I'm on the Road to Onederland!! Who's with me?

Onederland is when you have a 1 in front of your weight, instead of a 2 or 3... etc. I have 56 Lbs to go!!!!

    Woah! Rough Day!!!!

You will be absolutely fine, promise! You will be in excellent and caring hands. You will see once it's all over how silly it was to think like this. I mean, I understand believe me... but really you will be a-ok. Check in and let us know how you're doing as soon as you're up to it. Hugs!!!

I'm being SLEEVED on Sept. 15, 2010 by Dr. Aceves!!

So today officially marks my 3rd week sleeved!! My totals are 15.6 Lbs since Sleeve surgery day and 24.6 Lbs since the beginning of my Pre-Op diet. Also, I have lost 73.6 Lbs from my highest forever!!! I am just now starting to get into my mushies, puree's and softer foods. I will do this through day 30... which I am now on day 21. I'm not doing all too bad. I can eat egg soup that I make for myself every night for dinner. It's pretty tasty! I also eat high Fiber oatmeal for my carb of the day. It's helping!!! LMAO!! I need it though. Maybe TMI, but I actually went through 5 or 6 days last week of a no-go. Not good! I know I've also been feeling way better since too. Lighter even? Yeah maybe... LOL When I first started my Pre-Op diet I was wearing a size 22W/1-2X. Today I am back into clothes I haven't worn since last summer. I am wearing 18W/XL-1X. I can even wear my XL pajama gowns perfectly. I feel incredible and sooo happy I did this!!! Sure it may have been pretty awful the first few days, but I'd gladly trade those few days in now for all the awesome days I'm having now! I am usually the type to get a good workout in. Well I have decided to put that on the back burner for now until I can get my proper nutrients in, and a good supply of Water. I'm still to this day working on this. I really can get a good amount of water in, but I still feel some lethargy due to not being able to eat solid foods. In my estimation I'm still thinking I'm a good 2-3 weeks out or more from that stage. So for now I'm just getting some walking in and some low key Calisthenics. It's keeping my muscles toned right now and keeping me semi active. It's ok -- I'm still losing really good right now, so I'm not all too worried. As a matter of fact, I have to get my calisthenics on tonight!!! :-) I have a bit of trouble coming though.... I always seem to get stuck at the weight 255. Up or down I hover around this weight for weeks before coasting along. We'll see if this will be the same this time around. Also today I went back to work for the first time since surgery. Yay!! It was nice. Everyone was glad I was back, including myself. I think I had too much time on my hands! There's lots of work to do there so the days will start flying by again. And as I always say... as long as I'm doing what I'm supposed to do, time will pass and the pounds will drop. Ok, I'm outta here for now! Good luck to all the pre-sleevers going up soon! You will do great. You may even question yourself for a day or two... I won't lie, I did myself - but it didn't take me long to take that back and be ever thankful for Dr. Aceves and my new tiny tummy!!!:heart::heart::heart::heart::heart:

    difference between mushy and soft?

Mine was very similar to Tiffy's Day 1, nothing by mouth Day 2-4, all clears period (all in hospital). Day 5-10 (Aceves added 1 extra day for me since I was a revision), I was allowed to add in making Protein shakes with adding only Water. Day 11-19, I was progressed to full liquids. I added all SF full liquids, including pudding, fudge sicles, milk (and added to my protein shakes), thicker Soups (no lumps or bumps), yogurts, etc. I was also allowed cream of wheat!! Yum. Day 20-29 (Stage I'm on now), Puree'd or mushy foods. Oatmeals, eggs etc or anything puree'd especially meats and whole Proteins. I'm feeling better already. I've tried mushy tuna and it didn't sit well with me! :-( Very disappointed. Day 30-45 I will start to eat whole foods but on the softer side and working back into eating full solids. It's always better to take your time, and listen to your cues. If you feel something doesn't agree with you, give it some time until trying it again. However that doesn't mean you can't try other things with similar consistency. It's all hit or miss. It's all a learning curve!
  8. Well I'm gonna be point blank and tell you right now... it was no cake walk. The first few days are very rough. Since you are a revision, you will likely experience more pain in swallowing than just a normal first timer. I had severe nausea and some vomitting. I had a hard time of it. I am now 3 weeks out and I'm still working on my new stomach. I'm barely able to still eat mushies. I've been trying more puree's in the last few days but it's pretty slow going. I'm taking my time with it. I've done enough regurgitating with my band!! Tired of that... My actual surgery was not overly painful per se. I'd more say the nausea and just plain sick feeling was the worst of it. Mine lasted 2 days, and I felt a little nausea about a week later when I had some potato Soup, which was one of the first times I'd gotten into full liquids. Other than that I've not had any more. In all that I don't regret my decision at all. I'm down 25 Lbs already from my pre-op diet. I'm wearing clothes I haven't worn since last Summer!! :-)

