Anyone interested in a Christmas challenge?

Wow welcome to all the new people who have decided to join in! When I was first banded I did join in the weight loss challenges and I did find them very motivating. I'm so glad to be back and getting my wojo back. I feel so excited and so ready to knock this outta the ballpark. Though I did not post a loss last week, I am super confident that I can bump myself back up into losing a few pounds this week. I am going to meet and even exceed my Christmas goal this year!!

gg, I do hope you are beginning to feel better. :-( I really hate being sick myself, especially when it interferes with my workout routines. I love to workout but even then it's really easy to just start saying "meh, I'll start again tomorrow". I know how hard you have been working on your couch to 5k! Welcome Mary! Wow it really sounds like you're getting your stuff together! Good for you! Your machine workouts sounds much like how I've been doing mine. I've not made myself an actual workout regimen. I kinda did but I also tell myself as long as I'm breaking a sweat doing something several times per day then I'm doing good! The last few days I've been getting up really early in the morning. Right after my good ole cup o'coffee I get in my workout room. I've been alternating between my elliptical, treadmill and spinner. I do a 30 minute routine pre-set by the machine. I do stay in the target zones or above so I know I'm burning well. Another reason I know is because I come off sweating and my pulse much elevated!! It feels great though and my mood has been improving alot every day. I feel more and more every day that I really can do this and I really want to succeed. My eating habits, though still not perfect have been improving right along with my workouts. Amazing isn't it??? Hopefully on Friday my "official weigh day" I'll have posted a loss! Today I did 30 on my elliptical, and in one hour I'll do my outside mile walk. Then this evening I'll do 30 on my treadmill and 30 on my Wii fit game. Hang in there everybody!! You can do it!!

    Lost all motivation

Heather. Stop now! Ok, not trying to be super harsh with you - but my dear you are only 2 months out from surgery. You have to get your think tank back on straight or this will NEVER happen. I know first hand, I'm way over 2 years out from surgery and I"m still trying to lose weight. I'm doing much better right now than I have since post-surgery. How did I get my mojo back? Well, I'll tell you. I TOOK IT BACK! I went through some traumatic times about 4 months out. I won't go into detail because all it will do is serve me with an excuse to do what I want. That being eating what I want, when I want - not doing my workouts and treating my temple in a most unnatural and unhealthy fashion. Also, let yourself go too. Do not think of this journey as all black and white. You have to be able to eat some of the things you enjoy. There is a limit though and the limit is very small. Also, everyone has triggers. Try to avoid those at all costs. If its something similar you enjoy, can tolerate a small portion and it won't push you off the deep end, go for it. Other than that, stick with posting here at this website. There are so many here who will listen to you and ride the waves right along with you - especially myself. I've been here for almost 3 years and have made many friends. I count on my friends to pat me on my back when I'm doing well, but I also want them to kick my hiney when I'm not. All the best!

Going to OA for the first time...18 yr old

tastey, I can't speak for knowing what to expect because I've never been to one. I just want to tell you what you are doing is awesome and very brave. I keep saying I'm going to go because I know I have a bad addiction to food. I need to go - but haven't yet. Please let us know how it goes.

    Nsaids ?

I do use Aleve on a regular basis. I have arthritis in my knees. I also take them in pill form (the generic version Naproxen). I only use the OTC but I do make sure I drink plenty of fluids with it so it doesn't settle in my pouch. I have not been warned not to take them by my surgeon - only right after surgery which was a few years ago. I only suggest talking it over with your surgeon before taking any to be sure what they suggest, but I also think more take NSAIDS (whoever needs it) than don't with Lap-Band.

Hey gg, you are doing really good. I'm super happy for you - as long as you're doing it then you get an A in my book! I can't wait until I get my knees fixed up and lose more so I can start running again. My knees cannot withstand the weight right now. I'm also afraid to mess them up again so I'll wait for now until I lose again. I really want to wait until I'm in the 100's to start running again. I can walk tho, so that's second best! I did get up early in the a.m. to get my workout in. I did 25 minutes on my elliptical machine. Not exactly what I put on my schedule, but hey I did something. Besides, of all the workouts I do it burns the most calories, so I can't get mad at myself too much. I played around too much during the holiday weekend so I have not lost any. :-( That stinks to all that's good, but hey it's a new day like I always say. Actually my eating was really good yesterday. I had Slim Fast for Breakfast Lean Cuisine for lunch Taco Soup and a handful of whole grain chips for dinner Snacks, banana, lite yogurt and popcorn at night. The popcorn was not lite so that was not good - but other than that I did well. Hey what if we started posting a lighter version of what we're eating too. I think that will help me out some. I really can't do too much food journaling. I get really burnt out on it if it asks too much - but if its generalized I know I'll do it. What you say? I'd also like to see more people posting too. Challenge yourself. Are you in it to win it? Or are you thinking the band is gonna work itself? Just curious.

