Sizzilng September Sleevers Monday Check In

Labrys, thanks for the encouragement! I need that sometimes :-) Jordi, this new coming week you will see some significant changes. Every day you will be able to get more and more softer foods in. I'm still only doing one meal of soft solids per day, but I can actually get them in. It takes me awhile to eat it, but I do. If you haven't already started, start taking B-12 Sublinguals. I found mine at Rite-Aid and I believe it has been a major contributor to me feeling more "normal". I still tire easily but I'm noticing it is subsiding a little every day. I'm only doing 3 1/2 (1/2 can of Slim Fast first thing in the morning) meals per day plus one fun snack, so really I try to get as much in as I can stand before looking at it with disgust... haha!! Adding up the Calories I'm probably doing from 700 to 1000 per day. Weekend being on the higher end because I'm not tied to my work.

Questions for sleevers at least 1 Year Post Op…

NO KIDDING!! I just want to know, am I ever going to feel normal again? LOL 1 Month out and still on liquids (well mostly)... *sigh* Thanks so much Kiki for your response! Super helpful. You have done excellently by the way. You are but a hop, skip and a jump from goal girlie! Get that engine revved up again and get over that finish line!

    Need help with protein

Yes they are excellent ideas. My favorite is the sludge idea. I've been doing Protein powders for many years now so I really don't have an issue with them at all. In fact I kind of like them. I have so many too, at least 4 months worth! Anyway, even with that - thisis the first time I've heard of the sludge. Really! You learn something new every day.

30 DAYS OUT from the BIG DAY

Well definitely it would be a good idea to stock up on all the necessary food items you will need post op. Likely you won't feel up to shopping for them after. Get your broths, SF popsicles... all that good stuff. You should get a list from your Surgeon's Office. Get some comfy clothes/bras/panties/pajamas for you to lounge in. Dont get anything form fitting, it will be uncomfortable around your incision areas. Get some wound dressings for your incisions. Get a heating pad! It will help with the pain. Get some liquid Tylenol. It will help when you don't need the pharmacy strength drugs they give you. Get some OTC sleeping pills. They will help you get some sleep. I found it kinda difficult to sleep post surgery... now it seems like I never want to wake up! LOL Get some OTC PPI's too. Your stomach will churn and hurt with the acids, and this will prove to be extremely helpful. But last but not least... bring your positive sunny side with you. This surgery is tough, but I"m sure you're tougher right? :-) Good luck to you!

    Too Soon?

No way, it's never too soon for that. I actually was thinking that as I was vomitting in the Hospital the day after surgery. But, I don't think that anymore ever. I am so happy I did this! I'm fitting clothes I haven't worn in a year! I never or rarely feel hunger, which has been my #1 enemy my whole life... I'm just feeling so much happier... Now how can I question it, when it is doing so many wonders for me? Time will go by and you will stop questioning your decision. Some have a slower time of it post op to where they start feeling normal again. I truly believe I'm one of those people. I was feeling great yesterday but today I'm feeling sluggish again. I did have a coffee just now and feeling more peppy though! LOL

    Scared and Nervous

Uh oh... you better call your surgeon's office to let them know you have come down with a bug. Other than that, yes the surgery is no walk in the park, but anyone can get through it! All the best.

Sizzilng September Sleevers Monday Check In

Good monday morning Sizzlin' September Sleevers! Love the name BTW... I'm definitely on board with it. Ok so... I haven't lost any weight in many days now. Not sure why, but it's ok. I still notice a shift in my clothes. My hubby told me yesterday my pants are gettting baggy again already, and they are 18's!! I could never figure out why I'm an 18 and I weigh as much as I do. It's just baffling to me. Anyway, I just wanted to check in and say even though the scale is being a butt right now, other wonderful things are happening!! Also I've noticed a boost in my energy level since I've started taking my B-12 sublingual. My liquid form just wasn't enough I guess. It must be true that us sleevers have a harder time absorbing this very vital nutrient. I do especially since I'm diagnosed anemic. I need to pay special attention to this less I have to start getting shots. I thought I got away from that when I had my band removed! LMAO!! I'm nearly 4 weeks out as of this Wednesday. I'll do my official weigh-in but I'm not expecting any miracles this week. Like I said though, I'll be fine with whatever pops up. As long as I can keep my measuring my losses in other ways I know I'm doing good. Eventually the scale will have to catch up to me. The difference between week 3 and week 4 are a million miles apart. When I first got to week 3 I felt like I'd never start to feel like a normal person again. Well I'm finally getting there!! I'm able to get my liquids in really good. I can do my Protein shakes no problems at all. I can eat eggs and my hi-Fiber oatmeal pretty effortlessly too. Thank goodness!! I am still taking my time with the tuna packs, puree'd chicken and that sort of thing very slowly. However every day gets so much easier than the day before. I may start adding some egg to it with some mayo just for the extra protein push. I have to eat about 2 to 3 oz in several settings - and that being it only too. It's great though and is what I wanted... right? LOL See you all next week!! We are all doing so excellently! Hugs!!
  14. Hoping your surgery went well! Check in when you feel up to it.

  15. Good morning VST!! Get your losses on today! I'm sleepy and thinking a nice cup of coffee might help. The Black Tea just isn't doin it for me anymore.

    Pounds lost per month

future, seeing as she is a heavier starter likely she'll lose a lot in the beginning. As far as averages from what I've seen it is about 10-15 Lbs lost per month. However that's just my personal observation. Everyone is different!

September Sleevers YAY The party is ON

I have some peaches I want to try - canned with no sugar added of course. They should be soft enough. However I won't try any oranges or citrus yet because it is very fibrous. I'm not sure if anyone else might have tried it out around this time. I'm going to be 4 weeks out on Wednesday.
  19. I just want to chime in here, any newly sleeved folks reading this... please don't try this at home. Please do your very best to follow your surgeon's post op plan, and if anything go even slower than that. We run a very high risk of developing leaks for the first weeks out of surgery and pushing the limits is a very bad idea. Not only that, we went through with this to in essence "start over". Don't be in such a hurry to already fall off plan. Good luck to all.

I'm on the Road to Onederland!! Who's with me?

coops I'm so happy for you girlie!!! Whoohoooo!!! Welcome to the trip! You are VERY close!!! Keep going!

    borderline repulsed by food!?

Oh girl... super normal! I didn't even want to *think* about food for the first few weeks out. I didn't even have any kind of appetite until pretty recently actually. In fact, I still couldn't really care less if I ate or not. I only recently started to feel a tiny hollow feeling if I wait too long between meals, so naturally I eat. Don't worry... I know I did because it wasn't what I expected at all. Very weird for me, because I was even the type to munchie down when I had the flu!!! LOL

    New here :)

Wow!! That's shocking. However, my first choice in surgeon was Dr. Cirangle before I chose to go to MX and have my sleeve done by Dr. Aceves. Dr. Cirangle is incredibly knowledgeable. I'm sure you will be in excellent hands with him. However, It might not hurt to do a Dr. search on Jossart to find out where he may have moved his practice to.
  24. Well, I personally made outside friendships with some people enough to where I felt comfortable enough to send an email or text message to let them know I was ok. I then asked them to relay the message to here or where ever I post -- I didn't want anyone to worry. Now when they didn't hear from me after the first day I was getting texts and emails asking where I was. If there were truly an issue, my family would have seen my phone and responded I'm sure. Just a thought... but don't worry. You will be fine!
