~*~ Workout Challenge and Chat Thread ~*~

Mary, firstly -- CONGRATULATIONS ON HITTING GOAL LADY!!! Great for you! You have done amazingly well. Hey, a mile's a mile... at least you did it. I don't blame you, I mean sometimes we really do need a break for a day or so. However, for me it's been tooooo long!! LMAO!! It's all good. I'm back at it though and that's all that matters. I did super good yesterday! I did 2.25 miles on my lunch break at work, I did 17 minutes on my elliptical... and 30 minutes with my calisthenics. I work on my upper arms and thighs especially because those are my trouble areas. Now, as for the elliptical.. I think I did pretty good considering I hadn't been on there for about 6 weeks at least. I did bump it up to resistance 5 though, so I didn't go too easy on myself. I want to be back up to 30 minutes within the next 2 weeks. Keep up the momentum girlie! You're the reason I keep coming back and sticking with what I'm supposed to be doing. Hugs!!!
  3. Hey Girl! I don't really monitor my HBP on my own at all. My BP had been good since surgery and never went back on my medications - but of course I made an appt with my PCP to make sure it was ok to do so. Well, turnsout it was still a bit high for her, so she put me back on them. I take Norvasc which can cause some swelling so I had to go back on both. Let me know if you have any ...

  4. Awesome suggestions Jordi, thanks!! I will start working on the "bring it" list on Friday. I have the day off and don't have a lot to do except unpack more boxes. Funny, we moved into our new home in May. Yeah, gotta finish that up... lmao!

Sizzilng September Sleevers Monday Check In

Whoohooo!! WTG Sizzling Septs! We rockin our sleeeves!!! Yep tomorrow is weigh day. I'm not really sure I'll have lost anything since this is my "bad week" if ya know what I mean. I feel a little bloated too... lol -- oh well, gotta stay on track so I must weigh. Cherise, it's so awesome that there are more ways than just the silly scale to note our successes. I love that my clothes feel looser every single day! Some are just full on baggy too. Like, why am I still wearing this??? Heehee!! Congrats on signing up with the Gym!!! I know we got some Gym Rats around here. I don't have a Gym membership, I have my own at home stuff. I gotta keep myself from making up excuses. Even though I do love to workout, falling away from it is still as easy as it ever was. I also don't blame you for not wanting to have your surgeon stretch out your sleeve!!! OMG, that would be a travesty! Hi Labrys, sorry to hear you needed an IV... that is a big fear of mine. I try so hard to drink all day long. I actually got in about 50+ oz of Water yesterday. Not bad! I could've kept it going to FINALLY get in that 64 oz. I don't count all the other stuff too, only either water or things like Gatorade. Nothing else. Keep up your positivity! It's very contagious for me! Juliah, right on sister! We got this tomorrow, no? Juicy, wow amazing stats on the inches down! Great for you!!!! I haven't measured my inches in a long time, not even before surgery. I guess I should do that. I think the reason I haven't is that I've been lighter than I am now and would measure. I would only see a gain from that standpoint. I try to stay away from it if I know it will only upset me. I might just wait until I get to the weight I was before my gains from the Lap Band. Congrats Jordi on the 2 Lbs!!! Whooot!!! You are losing the inches too, awesome! Yes, we are doing so great. I couldn't have asked for a better group to do it with too. You all are super inspiring, you keep me workin it! I myself have gone down a bra size. Only thank goodness I have a few smaller bras still hanging around from when I was lighter. I knew I'd get back into them someday! LOL Not only that I have some jeans from the late 80's. Get that! I will get back into those someday too... lmao!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I did really good yesterday though. I'm getting over the cravings I get around this time and yesterday my eating was really good. The great thing about the sleeve is that it's so easy to get back to the routine. It really was so hard with the band. You just get it locked in your brain that you can only eat so much and you need to make sure it's worthy... good stuff like baked chicken and veggies.. etc. I've always been a healthy eater anyway. I do have my things and prefer the salty/crunchy type stuff. Good thing though, I can't eat hardly as much of that stuff as I once was able to. Not even a smidge as much. Yay!! LOL Anyway I'm flushing now, so I probably won't have anything noteworthy until next week. It's all good! I also FINALLY started doing my real workouts. Not just walking a mile here or there. Yesterday I did 2.25 miles during my lunch at work, then at home I did 17 minutes on my elliptical. I can usually do way more than that, but this is my first time back on since surgery. It was a bit tiring. Though I did bump it up to 5 resistance, so yay me! Then I also pulled in a 30 minute Calisthenics session. I usually focus on my upper arms and thighs when doing this. Those are my trouble spots and has always worked well for me in the past. Ok, will see you back on tomorrow!!!