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Awesome and congratulations!! That's awesome for one week! I'm still holding out on the same this week, but it only my own fault. I kinda enjoyed the 4th too much... lol - but as of early this morning I'm back at it doing what I'm supposed to. Sometimes when you take too much time off getting back into it isn't easy. But, again that's just an excuse. I've got to leave those behind if I'm going to go down down down again!
  9. Well hello there friend! How have you been? :) It's so tough you know, even with our bands. I have so much to think about where I might get a revision - but it will be a good outcome no matter what I do.

Do you still have my Yahoo messenger? Look me up! avilabutterfly73 :)

Hi Georgia, thanks for checking in! My knees will come along soon, hopefully sooner rather than later for sure. Your plan, as long as it works for you and keeps you from sizzling out is fair. I think I get too over zealous and end up just defuncting out... which is NOT good! Hang in there, I know you can do it. I have been sticking to my routine! 30 in the morning is the big thing for me right now (unless its a morning where I can sleep in and then I do 30 at night). If I don't stick to it religiously thats ok. I'm not just going to give up. The main thing is I just have to do something, or anything! Best of all that's good to everyone! Even if you're just quietly reading along, I hope this helps to get you the motivation necessary to lose weight and keep it off for good.

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

I'm sure that one pound is just a fluke. That's the trouble with those of us who torture ourselves with daily weigh-ins. Though I know one thing, when I don't weigh daily - it goes up, then up and up and up...
  12. Hey Mr. LBT.com - would you mind setting up the 2011 in the calendar section? Thanx!

Anyone interested in a Christmas challenge?

I'm definitely in. I can't see the spreadsheet at work because apparently my work blocks it, so I will add myself later. I like longer challenges. I plan to lose 10 Lbs per month until I reach my goal. So by Christmas I should have lost 57 Lbs. I know I can do it, I lose really good when I put my heart and mind into it. Good luck to all.

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Awesome! Let's do this! I don't regret throwing out all my biggie clothes either to be honest. I even refused to buy anything super expensive in the larger sizes too. I just bought me a few pairs of duds and told myself I'm not gonna dress cute again until I look cute again... lol. Ok not nice to say to myself but I'm just being real, ya know? Definitely lets always check in. I'm going to make sure I'm posting again. In fact I (for the last few months) have been making monthly workout chat threads. It's in the fitness and exercise area. You are welcome to chime in if you like! A'la I'm down almost 3 Lbs already. Only 97 to go!! :-D

    Weight Watchers Online: Support Thread

Hey everyone! It's so great to see this thread is still alive and kicking. May I commend everyone for sticking to WW plan. It is a good one, however it was not one that I was able to move forward with. I simply do not have the time to keep up with writing everything down all day. I need something much more practical and maybe with a bit more spontaneity. WW always left me frustrated because I had to look everything up and remember every little detail. Frustrated is not what I need because I easily fall off the wagon, so I just couldn't do it. I am getting back to reality. I need a plan where I can keep the rules in my head and not stress so much on my "fun time" as in once a week I get to have a Breakfast of my choice, etc. I'm not knocking WW either! I think its a really great plan, and it will work if you're the type that finds that sort of plan ideal. I wish it would work for me. I am coming back to my healthy habit plans a little at a time. Sometimes we do fall far off the beaten path and for me, its better I take baby steps back. I do NOT want to crash again like I did before. I want to ease back into the correct way of thinking and make it my own again. I hope I'm making sense! Best of luck to all you ladies. Stick with it, it sounds like it's a good plan for all of you. I'm super proud to see this thread lives on. :tt1:

