  1. Dansha, that is amazing!! It must feel so great to have the weight just melting off. Though for myself I only experienced the weight melting off for the first 4 months with my Lap-Band, I still enjoyed it. It's starting to melt off again and I'm just over the Moon about it!!! It was so worth those two days of agony.

To be honest while i was going through torture right after surgery I did ask myself "What the heck did you do to yourself????" but now I'm feeling like this is the best thing I've ever done for myself.

No hunger... wow. I've been praying for this miracle for YEARS!!!!!

Thanks for the well wishes! I'm gonna rock this sleeve like I've never rocked anything in my life. I'm finally going to accomplish something and MAINTAIN IT!!

    HUGS RIGHT BACK!!!!

    Irene

    Looking for a N.CA mentor/buddy

Hey Panda! Welcome to VST firstly! Secondly, please do not feel like you wasted anyone's time. Having WLS should never be taken lightly and you should be on board with it all the way, no iffs ands or butts... You did the right thing by cancelling if you were still unsure you wanted to do it. It sounds like you are ready now, and you are full steam ahead and that is what matters now. I wish you all the best! I'm also in Sacramento so we are neighbors. Keep in touch, and though I didn't go to Kaiser we will still be sleeve sisters and sleeve neighbors too! Hugs!!! All the best on your upcoming journey

I'm being SLEEVED on Sept. 15, 2010 by Dr. Aceves!!

CG, I know what you mean! I NEVER had this with my Lap-Band. I remember like it was yesterday -- day three the hunger was so intense I was in total misery! :crying: But here I am almost a week out now and I haven't felt a stitch of being hungry. What an amazing discovery this sleeve is!!!!!! Hunger has always been my biggest enemy with weight management. I pray this continues, but so far I'm really REALLY LOVING IT!! I hope you've made it home safely, and rest rest rest! I got to sleep in my own bed tonight for the first time and let me tell you... I did not want to get up at all.. LOL ) Hi just! Glad to hear your plugging right along! Every day gets easier, and for that I'm so glad! Sleeve those weeks are going to fly by believe me. Before you know it you will be a week out like me! I still can't believe it!!! Dr. Pompa is a good surgeon. If I hadn't gone to Dr. Aceves I would've chosen her. I spoke with her directly on the phone and she answered all my questions truthfully and took her time with them. You will be in excellent hands not to worry! Daisy did you really lose 22 Lbs? Wow!! And you were already small, so that's saying alot!! Hugs my friend We will get in touch soon. Enjoy your company, and have a few cheers on me!! :wink0: It will be here in a flash DJ! I can't wait, I'm gonna keep my eye on you  Good morning VST!!!! I got to sleep in my own bed this morning. It was sooo wonderful. I didn't want to get up at all. I'm also going to get to shower at home too... coming very VERY soon!! :tongue2: There's really no place like home. It is the place we hibernate to get better and better. Though I feel I've been recuperating nicely, just since I've been home I feel I've gotten 2x better. I'm loving it here!!!!! I'm off until October 6th - and before I left I'd considered going back early if I felt up to it. However as I'm sitting here I decided I'd rather not. I'd rather take my time and go back 100% and ready to roar. Besides, I really don't want to go back while I'm still on liquids. I will just beginning my puree stage on that very day, so I'll start feeling even better. To be honest, I still have trouble even getting my Clear Liquids in. Dr. Aceves sure makes a nice tight tummy! I know that's what I wanted, but its a reality call when you finally get it. It's a learning curve I don't think I've ever in my life encountered. It's a world of difference than what I had with my band, and in a very good way! This is what I've wanted all along! My next stage of full liquids will begin on day 11. Dr. Aceves wanted me to give it an extra day because he said he did have to do some cleaning up in there. He even had to clean up some abrasions on my liver - so I guess the band was rubbing against it some or whatever, not sure. Anyway that means I will get to start having my creamies on the 26th. Not too long from now... I... Can... Do... It... lol :svengo:

Glad to hear you are doing so well! Hang in there, it just keeps getting better from here. PA, my first two days were rough but I'm a trooper and I pulled through nicely. I'm doing excellent right now. I'm home and resting!! I think that's the best part of any surgery! The Lbs coming off isn't so bad either.. lol

I'm being SLEEVED on Sept. 15, 2010 by Dr. Aceves!!

Haha that is funny mp! We did drive right by there. I'M HOME FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sooo glad to be home and I'm on my bigger laptop. Now that I'm looking at it, it's like gigantic compared to my mini Dell... lol Okay so what's the first thing I do?? That's right -- I jump right on my scale. It said 268.0. I admit when I saw that I felt a lump of disappoinment. I thought wow, 48 hours of near death for 4 Lbs??? :crying: Then I remembered that WOW!! I'm ONLY on my 5th day out of surgery. That's a freakin Lb. a day I'm losing right now. THAT'S ALOT!! When's the last time I could ever say that I've lost an entire Lb. a day? I guess I felt disappointed because I lost 11 Lbs after 7 days on my Lap-Band surgery. But here's the difference, I didn't have a Pre-Op diet either. All that 11 Lbs. was mostly Water I'm sure. I've already lost the water weight by having my Pre-Op diet two weeks prior to the big day. So yeah, I'm losing fat now. Especially with the kind of diet I'm doing right now, the high Protein and Low Carb. Yay Me!!! LOL Ok, not trying to toot my own horn, but I'm pretty dang excited over this. I'd love to continue this trend for as long as I can. Even if it gets me through halfway to goal. If I slow down once I get about 50 Lbs. off I will be okay for it to slow down some, to maybe about 2 -3 Lbs. per week (hopefully a tiny bit more of course). Hope everyone's day is a positive and successful one!!!! Hugs!!