My Mom is considering the sleeve...

Thanks sooo much for all of your replies and wonderful advice. My Mom needs to lose *maybe* 80 Lbs. I'm sure she'll barely qualify, if even so. We'll see, but like I said, I'll definitely support her decision regardless of how I feel inside. I just worry for her...

    Barely One Month Ago...

One month ago (yesterday) I was sleeved by Dr. Aceves in Mexicali, MX. I cannot tell you how AWESOME I feel right now. Here's why: I was wearing a size 22W!!!! Today I'm fitting a lot of my 16's and some are Misses. I bought a Suede leather jacket today from Goodwill. It was so nice, and it was size M. OMG... it fit, except it was a tad bit tight at the very bottom where the buttons are. It's ok, I KNOW I'll fit into it really soon. I count the moments! In the mean time I took it to my Green Cleaners who are going to do some minor repairs and restorations. It's actually in very good condition. I am able to do over two miles now in walking and on my treadmill, and I feel so much lighter already. It feels so wonderful! I'm going to start adding in more of my cardio exercises as I'm feeling good and up to it again. I'll just do minor 20-25 minute sessions to start, but I'm at it again! I'm already almost down 20 Lbs since surgery and almost 30 since my pre-op diet. I really couldn't have DREAMED of having better results. My status right now is RIGHT ON!! I'm actually able to eat soft solids pretty well now. I can get my Protein naturally, and eat my Fiber bars good. Things are running quite smoothly for me now! I'm soooo ecstatic, it seems so unreal. Thank you SLEEVE, DR. ACEVES AND HIS AWESOME STAFF, VST AND MOST ESPECIALLY THANKS TO MYSELF FOR BELIEVING IN ME. :-) Here's my best NSV so far though... Hubby's already calling me "skinny". Hahaa! Ok now I know I'm not skinny by any measure of the imagination, but it sure feeellssss good!! :-)
  10. A good day indeed. My eating was spot on! I did my elliptical for 17 Minutes... which ok maybe isn't the greatest but heck, I haven't been on it since surgery and I did go up to 5 resistance too. I did 2.25 miles walk at lunch hour and I'm getting ready to do my calisthenics too. Getting my workout mojo back TO-DAY!!!! :-D

Woke up in Twoderville this morning!

Welcome to Twoderville!!!!! It's a nice place, enjoy your stay here... however - don't overstay your welcome. Believe me, you're talking to the Grand Mama of all squatters... You're doing amazing, CONGRATS!!
  13. Nope. Not one single solitary negative to say about Dr. Aceves or his team, nor the Hospital he practices out of. He is world class!!! His sleeve and technique is very tiny and very good. I have yet to ever hear about a leak with him, and I didn't have one either. I really want to go back for a one year check up with him, and I'd love to be at goal! That would be great. I drove myself and was picked up in Calexico which is a 1 minute drive to the border. Ernesto picked us up at a parking lot right around the corner from the Border. They took such excellent care of me. I never had to wait for more than 60 seconds once I pressed the nurse call button. My biggest complaint to date is that they only had a few English speaking stations. That kinda sucked, however I slept most of the time - so really I was just trying to find something to be negative about.

    Started Process Today

I was revised from band to sleeve on Sept. 15th in an all in one surgery. I did not need to do it in two steps, as I didn't have any major damage enough that my surgeon felt it necessary. I'm only six weeks out and I can already tell you, the sleeve knocks it outta the ballpark and the band is more akin to a bunt. A good bunt tho, one that gets ya on first base.

    96 candy bars

Good for you girlie!! LOL I just don't trust myself enough yet though, so I won't buy the candy until it's actually Halloween. Not only that, the last kid is gonna get a gold mine!!

