  2. Hi Everyone! Ok so I stole this idea, but can you blame me? What a wonderful idea!! I'm having surgery on Sept 15th with Dr. Aceves - anyone else to be there around that time? It would be great to meet anyone who will be, I know there are so many of us who post here. I'm so excited and so ready to do this. I'm being revised to have my lap-band removed and get the VSG. Yeah!! Have a great day everyone
  3. *Bump* Anyone going to Mexicali around this time??? It would be great to meet everyone! I'm so ready to go! Got my complete unfill today. Yeah!

    You're dream outfit

My biggest size was 28W / 3X tops. I was squeezing my big butt in them too. I lost 50 Lbs all on my own before band surgery. I noticed I was having trouble keeping it off so that's why I looking into WLS. Besides I still needed to lose 130 Lbs! After banding I got down to 227, and was in size 14 / XL and sometimes L. Those weren't womens sizes either!! It was so nice being able to shop in normal clothing stores and picking out practically anything I wanted. YEAH!!! I hadn't worn that size in over a decade... Well then the problems started and the weight regain began. I'm back up into 22W / 1X!!! I personally would just be sooo happy to get back into all these clothes in my closet... really. They are so cute and I spent alot on them. It would be nice to be able to wear a shirt and it be more form fitting and I don't feel so self conscious about my huge belly. :sad0:

    weight watchers anyone?

Overeaters Anonymous. After my revision and I'm all settled in with it and eating solids regulary I do plan to use this as another tool toward figuring out whats eating me, instead of what I'm eating. Once this weight is gone, I want it to stay gone forever. One thing I've learned with my current WLS is, never thing this weight will be gone forever simply because you have WLS. It can and it *WILL* come back if you continue to over eat and eat emotionally. Good luck to you! WW is a wonderful third tool option for Weight loss, but I for myself, I'm going to work on my issues from the inside out. I believe it will help me the most.
  8. Awesome!! I'm a huge sports fan and I'm sure I'd know who you are. Good luck with your final decision! It's ultimately your call - and I think all of the suggestions have been good ones.

    Gastric Bypass vs. Sleeve

Also, this may not seem like a very big deal, but if you use NSAIDS and really need them - for reason of arthritis, you will never be able to use them again with the GB. The sleeve will still allow you to use these products. For me that is a big deal. No way I'm going to take tylenol all day, besides it doesn't help at all with the inflammation. Good luck!
  10. My personal opinion is to just wait it out. I only say this because I have been there done that. I wish so bad now I hadn't told anyone and everyone. Now I'm having to explain things I really don't want to. You will have to explain yourself all the time. Good times and bad times. If things aren't going that good for you, you are already going to feel down about it, not to mention having to talk about it all the time - that really does make it worse. If and when you hit goal then feel free to open up about it, until then keep it to yourself. This is going to be stressful enough without all the heckling, bombardment of questions and whatnot. You will need as much civility and focus as possible during this time. Only tell those that really need to know. There will come a day when you can open up about it, until then I'd say just follow your own journey - keep it your own.

    September sleevers wanted!

Thanks everyone! Together we will get through this It's always nice to find people who go around the same time as you. Many times this friendship can last for years to come, as we all go through our ups and downs at around the same time. Hopefully we will all hit our goals as well! That would be sooo great. I'm so ready for this! Soooo who's got September first? Who gets to go first. :lol0: Oh and tomorrow the Pre-Op diet begins. All the junkfood: GONE!! My fridge is full of my Atkins and Slim Fast Hi Protein shakes... and everything is set to go. I even bought 2 Atkins books to fully understand the concept because I'm going to continue this diet until I get to my goal. I made a pact with myself that I'm spending all this money and time to have to have this done, I'm going to ride it out to the end!!! To tally my daily calories/protein/carbs/fat I'm going to try daily plate first to see how it adds everything up for me. If I feel satisfied enough I'll keep it.

How many days do you stay in the hospital?

Many factors play into that decision... since you are going insurance it will likely be who your insurance chooses as your surgeon and how many days the insurances agrees with the surgeon about keeping you. That is how it went down for me when I was banded, and it got paid through insurance. I only stayed the night and was discharged early the next morning. Now I'm doing self-pay and I'm staying in the hospital for four days and three nights.

    CA Sleevesters

Hellooo Californians!! I am in Sacramento, CA and I am also going to see Dr. Aceves. I am due to have surgery for him to remove my Lap-Band and replace it with VSG on September 15th. I can't wait! I'm so glad to find you all, and I really can't believe how many of us are in the Sacramento Area. This makes me so happy! :laugh0:) It would be great for all of us to get together for our own support group meetings. Anyone is welcome to join as long as its not too far a drive for you. We can make up meeting times that fits everyone's schedule. Shouldnt' be too difficult. Where would we meet? It's really hard to find anyone in this area that has had the sleeve. Most everyone has the band or gastric bypass. Anyway, looking forward to hearing from all of you!
  24. Hi Mommy! I came accross your post in the California thread. I see you went to Dr. Aceves! I'm also from Sacramento, and I am also going to Dr. Aceves to have a revision from band to sleeve.

How are you doing with your post-op? I'd really be interested in hearing from you! Please send me a PM, I'd like to hear all about your experiences with Dr. Aceves. :))

    Nausea issues

Just something I heard somewhere (in a Dr.'s leaflet) is that, not taking your antacid medication can cause severe nausea as well. I'm not post op sleeve so I don't know for sure, just thought I'd throw that out there...
