    Countdown to your Bandiversary!

Lori - great post! I think you touched on what alot of us are going through. The lap band is an awesome tool, but that is all it is... a tool. Yeah, some of are sick of hearing that - but you truly never can understand the value of that statement unless you are going through it. Anyway, I am back on track and back into the 240's (again)... whew! Keep up the great work VV's. WE CAN DO THIS!! Let this be the year where we ALL reach our goals. xoxo

  3. Hi healthy! Thanks for the friendship add... I have BCBS, so I'm not sure if I can help you with your question. Let me know if I can. Keep me posted on your progress!! Best Wishes. The Lap-Band is a great choice, but the work comes from within and you seem strong so I know you can do it! :)

  4. Why thank you! :D I still have a bit over 100 Lbs. to lose but I fully intend to finisht that off and most of all through August. It's really not easy, epecially after you've had your band for a while. But after you get through that, you pick yourself back up and end the rollercoaster ride. Best wishes!! You can also reach me through Private Messages or through Yahoo Instant Messenger. Keep me posted!

I hate it when people post just to post.....

Yes holes in anything - not good. Holes in rooves (as in yours), holes in pants (especially in frighteniong places), holes in the walls (cockroaches), holes in cheese (I want a whole piece thank you!), donut holes... well okay donut hole at least taste good.

Should Their be Laws/Requirments for Becomming Parents?

True meatball... why not? I have always been one to say if it makes you happy then by all means. As long as you are not infringing on or hurting someone else. Why do I care if a man I don't even know marries another man? Why do I care if a woman wants to have three husbands (and all husbands are aware of and agreeable to this)? Frankly I really don't care.
  10. Fantastic! We need more thought provoking thread starters such as yourself.

I'm even afraid to answer that question. It's always the good ones... know what I mean? I'll pray for our new President every chance I get.

Should Their be Laws/Requirments for Becomming Parents?

Very interesting.. one I've heard before. Me? I'm more along the lines of no. Then again, the same should be true for people who abuse and neglect animals too. Should we have laws that forbid anyone to adopt animals who "might" abuse or neglect them? What do we base the criteria on? How would we know if one would be a terrible parent or not? The only thing that prevents me from saying a maybe is that, I am against anything pre-emptive. I'll give you an example. My Mom adopted four children not her own, and they were severely neglected, abused prior, etc. And even living in our home growing up the circumstances were not perfect or ideal. They all acted out growing up, seemed to be headed in the wrong direction. Three out of the four children she raised are now parents themselves and three of the four are raising those children to the best of their ability. They love their children with all their hearts. Two I would even go so far as to say they are perfect parents. Now, should they have been denied the right to bear children based on their history growing up? I say no. However, one of the three has two children, on being a special needs. She has made some questionable judgments with them, however she still has them and they do love their children. Perhaps a trial session? Let them have one child and see how they do? Nah. So when do we finally say enough is enough with the Government meddling in our everyday lives and decisions? Also, I hardly would make the comparison between people having children and someone having the right to do with their bodies as they wish. Are we still not a free society? True we are a Nation of Laws, not men - but we were born on the idea of being Free to Choose for ourselves. Tada! There is my thoughtful post for the year.

    Yoo-Hoo???? Anyone there??

Michelle, that is a fabulous idea... or we can revisit our own thread... This one in particular I think. It was our master thread way back in the day. Remember how we all felt so gung-ho and ready to go?? I do - but how do I get that back? Like a child anticipating Christmas morning, so full of hope and wonder. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f113/calling-all-february-bandsters-46470/

    Yoo-Hoo???? Anyone there??

OK here is my New Year's Resolution. I will reach goal this year and most definitely by August. How will I attain a 100 Lb. loss in 9 Months? Well this is how: I will not eat any Doritos, Ice Cream or Pastries until I hit that 145. Period! I won't, I won't, I WON'T!!!!!! :wink2: :cool2: OK so there it is. I can lose weight really fast, especially with my workout routine. I just have to leave those nasty slider foods alone!

Beth, thank you so much for explaining that to me. I'd heard of the procedure but I guess never heard the clinical name for it. Best wishes on that, however you decide to have it fixed for you. No, I never had to have the esophageal motility study, only underwent the barium test. Very interesting indeed! My Doctor does both Bands and Bypass, and he only performed the Upper GI on his Bypass patients. Us banders got away nicely!

    Just getting started in Washington

Hi Cheryl! From the time I mentioned to PCP that I was interested in the Lap Band to the actual surgery date, it was just over a year's time. I had to go through six months of the dietician appointments, then many more with my surgeon and pre-ops. It was all worth it... and will continue to be as long as I stay on the plan. It's no easy quick fix, but if you are ready to change you life, the Lap Band will help you! BEST WISHES!!

New to Forum - Happy New Year

Hey there Sarah! Welcome to LBT!! Congrats on your successful completion soon on your six month dietician appointments. I had to do the same thing, and one thing you will realize is that everything you learned in them is very valuable. I don't regret it at all going to them, and am rather thankful I did. You will be banded right around my first Bandiversary! That's so great - GOOD LUCK!

    Hello everyone

jeane, this is exactly the place to do just that. Everyone here is amazing and helpful and you will find so much information here. I found out things here that my doctors office didn't even mention! Best Wishes and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

    hello all

Hiyaaaa re, nice to meet you! Well, I am a regular and I'm here to tell you - it's as fantastic as it seems! I have not been banded in Detroit, more in California - but all this Sunshine did not make my band work any better... LOL - it's me doing my workouts and eating the "right" foods that does it. I've been struggling lately, but I know what I need to do to get back on track. The Holidays are over now (TG) so no more chocolates, and no more EXCUSES! Hope to see you around! Toodles.

Welcome to LBT yorkie! Nice to have you! Everyone here is awesome, and the information is great! It helped me so much with my journey from pre-banding until this day. I'm curious though, what is a "nissen fundoplication proceedure"? Is that a bariatric surgery? I've never heard of that.

Question for all you Banders or Non Banders :)

Aud, I did come accross the Lap-Band diet prior to banding. I followed it for one week and gave up. It is extremely difficult for I was used to eating so much more. I was crazy hungry and couldn't hang on. The Band helps so much with fullness and hunger. Anyway, I'm not saying you can't do it, because I did - but I didn't finish it. You might have more will power to do it. Try it and see how it turns out, but in the mean time, I do not suggest cancelling anything you have going on in the interim. Most docs prefer you lose weight prior anyway to shrink your liver. GOOD LUCK!
