  1. Last night we had baked salmon, mixed veggies (bok choi, zucchini, squash and chinese cabbage) and some whole grain brown rice. Yes, I'd have to say this is my favorite. My tastes truly have changed a lot. I do crave bad things but I end up feeling sick when I eat them. Yes, I eat bad stuff... I'm not perfect. But, I really do love and crave good healthy and nutritious food now more than ever.

I'm glad everything is going well for you! Do I remember you from LBT? If so, how are you doing?

CHECKING IN! Wow... love the new look and website. :)

CgJ, that's a really great idea to continue getting your panels checked yearly. My PCP does that for me (for anyone out there that cannot see his/her bariatric surgeon) and each time they kept getting lower and lower. It's getting better though. A lot of the symptoms I'd been having are going away thank goodness. Od, thank you I am very glad to be here and posting again. It's a lot easier to get the whole story out in one whop than in bits and pieces! Ha!

Dear Veterans, has your hunger returned?

True! Fitting in to all those tiny cute clothes is a huge motivator to stay there. Then a few stack on and clothes get tight... bad feelings creep back in. It's so easy to say... "don't do that" but the reality is it CAN happen to anyone. And yes, if it doesn't your a darn lucky person. Good for them though! I'd rather not have to deal with these issues, but alas such is not my case. Thank you iegal, I am really grateful to myself to be back. Admitting I am one who needs help is the first step in any addiction therapy group! God Bless! I didn't know you have GB surgery. Wishing you a get well fast. I did get down to a zero, mostly 2s and 4s though. I truly loved being small. Though I was that small I was still curvy and for me I felt I looked good. It all is a matter of personal perception. I wasn't doing that for anyone but me! My health and darnit my happiness. Its okay to want to be thin and attractive. There's not a dang thing wrong with it. As an extremely obese person ( I used to wear size 28 and 4X!! ) I know how it feels to be miserable and not like how I looked or felt physically. I never in my dreams imagined I'd get that small. I thought it was impossible because I was too "big boned" or my loose skin would prevent it. But I was wrong. I agree being smaller was easier to maintain. I stayed in my tiny sizes for almost 2.5 years. I went up so fast my head spinned. It's all good though since I've made the extra effort to get back down again.

Dear Veterans, has your hunger returned?

Thats really helpful info, thanks. I've asked others and have gotten similar response. If the food is tasty and filling then it is definitely worth the cost.

Dear Veterans, has your hunger returned?

Well said brittu, I agree the hunger shouldnt have so much to do with gain. I went through a bitter mental battle with myself when I couldn't workout the way I was accustomed to anymore. I froze up and didnt do what I COULD! I have turned a corner now and learning how to retrain my body for alternate workouts. How do you like JC? Its a bit expensive but if its worth it then I might want to go for it.
  8. My thoughts are this: Nothing will tell more than one person or both having WLS whether or not the relationship started with the best intentions or otherwise. The truth will come out because having WLS and being SUCCESSFUL forces us to live our lives respecting the truth. Otherwise you are continuing to live in denial. Everything has to flow right or it will hinder our progress both mentally which flows into physically. My relationship with my husband has survived and along our path I realized that I loved him unconditionally and he does the same. We needed to find out the hard way though. We are going on 19 years now. Good luck! And Congrats on the many years! That's a rare find these days.

    my 600 pound life-pennys story

I think this is the most important episode for anyone looking into having WLS or for anyone who has already had it. WLS is NOT a magic solution. I've noticed many of the showcases on this show start out thinking that, then they get smacked upside the head with reality. Some face the demons and straighten it out - while others, like last night's Penny contain their pacifiers. Living with a co-dependent person such as herself and her husband is a detriment to truly beating any addiction. Whether it be drugs, alcohol or in this case food. IMHO, anyone who has become obese has some element of food addiction. How can they not? Until everyone in that position embraces this fact, they will always fall off the wagon (including myself). She was playing his love for her against him, and he fell for it hook, line and sinker. He likes the life they're living, based on some of his commentary on the show. He expressed that he hoped she didn't expect all of them to eat on a diet. He is complete denial too. I was in awe at how much! I couldn't believe the excuses coming out of both of their mouths. They truly do live in a "fantasy world". Someone on my FB mentioned that she revised to RnY. If that's true then she's getting a second chance and I pray she gets it right this time. However, it's not likely because she thinks all of her troubles will be over by fixing her stomach. It's really our brains we need to work on simultaneously.

Dear Veterans, has your hunger returned?

Oh my goodness! I just lost my entire post. I hate that. What I was saying is that my solid meals only last between 2-3 hours when I would prefer they lasted 4-5 hours in between. Brittu, you're so lucky! I wish my hunger had never come back. Right now I can comfortably eat 2-4 oz of Protein depending on the density, a small serving of veggies and small serving of carbs. I can never drink with my meals, it actually makes me feel sick and bloated. It's so tough for me because I cannot burn off extra calories via workouts like I once could. I'm in a constant state of flux because in order for me to lose I have to eat less and that is so difficult when I'm hungry all the time. HC, I'm very glad to be back in the fold. I need the support that is offered here! You all are the best on the Planet when it comes to that. Taking a break did not serve me well. I thought it would but much to the contrary. I know I'll be fine and in time I'll be back in those ZERO's!! Hallelujah! I actually forgot about that. That was the best feeling. I never EVER imagined I'd fit in that size. See? I need this place! Also, I seen a thread around here for those struggling with 5:2 and to try the 8 hour diet. It sound way more doable to me. 500 calories is just... way too little. At least for me.

    does it get better?

It gets better. ...and better... AND BETTER!! Hang in there. I had the same issues you are having right now post op, and I came out just fine. I don't regret a minute of the misery because my life right now is wonderful. Take care and get well soon. WELCOME TO THE LOSERS BENCH!

    A mixed blessing!

How frustrating! I guess like you mentioned it turned out to be a good thing though. Any idea on when they should re-schedule you?

    My Journey

Hi Tn Man, welcome! It is very difficult in the first few months and especially the first few weeks post op. You would find your tastebuds change and everything makes you feel nauseated. This is very common. Have you tried the Protein Water? Or even the protein shots? Now granted these aren't the best quality but something is definitely better than nothing. You will likely have to overcome the disgust you feel while putting food in your mouth because you have to eat to survive. Good luck! And sip water all day!

Hi Allegra, welcome to Bariatric Pal! Thank you for sharing your story with us. So many of us will feel sympathy and empathy for what you've gone through. A lot of us have been abused in one way or another. Overcoming those obstacles in one reason why we are even here right now. God Bless! Take care and if you ever need anything I'm here.

    I'm in a stall and I don't like it!

I was expecting to see a sad story until I read you've only been waiting since the beginning of January. Take pictures, measure yourself... find other ways to measure your success. The scale isn't always going to move when you want it to. Lose the word "only" from your vocabulary. It will make your journey a whole lot more happy.

2014 - Where have all the "ole-timers" gone?

Oh yeah I remember you clearly! It is nice to find out my bootcamp is still being used. I still do it sometimes. I did it a few months back and avoided sugar all together for 5 straight weeks. It was a very proud moment! How have you been??
