They're eating it because they are satisfying a craving, and in my opinion there is nothing wrong with that. I see nothing wrong with it at all. The only reason a banded person shouldn't enjoy the popcorn from time to time or in limited quantity is if it DOES cause them physical problems, like the sliming, PBing or swollen esophagus. If you can satisfy a craving by doing it sensibly, then by all means. I used to eat popcorn nearly every night, and I've had it a few times since surgery. Sometimes it's no problem and the next time I'll feel sick. Go figure...

Hi Janice, and welcome! The more the merrier, I always like to say.
-
I'm glad you decided against that! I'm not totally against liquids - I do have one first thing in the morning to kick start my metabolism and I have no time to eat as well as calming my hunger pangs at 5:30 am. I'm even a little tight then so it doesn't bother me too much but during the rest of the day I need solids to sustain me. I need a fill too, and bad. A serving size tuna packet with two slices of bread and a slice of cheese with crackers even didn't fill me up. I had to throw in a handful of store bought frozen popcorn chicken to top me off. June 13th can't get here soon enough!
