Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Shiny! It still sounds like you're hanging in there. Hey no ones perfect, I know that for a fact *looks in the mirror*. The awesome thing is that both you and I have made a commitment to re-marry our bands! I have been doing pretty good. Well wayyyy good with my workouts, but still struggling a tiny bit on my eating. Not a whole lot - but not back to 100% eating great yet. Maybe more like 80% and I'd like to get back to about 95%... but I'm inching toward it!! Wow it would be nice to see some others check in too. I miss everyone! VV's where are you??????

    Surgery cancelled!!!

This was probably a blessing in disguise. You might want to wonder why the Practicing Surgeon resigned... Contact your bariatric coordinator or Insurance to find out who else you may go to to get the surgery performed. All the best!

    Week one - I ate a cookie@#!@#!@#!

Wow I couldn't have said it any better myself! Thanks for this. OP, don't stress too much. We are all going to have slip ups from time to time. The best thing for you to do is chalk it up and move on. If it makes you feel better do some kind of workout to work it off. However, its really important to stick to your post-op diet that your doctor prescribes. Most doctors have one and some are more strict than others.
  5. Yes that is a major difference! Congrats you look super cute

How much do you want for that???
  13. It is true that drinking your calories is not good. Always save your calories for solid healthy meals. However, the I think the premise here was what are good alternatives for post operative clear or full liquid diet. 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day are healthy and standard, but if you can only have liquids then I say a light fruit juice should be substituted. I did it during my post op and I lost quite well, in fact that was the time I lost most of my weight. Even that won't get you 600 calories, which is far below healthy standards. Good luck everyone!

    Losing Motivation!!!!

Aha! How did I know it was routine boredom? I'm only teasin ya because I go through that all the time. Try some new machines... venture out. Take some workout classes. I bet you're back into it 110% All the best!

    uggggghhhh!

cici as long as you can ingest I say give it a few more days. Just go easy! If you find you are not drinking or eating enough after a few days then definitely yes, go in to see your surgeon and get a little bit removed. If your fill stops working 100% you can always go back for more. That is the beauty of the band!~

    Losing Motivation!!!!

Are you bored because you are doing the same things every time you go to the gym? Is there something you can do to make it more interesting? Such as listening to your favorite jams, or maybe watching your favorite TV shows? Are you doing more of the workouts you don't like and not enough of the things you do enjoy or don't mind doing? Just some questions to ask yourself. #1 workout rule, do them. The longer you go without doing it, the harder it is to pick yourself back up. Good luck, and I know you will find a way through this. It's a lifetime commitment, so think of it that way. It's something you have to do, always - a part of living, breathing, eating - and exercise.
  19. I have BCBS but HMO Access+ and I'm in NCal. Is the huge deductible because you are choosing a surgeon outside the network? Is there someone down there who is reputable that could be less expensive for you? I'm just curious, that's almost half what it costs out of pocket - the deductible including what you paid so far... For me I did not really take all that long. I was the one who took my time with it. Once I made the decision I could have been banded within 3 months and I dragged it out to about 6. Let us know how it goes!

    My Dr. is Fill Happy

Mommy, I have to agree with you, that is a very aggessive fill. My first fill was 2.5/10cc. I even felt that one. Of course I needed more over time but easy does it. Is there any way you can see if your surgeon is willing to go smaller?

~*~ Workout Challenge and Chat Thread ~*~

Mary, thanks for the inspiration! I personally don't think you are negating anything. It doesn't sound like much food at all. Girl, you gotta get some veggies too :grouphug: I hope your arm feels better soon too. I hate feeling injured and it keeps me from a full scale workout like I should do. I followed my workout regimen like I said I would do yesterday. I feel really good, even though I am feeling a little bit sore. I haven't felt that in a long time! It makes me wanna workout more. I did 30 on my spinner early this morning and I also walked at work here for 30 minutes. At home I'm going to do 30 on the elliptical and then 30 minutes calisthenics. Good luck everyone! Keep up that sweat!!
  22. During the clears I drank anything healthy I could actually see through. Then during the full phase I drank anything as long as it didnt have lumps or was pulpy. I really stuck to my post op diet - and my band is actually still doing quite well. I did get too tight for a spell but has fixed itself once I got a bit of unfill. So, I think as long as you stick to your post op plan I think you will be ok. Good luck!!!
  23. I've been banded for awhile and I eat fruits very regularly and have not been advised not to. Like the other poster mentioned it's only during the clear liquid phase or liquid phase its best not to eat your fruit. However if you want to drink them, get them without pulp. Apple juice was good during the Clear liquids phase, and then v8 is especially good during the liquids phase. You need your veggies!!

3 yrs out- why I had my fill removed voluntarily

Sadie, thank you so much for sharing this with all of us. I definitely know where you are coming from! The more you, me and everyone else who has realized this problem the more can benefit from it and get the situation handled without haste. It's a hard lesson that a band that is too tight is just as detrimental to us as not having a band at all. You should always be able to eat healthy well balanced meals - always! If you are finding yourself not being able to eat solid foods that are good for your body then you are too tight. I don't know how many times I've said this on this website or anywhere. I know first hand. If you are eating all sugary soft foods to avoid eating real solid foods, do not hesitate and get yourself a small unfill right away. The weight WILL come back faster than you think, then you will have to struggle to beat the sugar demon at the same time. It's better to get a handle on it as soon as you are aware of the situation. Together we will see success while we hold the hands of our banded brothers and sisters. Cheers!!