    Mexico vs. Louisiana

I had my surgery by Dr. Aceves. I absolutely recommend him, Dr. Campos, and the Hospital Almater Staff. They are A+. You will be in excellent care. I never waited more than a total minute to be waited on when I used the nurse call button. The Hospital is incredibly clean, and they are so nice and caring. I think just being out of our element can be scary. I was scared just to go outside my insurance network! I'll never look back though now. It was the BEST thing I've ever done for myself!!! If you have any questions, pleas feel free to contact me. :-)

    Stopped Losing:(

I'm sure it's just a stall. The only thing that will fix it is a whole lot of patience. Just keep sticking to your routine and it will pick up again. Be good to yourself! You have gone through a lot, and deserve a pat on the back - especially from you!
  11. Hi vix welcome to VST!! I personally think the band and the sleeve are two completely different. So far the sleeve for me has been everything I was looking for in the band, which I never got. No Hunger No Fills/Unfills!!! No food dragging in my esophagus No night coughs No cheating (like with the band you could just wash it down to your biggie stomach) I feel real fulness.. Not just pressure in my throat I really only can eat a few Oz at a time. I NEVER had this with my band, unless I was so tight I choked up everything I ate. This surgery IMO is FAR SUPERIOR to the band. Good luck!!!
  12. Who says change is a bad thing? I'm changing, and that is WONDERFUL!!! xoxo

  13. I've just have to change it every time I post. I looked and looked and there is not other way I've seen so far. I'll let you know if I find anything! Sorry :-(

    I'm going to Tijuana

Hi vicki, I did not go to Dr. Ortiz so I'm not sure about his prices. Best thing would be to try to contact his staff somehow and find out what his rates are. All Dr.'s are subject to change at any time, so even if someone replied now, it could change from the time they've had their surgery.

    Stall??'s

Hey sleeve Ok, first go to up at the top where you see your profile picture. Next to it, click on "signed in as...". On the dropdown click on My Settings. It should show your General Settings once you click on it. Then checkmark the box next to "Enable Visual RTE Editor". Click Save changes. This will make it easier for you to change your fonts/colors once you make your posts. Hope this helps!

    Had a scrambled egg!!!!

eggs are one of those hit or miss foods for all of us. I was actually scared to try them because I've heard so many complaining about them during this stage. I suggest to anyone to take it very slow with the egg for the first time trying it. Well today was my very first time, and I took some of my bouillons (I had a lot left over from the the clear broth phase... chicken & veggie) and made a Soup base with it. Then I scrambled up an egg and made an egg soup. It WAS FANTASTIC!!!! I actually ate the whole egg!! I felt great after. Now I know what's for dinner every night until I can start eating more soft solids. It's so good for me, packed with protein! Yum!!!
  17. Magui, the weight will come off. It is impossible for it not to with such a deficit. I'm going through this right now too, but I have to keep positive and remember this is going to be something ongoing for a long time. I can't keep expecting to lose a Lb a day. It will slow down to about 3-4 lbs per week eventually and I'm ok with that. Better than the alternative!!

    The New VST

Glad you found it! I just clicked on it out of curiosity myself. I do also have Firefox and Windows Vista, so it should work for anyone really...

There is a "mouse over" option. If you mouse over the topic there will be a little green icon that looks like a piece of paper pop up. Click on that and it will give you a preview. It will show the first and last post.

Ha! And this is why I choose not to tell anyone about my surgery. I HATE THAT!!

    Wait, why sugar free?

Drinking sugar free has many benefits to it post op surgery. It is a great time to break free from the sugar demon (if you hadn't already done it in your pre-op diet). It will help keep your Carbs and Calories low to boost a good weight loss in the first few weeks. Have you tried Propel? It has a really nice, lightly flavored taste and comes in all kinds of different flavors. One 16.9 oz bottle has 4g carbs. Much less than vitamin water. Give it a try. You may experience some flavor distaste after surgery and anything overly flavorful or especially sweet, you may discover you don't like anymore.
  24. It is true the fatigue and trials of getting all our liquids and Protein in within the first few weeks post op - including learning "how to eat" again are not talked about enough. It's just something we have to get through though. It should definitely be discussed here! It is not talked about enough elsewhere. It's also something that should not be thought of as fearful to the point where the Pre-Op patients feel scared to get the surgery. The benefits FAR outweigh the cons here. This is not going to last forever. I'll gladly trade in a months worth of hurt for a lifetime of happiness and freedom from fat!!!
