All that depends on your insurance. Mine is Blue Shield and I had to do many tests and 6 months supervised dietician appointments. It actually took me over a year from the time I inquired with my PCP to my surgery date. Do not let that discourage you though. The dietician courses have proven extremely helpful. You need more than just the lap-band to make this work. You need knowledge of healthy foods and how to exercise properly. It’s all in the same game. Best wishes and welcome!

Helloooooo!! Hey gals, kinda a little drive-by post here.. I know it's been a few days but I just kinda needed some time AFK....KWIM? :tongue: Anyway I just needed a little breather but I'm slowly making my way back into the thread here. Glad everyone had a good Thanksgiving!! I did, it was really nice. Ah, maybe a little too nice. I gained 5 Lbs!! :eek: Well I've been taking Jillian Michaels detox pills and they are doing okay. However all the sweet carbs I've been eating has left my belly bloated. Ugh. I really need to watch myself because I can gain 5 Lbs overnight but it takes me at least a week to let it go! Not fair. :wub: I'm going to bump up my walking so I think that might help some. Mon - 1 mile.. Tue - 2 miles.. Wed - 3 miles and Thurs - 4 miles. That's 10 miles per week! I hope that helps some! Ok, with the carbs though. Why can't I just leave them alone??? Why oh WHY!!!!???? I'm so sad. Anyway, I hope everyone else does better than me with getting back on track! :smile:

My Number 1 is definitely having a really good support system. That being my husband, my family, LapBandTalk, a very supportive Surgeon and his staff and friends. Without this I would never succeed. I’m only halfway there and all these people keep me focused on the right things. Number 2 is my own willpower. This will never work if you aren’t planning to put in to it 110%. You have to still do all the right things. Eating right, making sure you are properly restricted, getting your workout routines in, keeping a positive outlook and most importantly staying on track during those plateau periods. Number 3 is being supportive of others. This really helps to keep me in perspective. How can I support someone else when I’m not even doing the right things? Best wishes to you. Remember all the reasons you chose to try surgery to help you lose weight. Also remember too that all it is IS help. It’s not going to do it all for you. As long as your working your band, your band will WORK FOR YOU! J

Hey hey! Good morning! My Thanksgiving was pretty much the same as everyone else… too much eating which meant the scale is not my friend right now. I gained 5 pounds!! Ugh! But I’ve lost 2 so far which is great. I also have a Dr. Appt this Friday for a small fill. I’m hoping to get this weight off before seeing him. I will have lost a few pounds as well and I’m sure he’ll be really happy for me. Hey Jul, I understand the losing a family member on a Holiday. I lost my most favorite Auntie on Easter many years ago. It just has never been the same. In fact it’s been so long now that Easter is just another day to me. I never celebrated it again, and I’m Christian. I just focus on the true meaning of the Holiday rather than all the Hallmark extras. Okay everyone; hope everyone has a successful week! Christmas is just around the corner and that means more eating… ack! I’m glad I’m getting a fill…

Hello! Sorry it took so long to get back here but I was just enjoying a good long break. J I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!! Hello kuurt, sorry to hear of your band troubles. I had acid reflux for awhile due to being too tight. It ended up working itself out. As a matter of fact, I didn’t lose any weight during that time either. I think all of us bandsters will have our ups and downs at some point. Hang in there! Maybe take up some workouts and track what you’re eating for awhile. You may find something that hasn’t popped out at you before. All the best!