    Question: Eating Cold Cereal

Fiber Fiber Fiber!!! Gots to have it - ya know? Anyway I'm with ya sister, I'll eat cereal whenever I want some as long as it's not called SugarShox... I didn't find that it made me hungry in the least, in fact it's pretty filling. Fiber in itself is a very filling food. That along with a High Protein diet keeps me incredibly satisfied on very tiny portions (with the help of my sleeve of course!) I don't plan on changing a darn thing. Thanks for reminding me about the Fiber One cereal! I do have the cereal bars, but I love the actual cereal too. Half the RDA in one serving, however since I can only eat a quarter serving at best -- though I'm still getting my fiber!!

Mary BIG WOWS!!!!!!!!!! Way to go!!!!! You know you did a 5K right? That's about 3.1 miles... fantastic!!! I'm super happy for you!! That is my dream, girl... so awesome! :huh2: As for me the answer was no! :plane: I didn't start my workouts but I'm really just making dumb excuses. I really gotta get on the ball again. I haven't even done any walking in almost a week now... *sigh* but I'm having my High Fiber oatmeal for lunch then heading out for a walk of about 2.25 miles. Starting over is harder than one might think. I will get on my elliptical tonight - even if its only 15 minutes. I'll be back on it full time in no time but gotta build up to it. Once the stamina gets going there's no stopping me. I'll check back soon because someone needs to keep me real on the workouts by golly!!! LOL

    On My Way!

WHOOHOOO!!! GO YOU!!!! So, has it been worth it?

    negative people

Yes, I did have my sleeve done on Sept. 15th and was revised from the Lap Band - so this is my second go round. Lucky, if I were in your shoes, I'd just have to sit down with my parents and tell them that the reason you let them know is because you are their daughter and felt they should know - however, it's your body and you are going to do what YOU feel is best for YOU. If they can't be supportive then to please keep their opinions to themselves. I know it's easier said than done, but for your own sanity it just might need to be done. I believe in time they will come around. Hugs!!

Do ramen noodle packets count as "broth"?

I did use the cubes as well - and even found this stuff called Soup base. They had ham, turkey and veggie flavors as well. I even liked mixing up the flavors to change things up some - as much as broth can be changed up! LOL They're really inexpensive and can make up to 30 Soups per bottle I believe. Ramen noodles soup flavors do have a lot of sodium though and the MSG type. Just be cautious and I think you should be ok!

    Question: Eating Cold Cereal

I actually had some cold Cheerios cereal a few days ago and I'm going to be 6 weeks out on Wednesday. It went down really good, but watch your portion size or you will liable to waste quite a bit of cereal and milk. I didn't even put a half cup cereal and 4 oz of milk and only ate about 5 bites and was full... LOL I had to waste most of it. I love my sleeve!!!
  22. MissP, wow!!!! Congrats - you didn't even have time to really think about how close you were... that may actually turn out to be a good thing. The jitters usually set in a week before, so you will skip all that. Such a blessing! Bring with you some comfy PJ's, undies etc... you won't want anything rubbing too much against your incisions and maybe some warm comfy socks too. IMO the pain is not even hardly that bad. I had a worse time with the nausea really. I'd say the pain is maybe a 3 or 4 at the most. Wishing you a quick and speedy recovery!!! Check in when you can.

    Eating my head off!

The Pre-Op last meals are very normal and one of those necessary evils. I've had this with my LapBand surgery, and to a lesser degree the month before my Sleeve surgery. I went beserk before my band! LOL, and how I wish I hadn't because come to find out I could still eat anything and everything I wanted post banding - as long as my band wasn't tightened. Anyway, enjoy your last meals, however - once it comes time for your pre-op diet you will want to stick to it tooth and nail. It's also a necessary evil and will shrink your liver to assist your surgeon in the safest possible procedure. Also post-op your Honeymoon window is about 6 months. You won't want to spend the little space of your tummy eating poor choices. You also won't want to slow up your weight loss either. You will have the rest of your life eating whatever you want once you hit your goal - and thank goodness you will have your tiny stomach to help keeping your from eating way too much.