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Melissa, great work already!! I admire your work ethic, I totally believe you can do it - with or without the band. I believe that is true for everyone on this entire website. True enough the band helps, but does it make it easier? I say "no" emphatically. No because IMHO it actually makes it so much more difficult. You are constantly in pain, foods that are meant to enjoy once in awhile, you are completely restricted from. So, when that doctor loosens the noose - guess what? Yeah, you got it, you kinda go berserk with it. That's pretty much what I've been doing the last 6 months since my major unfill. Well my body is expanding, as well it should. I'm back up into size 22's again - and 1x tops. Ok, well maybe not as bad as 30's and 3x, true enough - but guess what? If I have a blasee attitude I'll be there again before I know it. Thank you Melissa for posting this!! I as of this morning made a pact with myself. GET RIGHT GIRL!!! I've gone through so much to lose the weight and I'm failing not anyone but myself. So like I said, GET RIGHT!! I woke up at quarter after 3 am this morning to do my workout before work. Yes I did, and guess what? I feel awesome! How soon we forget the healthy lifestyle makes you feel so blasted great. In the same manner as you I'm just going to do it. I'm going to keep my band as tight as it is right now and just do the right things. Eat healthy most of the time and workout as anyone should. The weight WILL without fail come off as long as I'm doing this. I don't need no tight band to make this happen. I'M DOING THE WORK -- NOT THE BAND! Now I will use my tool perhaps down the line when my portions need to be reduced by alot, but until then... It's me and my will power from here. Best of luck to all! I would really love to have everyone check in so we can see how we are faring. This weight thing is gonna be a challenge for the rest of our lives. I know that's true. I came within 50 Lbs of my goal. Now I'm back to needing to lose 100... yeah, yeah, sad - wah wah - but crying isn't gonna get me back. Being STONG and willing IS.
  17. Hi!! Well I don't think there are much difference between the two... thats just what the Admin put in my line and I left it. :)

I miss you all too. I go in there still from time to time but end up leaving just as fast as I got there. I really to be honest dont have alot of good to say. Like, um, pretty much my band never helped me. Turns out I have to help myself... lol. That's WAY negative and don't want to go there... because there are so many people the band DOES work for.

    See you around!!!

Home Thread...for the thread homeless :)

    Good news!!!
  19. Hey everyone! Ok so I fell off the wagon last month... well this month won't be any better. I've moved and still in process, its really difficult right now. I can't let that keep me from doing the right thing tho, so this month I propose to myself to do at least 30 minutes activity per day. I just leave it up to me to choose what it will be. What will you do? Remember to check in and let us all know how you are doing!!

Welcome back bcg!! I'm glad to hear you are doing well after your surgery  Anything is good, and 30 minutes per day certainly is better than not doing any at all. Hang in there and before you know it you will be back to what you're used to! way congrats on the big pants!! LOL  Injuries stink, I'm dealing with a few myself but as long as you don't allow it to keep you down thats all that matters. You are really doing great! Fantastic! Keep up the good pace!! get I think that is everyone's biggest challenge. Keeping up with it. Myself, I really LOVE to workout - however even that doesn't keep you doing it consistently. Maybe making a workout schedule that you have to look at in writing every day might help? I know you can do it, and for the record - any activity you can do is helpful! Don't get down on yourself, that's not a good road to go down. Thin, it's never to late to commit and never to late to join. This is just a chat group where we set a goal for ourselves and keep in touch to let each other know how we're faring. You are always welcome here! Myself, the only thing I've had time for is boxing/unboxing since my move. In that time I've managed to blow out my Right knee. It really stinks because I haven't even gotten my Left knee fixed yet! I'm all banged up, but in the meantime I'm gaining again. Ack!! I can't let this happen, so now that I'm all finish getting my house I really need to concentrate on getting my body fixed. I have an appointment with my PCP to get a referral for my right knee now. I'm guessing I have 2 knee surgeries in my future. That's what happens I guess when your heavy all your adult life. I really enjoyed walking and jogging, and jogging did me in last year when my Left knee couldn't handle it. It's been all downhill since. I need to nip it in the bud!! Two-three weeks recovery to get my body able to perform again is so worth it! Hang in there everyone. Never give up!!

Hey gg, I'm sure you will do great on week 2! I so wish I could run again. I really need to get my knees fixed. :-( Welcome, welcome, WELCOME!! I know you all can stick with it! Just keep in touch and talk about it. Its so important to move move move! Yesterday I did 30 minutes calisthenics and today I did over an hour of housework. You know I actually get more tired and break a sweat doing the housework than i do my normal workouts? Not to mention its quite a bit more interesting! :tongue2: Lets do it guys and gals!!!

Hey Jul!! Only problem I had with my band was the reflux issues. But once my Dr. took out some fill those problems went away, but in the mean time now I'm hungry all the time and I can eat ALOT!! :-( Congrats on the Tummy Tuck, I bet you look fabulous! I hope your other band issues resolve quick. You're too nice a person to struggle much. :tongue2: Nice to hear from you!