I should be home by Noon today! Still making my way there, but I'm so ready to be home now. My kitties haven't seen me in a week now!!! :lol0: Sure you can call, but later tonight or so since I'll be on the road until then most likely - then when I do get home I'll want a nap I'm sure! I miss my bed sooooo much!!! :w00t:

I'm being SLEEVED on Sept. 15, 2010 by Dr. Aceves!!

Heya sleeve, those ten days are going to fly by! Hold on to your hat lady In the meantime try to think of anything and everything you will need. I tried to and still needed some things on the way home.. Haha!! Don't worry! You will come through with flying colors. Mine was a bit more difficult and harder to recover from because I had to have a Lap-band removed in the process. But I'm still doing great! Got my nice cool Water bottle by my side like my new best friend. hehe :wink1: How's everyone? Sooo I did stop at the Outlets. I bought a few goal dresses that are super smart and super cute. I had to keep telling them "no" when they'd ask if I want to try it on.. LOL I felt a little embarrassed but I got over it quick. They don't know my situation, and were just doing their job, especially since the items were non-refundable. I bought an AWESOME LITTLE BLACK DRESS!! OMG I'll need to take a pikky of it to show here. It's so adorable. It's a size M, so pretty ambitious.. but by golly my big booty will fit in there someday! Tomorrow I start bright and early. We are stationed in Bakersfield CA which is about a 4-5 hour drive home. I really can't wait. I have an amazing adjustable bed that's been screaming my name for days now.. lol I'm also glad I decided to take extra time off. I really need it, it's kinda tough coping with the idea that I will never again be able to eat like I used to. The truth is, I used to loooove to eat until I felt like I'd pop. When I'm not hungry, I wouldn't care - but once I got hungry enough I'd keep eating and gorging until my stomach was the size of a hot air balloon. I think my sleeve was the perfect choice for me. Can't cheat it, once it's full - it's full. Wanna 'nother bite? Well you will soon regret that last taste. Well hope everyone's day is fabulous!! :biggrin2:

    Nausea heighten by smells

OMW I thought I was the only one that this happened to! My sense of smell has been so hightened! I had some cups next to my bed and the smell of the contents were driving me nuts, I had to move them clear to the other side of the room. My taste is super sensitive too - everything is a flavor explosion or it tastes totally weird and can't drink it. If I smell something strong for too long it does make me feel nauseous. Not sure yet if this is good or bad. The smell is really strange though, I didn't read about that pre surgery so it was a surprise for me.

Did you get to keep your band?

Well I was definitely able to keep my band. It's settled nicely in my suitcase. What a perfect place for it!!!

Thanks tdov, I'm so glad to hear you're doing well too! I know what you mean about everything tasting different. Yuck! I had to actually throw out my Isopure. I did really like it but now its gross. I had to find a Walmart around here and buy some of those little Protein shots, and mix it with G2. Now, its not the best but it's something... Awesome thank you wanna!! How is your friend doing now? I always see you're doing excellent! You're an inspiration here!! Hey mp, I did figure doing a little shopping would hurt.. hehe Good thing is once I get tired I can just jump right back in the car and start the drive again. OMG, I'm so excited for the shopping trip later today!! Whoot!! peatie, I know right?? I've been wanting to stop in there for so long. I'm always coming down this way and I'd pass it by and think, geez I need to make some time to stop in there! Well the time is NOW!! Good morning everyone! I forgot to take my sleeping pill last night so I woke up a few times throughout with some bizzaro dreams, but I'm ok. I don't feel tired or bad. I should be home tomorrow so that's always something to look forward to. I will be glad to get there, check my weight and just relax after that. My swelling in my belly from the gas is going down, thank goodness. It's just so uncomfortable... not one of the better things of WLS for sure. Wishing everyone success!!

Period during my surgery date, bad?

I just wanted to give a quick response here. I did once have a surgery while on my Pd. In fact it was my Lap Band surgery. Never again will I do that. :scared0: I specifically scheduled my surgery when I knew I would definitely not be on my time. Good luck!!!

    Will this work for me?

Hi Butterfly, I simply missed this message because I was in Mexicali on the Hospital bed recovering from my band to sleeve revision. The fact is the band is not for everyone. I was one of them. It's so easy to say, well you have to work your band... well excuse me... and how did the band work for me??? Better yet, WHEN did the band even help me at all? No, I lost all the weight I did post op all on my own, period and end of story. Once I realized I'd gone through a surgery for no reason I just let it take me down a road I'd rather sooner forget!!! I'm three days post op sleeve now, and so far so good. I feel great. Was it worth it? Well being as I'm so fresh and new I'm liking it. I still have a lot to look forward to, and in great hopes that this time, this surgery will give me the assistance in all I was looking for with that band thingy (that now sits in my suitcase... lmao -- what good it's doing there now right???) All the best!! It's not an easy decision to make. It took me a year to come to the conclusion that I still needed help and had to finally make that plunge. Glad I'm on the other side now though! :scared0:
  24. Hi MsBug!! Well I'm a former Bander as of barely 3 days ago. It was not pleasant, but I'll tell you right now - I don't regret it for one second. That piercing port pain that has been eating at me for nearly 3 years is FINALLY GONE!!!! I'm on my way down again, and I hope that you can join the rest of us who have dumped the Band and enjoying our new sleeved selves. :scared0:

18 hours post op - photos

When we are under anesthesia they have to move our bodies for us - so they are tugging and pulling on us in all kinds of ways. Most likely where the obscure bruises are coming from. Then we can also get drainage bruises, so where we have been injured in one spot, it can sort of "leak down" to somewhere below when we are again standing up. Just a little something I learned from something a long time ago. Either way, it's so nice to see you're doing excellent two steps! The weight melting off is so worth it in exchange for all the bruises and all the terribleness of the first few days of surgery!!:001_unsure:
